  1. Wonder if someone had been feeding it My mil feeds badgers at her cottage, before she was ill they used to put chip pan on every night and make them chips! They were very tame badgers .... If someone had tamed the fox it might be tempted into your house .....
  2. Didn't they make gear teeth for water/wind mills with apple wood ?
  3. I would have thought asking for trouble using rifle/shotgun in built up area Bound to be an anti close by who would love to cause you trouble and probably lose you your fac Difficult to find an alternative though,
  4. 12 bore Brenneke would stop one ! Stop an elephant too......
  5. There was article about big cats in the field Magazine Rang author - he had no doubts at all about them One flushed on shoot in Bala few years ago, all proper countrymen read a lot , Incredibly secretive animals In Johannesburg van delivering leopard crashed and leopard escaped General panic so they put trapsout And caught three! Capstick ( big game hunter andauthor " death in the long grass" ) was in game area in africa , this was heavily hunted area Client wanted to shoot a leopard , he said not seen one here ever , and nor has any other game hunting party - client moithered so to keep him quiet put bait up trees - to his suprise and embarassment, found leopards In 1960's you could just buy a leopard in Tib Street Manchester, some of those will have been released, and I believe they are breeding in the UK
  6. I'm with you Dean these claim happy people can trash a business that's been built up over years ....
  7. There are loads of claim happy people who have realised councils etc pay out £1000's to save the hassle I inspected car reported as "damaged by fencing contractor working for council" Car was scrap and had sat on owners drive for years, they bounced it couple of feet sideways to give him a brand new fence , yes they had damaged some corroded out wings, but this hadn't reduced the value of the car , as it was still scrap.... Cheeky ba$$$$rd try on .......
  8. The phrase that really winds me up from someone who is an aquaintance ( not a friend) is " I'll buy you a pint " WHAT for a days work!
  9. "NET CV" Sounds like a measure that should be printed on a net of logs
  10. Vintage engine collector showed me one he'd bought Was basically vertical length girder There was vertical slide with knfe on bottom Then eccentric pushing slide up and down, mounted above blade Belt droven off a lister Blade cleared bottom by about five inches ( hand width) Idea was you held piece of wood under blade and moved it to produce kindle Went at about 1000000 rpm ( ie far to fast) I had visions of it snatching on a knot Pulling timber out of your hand And then using timber to pound your hand to mush Very scary, but then I'm chicken
  11. I'd be happier about going it alone IF we had the management team But Cameron Clegg and Milburn? i don't see an independent future like Switzerland ....more like Albania ........
  12. Tell insurer ( in writing) exactly what needs covering Stops them wriggling when you make a claim An insurance policy is a "contract of utmost good faith" so you have to be 100% honest when you take it out .....but if you've told em your covered ...unless they say no
  13. Yes we have badgers I had friend who lost lots of lambs to badger Seen lots killed by badgers, they roll lamb onto its back and eat out the soft parts --- very characteristic kill --- leave gutless lamb on its back This was very different ...... It was 40 lb( ish) lamb ....nearly 12 months old ....small sheep really All that was left was head, shoulders and front legs All the rest including back legs had gone -- say 30lbs of animal Eyes still in when found so very fresh ...they were gone hour later ( to crows ) I used to walk the fields in middle of night ( takes all sorts) Allways took gun after that Interestingly my slightly bonkers neighbour cut down a beautiful ash tree that was by his gate He had to walk under tree to open gate When I asked him why he'd cut itdown his answer was " black foxes" I reckon he'd seen a big cat go up the tree and he wasn't taking the chance of it dropping on him But that my guess..........
  14. We get 25% of our business from europe No brainer IN
  15. Please don't release it on the Berwyns We are plagued by people releasing stuff on the mountain road behind us Including, peacocks, muscovy ducks ( reduced to circle of feathers in 24 hours) foxes, lost my pet geese couple of years ago There have been at least two arctic foxes (!) up there, reported on tv few years ago and dead one seen by local keeper, and very solid reports of black cats .... i found dead 12 month old lamb ( approx 40 ib weight) with all its hindquarters gone ( just front legs and head left, eyes still intact when found at first light but gone when I came back with camera) Keeper killed 80+ foxes on his beat, some with sand in their fur, their is no sand around here so definately "imports"
