  1. That's only about £50 cheaper than the uk 560. Don't mean to be a buzz kill but I'd rather pay the extra £50 buy it local or online and have warranty
  2. I disagree its a really good saw when you use it but, apart from the engine the rest is made out of old chocolate boxes
  3. I've got a Harkey smock and it's terrible a paper bag would probably keep me dryer
  4. Thanks for the offer Rob but im not to fussed about the warranted work I've got my mighty husky 540 and it's awesome tech light bar ....... I'll send you a picture of the bar just in case it'll come in handy for references in the future though
  5. No. I meant to say if you've got a husky saw an oregan bar or a sugi bar is a must. The oregan bars may come from the same factory but they last so much longer. The stihl bars are one of the best laminated bars out there so if i owned a stihl I'd stick with a stihl bar
  6. I think if you've got a husky a sugi or a Oragen bar is essental if you've got a stihl stick with stihl bars
  7. I would avoid the laminated sugi bar mine cracked and splintered off at the rails after 6 months use on my old 201
  8. If it's just small stuff what about a pole pruner with an easy lift harness. Just trying to think outside the box
  9. The dealers repaired my broken mount under warranty, I got the saw back Friday last week and today the bloody thing won't start its been a nightmare I wish I never bought it
  10. That's a lockjack top tip, it sounds obvious but if your coming from a prussik it doesn't feel natural so it'll take a little time to do it properly
  11. I'm not sure if it's common practice down south but up north and when I climb my groundsmans are competent climbers and vice versa when I ground. I actually hate the word 'groundy' anyway I'm not sure what you are trying to do in that picture a reduction?? If so you can't blame your groundsman for that. A competent climber can reduce a tree and have great communication with your groundsman. The first cut should be discussed with groundsman then the rest is simple specially with that tree. More difficult trees can be guided through with the help of a groundsman. Poor effort my friend
  12. I run my 550 560 and 540 (piece of sh*t) on red stihl 2 stroke oil. They work perfectly fine no issues in the last 2 years.
  13. I've dealt with rob and he was really good to deal with fast delivery and reasonably priced, just a word of warning the laminated sugi bar for the 201 isn't as good as an similar priced oragon bar, my laminated sugi lasted around 4 months of usage and it cracked and lost piece around 1 inch next to the tip so I can see my drive links
  14. I'll take my garmin for my dinner break then
  15. It's a fine line in the uk, sub 750 and it's a 6 incher it'll be awesome for 6 months until the springs and rollers dull and strech. A 1500-2000 machine can be moved on the flat by hand if on slight gradient it's 2+ men to get it shifted. People can twist saying 'you can reverse it in if you can drive in' but unfortunately these people live in a dream world and it's not the case. Small company's spend a small fortune on a machine to do the job of 2 machines (tracked chipper) and manover ability is key. 2 to 3 men can push a greenmech 1928, Jensen a540 and a timberwolf 190 most places ( like back of houses leading to woodlands, grassy fields, tight driveways with obscure access and maybe that time you thought you could get on that field but got stuck you simply unhitch and recover the chipper by hand. If you have a bigger chipper it's a complete ball ache to manover like a Vermeer 220 xl (heaviest chipper I've used) which weighs 2.2 tons a 4x4 will struggle to pull it through a wet field just not suited to our market unless that machine is fitted with tracks but the you're getting on to grab feed territory and that's another rant in its own haha
  16. I've got a garmin only around 9 months old with lifetime map upgrades it cost around £100 from halfrauds I also use a tom tom which has sub locations on it (electrical stuff) and the tom tom blows the garmin out of the water, if I need to go any where in my vehicle I'll use the works tom tom. The garmin which looks nice will take you on obscure routes unlike the tom tom, you can set the garmin for fastest or shortest route it'll still take you a weird way to your destination. Unfortunately my missus bought me the garmin for Xmas so I'm stuck with it haha
  17. A few lads I know run home made splitters essentially a girder with a ram attached and it's powered buy a hydraulic power pack. I'd look down that route if I was in you. Best thing is you can stick it in your shed once your finished
  18. I've had enough of my 540 this was it's final straw
  19. I think if you are in a position to buy a chipper you can spend £500 more and get your b+e. If you look at the bigger picture a bigger chipper will save you more time and money and if you get a few decent jobs in that week the B+E is paid for because you've went for a bigger machine which has saved you a day or two on the job
  20. My 550xpg is a 2013 model I got mine very cheap because someone ran over it with a tracked chipper a new fuel tank later and it's been spot on ever since. Not really a fan of heated handles they're a gimmick, if your hands are cold you're not working hard enough
  21. I've got a 560 and it's one of the best medium groundsaws out there I run an 18in on it it pulls a 20in exactly the same as an 18in I was a tight arse when I bought the bar and chain haha, I've also got a 550xpg and that saw is a cracking little saw specially with a 15in bar on it, I've put an old 18in bar and chain on it at the moment and surprisingly it pulls it well, it's obviously not a 560 but if you need those extra inches for that odd day it'll graft for you
  22. An accountant trying to boost sales for local dealers
  23. Hey I have a ryobi strimmer/ hedge trimmer a poor mans kombi haha and it's great for my garden
  24. The tech lite bars are terrible I've seen that happen before. I rarely have chains fall off but on my 540 with that bar on it happens more often than if would like. It's actually getting to the point where I'll have to bin the chain which has about 70% left on the cutters because the drive links are getting smashed up so much.
  25. The 150 is really getting on now I'm glad timber wolf have made an upgrade it was starting to become a pencil sharpener compared to the rest of the competition. I feel for pure brash chipping power for a sub 750kg machine a greenmech 15/23 arborist is a better chipper not as refined as a forst but if you can get it in those big rollers it'll take it. In my opinion the 150 greenmech is turd it sits far to low usually giving me a bad back and those side rollers just don't have the same effect as a conventional chipper brash always gets stuck specially since you sacrifice hight for width it just limits you meaning more snedding. Our chipper is a 190 tracked I hope they upgrade this machine too, something similar to the greenmech safe track 19/28??? Adjustable tracks is a must and so is speed these timberwolf tracks are painfully slow and some big powerfull rollers to gobble up hawthorn
