  1. Mine are the same as the ones in the picture above, I've used peltor ones in the past and I found them terrible compared to these ones.
  2. Next time a piece fails or it starts to play up I'm after a refund, the saw has never been fit for purpose, I'm frustrated with it all the time and the amount of down time I should of had it could of got me sacked. The only reason I can fulfil my climbing duties is that my work mates have old spare climbing saws
  3. I agree it's a load of bull from the dealers. I was taken back when he said it, the funny thing is I was using a bungy strop anyway

    Who's on iphone6?

I've got the iPhone 6 and its alright, if I compare it to my wife's htc one the htc is superior and the htc has been about for a while now.
  5. I haven't spent a penny getting mine fixed.
  6. Google is a fantastic thing http://www.nptc.org.uk/assets/documents/c6eb811f4dcb4ca68194d5ee8d98246f.pdf look at the top of page 6
  7. If you don't know any arborists someone on here can probably help you if not I suggest trying the arboricultural assosiation website you should find a list of approved contractors in your area. Just so I don't get flamed I'd rather the OP get proper advice than take the gamble of using a leaflet posted through the door.
  8. Coal is coal isn't it?? Gas is kind of maintance free. It all comes from a different country. Yes jobs will be lost but it's a dangerous game mining and are we aren't prepared to pay for british coal even when it's uneconomical a small minority are which have the cash but us folk who are pushed to breaking point with price rises aren't and its us folk who are the main buyers. Obviously using fossil fuels isn't in fashion at the moment. Unless they find an efficient way for mining coal our economy isn't ready for mining it hasn't been since the early 90's
  9. A proper saw I've always been a stihl fan husky have caught up and excelled in certain places apart from the top handle 540 I'd like to meet the man who designed the 540 I'd actually like to meet the people who tested the 540 because I'd shake their hands for developing a powerful top handle then slap them in the face for neglecting the build quality . Anyway anyone fancy a 550xpg and a 540t for a 461??? The 540t isn't that bad I just exaggerated it. I'll give you my dealers name just in case because it's under warrenty they know the saw well
  10. Lord amstrong, think of him as an old fashiond iron man if you've seen the film First house in the world to be powered by hydro electricity he invented many hydraulic items such as the swing bridge in Newcastle also referring to my iron man comment he was an arms dealer he's factor is still going under the name of Vikers which is based in newcastle on the Tyne. Sorry to bore you with carp I live up here so I find it a bit interesting

    Lyme disease

I've had 3 on my dog this year just from walking her through the fields. I've never had one probably because of the chainsaw pants.I Work on utilities so I'm used to walking through ferns heather boggy areas. Maybe they hate my blood
  12. Ivy acts as a sail it doesn't weaken the tree in a pathogen kind of way it weakens it structurally. The trees roots act as an anchor in a prevailing wind it'll put on more growth the strengthen the itself but when ivy becomes prominent the tree has no idea what's going on so it can't react to the extra force that mother nature is putting on its roots/anchor obviously in extreme cases (storms) the tree isn't prepared in any way which is why you're seeing them in your log store . In real extreme cases it can smother the tree but 9 times out of 10 the tree can still survive. I seen many a field ash go over I also seen trees which I thought would fail stand up in the bad winds we had. If I'm being honest it's very hard to predict which trees will fail unless it very obvious like fruting bodies and signs of cavities I took out a few dougles firs at cragside at rothbury these trees were 180 foot they were tomographed being a national trust site and being next to an important building they did it properly and these trees were identified to have been Decayed in the middle. We were instructed to strip them out and leave as poles but I was informed these firs were sound when they were felled. Just trying to say you can go to every lenght to avoid carnage but these trees are living things some are very resilient to winds even though they appear weak and and vice versa to perfectly looking trees it's us professionals that make the decisions and sometimes it's impossible. Oh I've got cherry bit of ash, sycamore and those big blocks that come off pallets
  13. At my old firm I was assigned a 200t and a 441 these were my saws I looked after I had these saws for 4 years. I mentioned the AV bush being a weak point it is but in the 4 years of using that saw it went twice. The reason I would recommend the 461 it's a newer saw it has more power the weight difference isn't noticeable it appares to be better built it doesn't have an electronic carb I belive the 441ck has ( I own a 560 and a 550 but someday we will have issues) and my personal opinion it looks like a proper stihl I also belive it's a quad port saw (correct me if I'm wrong) it'll also have a better resale value. I'm not saying you won't sell your 441 in the future but when I see a 441 on eBay Im not tempted to make any kind of bid on it but f I seen a 460, 461 or even a 440 I actually get a bit excited and have a cheeky bid on it:laugh1: I really would love one I just can't justify chopping in my huskys when work supply the bigger 660 mine do the job then the 66 takes over
  14. My saw has been a complete knacker. 5 rear av springs, new software, new side plate, new chassis and now it's in for a new coil. Chassis took 2 weeks to fix the dodgy software took 4 weeks and this new coil is on its way to being 3 weeks until I get my saw back. I bought the saw in April so I've had to rely on my work mates to lend me their 200s and 201s which isn't acceptable really
  15. If it breaks pretent you use a bungy tool strop otherwise they might refuse to fix it. When I took mine In they asked me if I used one I said yes they went on to say if I didn't use one it'll put more shock on the mount if I wasn't using one and husquvarna will refuse to fix it. Just s heads up chaps
  16. It needs redesigning with better materials
  17. I've had the great pleasure of using both and I much prefer neither I'd rather stick with my 540 that I hate with a passion also it never works. I know some people have spent a lot of money on these saws and I don't mean to be offensive but these saws are no where near petrol powered saws. If anyone has used a mains electric saw that's what they're like. Someday maybe the technology will be there to power smaller more powerful motors but not yet. I find the stihl one dangerous on off switch is the chain break at least with husky you have a button to turn it on and off
  18. CJM

    Ear plugs.

My mate is a drummer and he uses these Alpine MusicSafe Classic | Earplugs For Musicians & DJ's I've often thought if they would be useful for us as you can still hear what's going on but at a safe level.
  19. All great saws they'll serve you well, just want to point out one thing the 441 has a slight weak spot and that's its front av bush if that goes you'll either have to bodge it or replace the chassis of the saw. If it was me it would be a 461 it's one the best saws I've used stihl managed to get a saw right straight out the box
  20. To be fair all husky dealers are selling dodgy saws its under the guise of a 540
  21. I've occasionally use the A530 on a mog and if you can get it in the rollers it'll eat it up. Not sure about maintenance in the pto version but my old firm had a A530 tracked and the maintance was pretty easy on that machine ie blade changes and greasing points
  22. My old firm had an 03,3l trooper. It was a bit slow and thirsty but it did the job it's a bit agricultural, then We got a 55 plate ranger after that and that was so much more refined
  23. Not as bad as yours stubby probably just noticed it in time Spring didn't bend as it was only put on the day before
  24. yes! Mine refuses to run now, I actually hate the thing. 1 weeks use then 2 weeks in the dealer been that routine since I bought it. I actually wouldn't wish a 540 on my worst enemy. I'm having to use my 2nd hated thing in the world..... a silky
