I've drilled the exhaust and removed the limiter on the carb and it made a hell of a difference but my 201 was one of the early ones 2011 which are the worst ones out of the lot. I didn't do the timing because it was my only climbing saw at the time and didn't want to knack it. I've got new top handle now so I'm tempted to do more mods on it to see if I can get it going like a beast. I asked spud if he's ported one but it seems like he hasn't yet or it can't be done

In a way yes but I think about only about 10% of arborists visit arb talk and that percentage will drop when they miss this page If they ever find arbtalk If they want to comp climb they'll do it it no arbtalk thread will convince arborists to climb in comps

I went down my local lawnmower specialist and picked up a second hand 22in 200cc warrior self propelled mower for £50 it was in decent nick no rust and the engine looked brand new and it even had the grass box. It's amazing what these guys have in the back rooms, old part exs I think. It might be worth a shot

If I'm being honest we're just not interested in competitions. No one is really interested in climbing up a tree to touch some tags and throw logs in a bucket on a Saturday morning. I'd rather climb up a tree on a Saturday morning cut some bits off get paid then go home or nurse a hangover Don't mean to be offensive to the competition climbers but that's how it is.

I honestly think about 90% of arborists aren't interested in comps I'm certinatly not. I'd rather spend my free time with my family or pick weeds out of my garden. I've seen a few comps at the shows and quite a few competitors seemed to be collage students I'm not knocking them but it doesn't make more entertaining for the spectators, I'll be brutally honest it is a boring 'sport' to watch

I wouldn't worry about chain speed my hi flex and strech airs are rated at 20m/s a ms200t has a chain speed of 24 m/s The best thing to do is get to a local arb shop and try them on. As for class 1 and 3 I need to wear class 3 because the company I work for has a policy which trousers have to be class 3, I prefer it that way

You can do what ever you want under phone lines. Bt doesn't clear them by doesn't care, if a tree brings one down they'll string it back up probably through the tree again

The best way to become faster is to plan exactly what your going to do on the deck it's about efficiency that's what will make you faster.

Are both of these vehicles under 3.5 ton? If yes you need a driving licence and that's it possibly a b+e depends on what your towing.

It sounds like an oldish ash tree i bet it's been pruned in the past and I'll also bet it'll be the re-growth that'll be taken off I'm also going to go on a limb (see what I did there haha) and say they won't even climb it they'll use insulated rods and a silky head to prune off the re-growth. It's no biggy it's standard stuff they'll take less than an hour and be out your hair for the next 5 years (unless it fails)

You don't need a cpc or a tacho just an operators licence as long as you work within 50km as the bird flies. I went to a dvsa seminar about a month ago this question was asked and this is what they said. Remember the checks every 10 weeks and you'll be fine Edit just re read your post and you don't even need to do anything you're under 3.5 ton it doesn't matter. They put the tachos in vehicles just incase you want to up rate it to 5.5 ton

One more thing it's only maintance so they'll only be taking a small amount off, they only need enough clearance for 3 years then they'll come back and do the same again

Yes let's them, these guys working for the network operaters are qualified arborists. A arborist who isn't authorised to work on the power lines shouldn't cut trees next to them they should be 2 tree lengths away from live power lines. I work for a utility company, I've done 8 years private and commercial 5 of those years were working for an arb approved company so I know how to prune and these lads will too

How do you ring down without spikes?

It's 2 years for a husky I asked a few times when I got my 560 and I've had work done for free on coming to end of the 2 years warrenty on it

It's the fact that for £150 more I can get a brand new saw with 2 years warrenty and in theory a 4-6 year old saw is going to need some work doing on it in 2 years time which the warrenty on a new saw will cover this for free theirs a good chance the work on the older 200 could be a new pot and piston replacement, carb issues and main bearing issues this saw will be knocking on for 8 years after my initial 2 year ownership all this will cost more than the £500+ I paid for the 540 so when I come to sell the 540 I haven't spent a fortune and maybe just maybe stihl or husquvarna have put out a decent top handle, which I can put this money I've received from the 540 towards a better saw which in theory should cost me nothing on repairs. These 200's are mainly used by professionals so they've been worked. My other theory is why on earth are people selling them when they're still the best saw going, something must be wrong or they're prempting a big issue with the saw

That's just too expensive for a 2nd hand saw which will be around 4-6 years old it won't have warrenty (obviously) and I don't know it's history, I'd consider paying that money for a mint one off one of my mates but they just don't want to sell them
