  1. The tech lite bars are terrible I've seen that happen before. I rarely have chains fall off but on my 540 with that bar on it happens more often than if would like. It's actually getting to the point where I'll have to bin the chain which has about 70% left on the cutters because the drive links are getting smashed up so much.
  2. The 150 is really getting on now I'm glad timber wolf have made an upgrade it was starting to become a pencil sharpener compared to the rest of the competition. I feel for pure brash chipping power for a sub 750kg machine a greenmech 15/23 arborist is a better chipper not as refined as a forst but if you can get it in those big rollers it'll take it. In my opinion the 150 greenmech is turd it sits far to low usually giving me a bad back and those side rollers just don't have the same effect as a conventional chipper brash always gets stuck specially since you sacrifice hight for width it just limits you meaning more snedding. Our chipper is a 190 tracked I hope they upgrade this machine too, something similar to the greenmech safe track 19/28??? Adjustable tracks is a must and so is speed these timberwolf tracks are painfully slow and some big powerfull rollers to gobble up hawthorn
  3. That makes more sense. I thought he knew something we didn't know
  4. No need really, if the saw goes in for a service at some point the dealers will update the software anyway. Quick question though how will that update reduce the longevity of my 540's engine?
  5. Theirs a software update for the cold start
  6. I had it for around a month before it went back, the dealer has had the saw longer than me. I could of used it but if I'm paying £500+ for a saw I want it to work perfectly
  7. I'll just give a quick update on my husky 540 that I slated in this thread before I've eventually got it back after 1 month and 2 weeks in the dealers it's had the rear av spring replaced a new side plate and new software or firmware can't remember what he said it was. Any way it runs like a beast now stacks of power and I don't need to choke it every 5 mins when I've turned it off, the new software has transformed it. But I'm still worried about the quality of the plastics I can't see it lasting 2 years before I need to replace it
  8. Torx bolts you can remove 9 out of 10 of them perfectly fine but it's always the last one that strips itself. They have a use but manufacturers should not use torx bolts where they will either get dirty, need to be tight or will be exposed to water. The torx bolts on a timber wolf 150 chipper blades is a good example
  9. Just want to add I'm not husky bashing i own a 560 and have just purchased a 550 which are both cracking saws specially if you compare them to the sthil counterparts. Also reading these top handle threads annoys me it reminds me of wasting £560 2 months ago
  10. I've had all 3 of the so called best top handles, for me it goes 1. ms200 only if the carb is working properly 2. Ms201 I own this saw still. The old ones were terrible the new ones are decent 3 540xp which I kinda own the dealer has had it longer than me. This saw is a pile a crap that likes to spend it's time in the dealers I've came to the conclusion that who ever was raving on about how good the husky 540 was has either, never used a husky 540 and is just passing on from what they have heard off a mate or has never used a ms200/201 or even a 020t because I really don't know how you can be happy with a saw that is poorly built, uses cheap plastics and needs choking every 5 mins when you turn it off. Also it sounds terrible
  11. Poor troll with his Willians nappy
  12. Ouch!!!! the plastics were always suspect but didn't realise they were that cheap. I have never seen a saw do that
  13. My 540 has been in the dealers for a month I've only owned it 2 months haha and I still haven't got it back it's had new rear av spring new chain new bar and it's awaiting new software because it's a bag of crap with no power and won't start when hot unless I choke it. It's the worst saw I've ever owned/used, avoid avoid avoid. What has really rubbed salt I'm my wounds is the new 201s are actuall a very good saw you don't even need to drill bits out of them now for them to work properly
  14. What about chipping them??
  15. That wasn't the reason for leaving, I find a lot of things unfair haha specially the England result
  16. On the flip side of things I briefly worked for a guy who'd pick his kids up from school so left site at 2:30-3. Which I found a bit unfair specially since I was paying someone to look after my kid when he finished school
  17. That ginger minge is the biggest gear junky I've seen he's got more kit than gustharts he loves it.
  18. CJM

    Uniforms

If you are doing domestic work a polo or a cotton t-shirt will do they look far better than the hi-viz t-shirts I've had to wear in the past and obviously hi-viz for roadside/construction/utilities. I'd avoid those stein hi-viz tops they're expensive and you stink in them it's like working in a football top
  19. Who Matty? Haha
  20. Good choice, it'll be less of a ball ache (checks every 10 weeks) than the 5.5 ton iveco you've got now. Did you look at any transits? The new ones look decent
  21. Every bit of climbing kit I've bought I've had to give my contact details. If some bit of kit has been recognised faulty by the manufacturer I'd like to know.
  22. Haha I don't miss the prussik although I still use the man thrust technique
  23. Haha nice story probably relates to a lot of us but that question wasn't aimed at you it was a hypothetical
  24. It's access that takes the time, lockjack zigzag or prussik once in the crown it's anyone's game
  25. I've thought about that but then I think they'll be in the same situation with a friction hitch or a mechanical device they'll still be waiting for the groundsman to either tidy up or leave a pile of brash
