    Tree Topping

the starbucks video was ace ha ha
  3. Hi im not sure of the age. They are replacing the drum free of charge as its an age where they failure occured due to welding. Ill source my own main bearings which come to about £58 local. Will get a new set of blades and screws fas well. I just cant reiterate enough to check the blade gap weekly. I dont use mine much, so its gone from running fine to fouling inside a job only chipping aspen. It started to hunt, then metal contact. Not sure if the hunting was caused by the vibration? Had to tap starter to get it to crank on this job aswell. Probably cos it lives outside covered up, will have to have a garage clearout. I absolutely love the machine, as I keep 3inch and above for firewood its ideal. Jase/GM has been great and i was relieved as money isn't plentiful right now.
  4. Yes got it apart and the drum is cracked one side, I have spoke to Jase at Greenmech. Keep an eye out for that before it gets bad enough to wipe out a blade, unfortunately I'll have to replace one.
  5. Anybody ever tried green mech cs100 blade? How much can you take off before the tempering is lost? Presuming the temper isnt perfect as you get deeper in to the material
  6. Looks like i may have the same problem. The newly turned blade is contacting the outside circumference of the casette on the oppodite side than the anvil. Is there a chance the bearings have worn that way? Or most likely cracked?
  7. I’d say it is, only rigging line ive got. Just fancied bumping this thread as found quite useful
  8. Great thread keep your chin up boys. Sometimes the mojo goes especially this time of year. Buy some new kit and that'll focus the mind. I love to potter in the shed so will have a good tidy up next chance I get as others have said.
  9. Someone told me about this and it works brilliantly. First thing in the morning when your still nice and warm, hold your hands in a icy puddle for as long as you can bear it and i mean until its painful. Normally takes around 2-3 mins and the icier the better. After the initial shock you'll have double blood flow all day and pretty much you wont need gloves. I used it when I went skiing and lost my gloves, people were looking at me like I was mad but hands felt great. If you dont wait long enough you just end up with cold hands though.
  10. The constant theme on this site is guys saying they dont get paid enough and how rates haven't gone up. Then along comes a bloke saying "£10p/h isn't worth an early start to me, i'll leave that one." Thats a good thing. Then folks saying he's an ungrateful twat is a bit much I'd say.
  11. To be honest, what happens in London I don't give a toss, even if the whole place burnt down, sick of hearing London this, London that. Might as well be a different planet. Any folks that pay thousands for a stove install that they use a few times a year will be happy to pay it. I doubt they will acyually bring it in though. sorry rant over
  12. That tiny hole i think is where it should be.
  13. No pic but the tap on mine is under the right hand side of the fuel tank near the ignition-ish and fuel ON is when the vane is in down position, fuelOFF is vane pointing to 9 o'clock.
  14. I use the hitch climber with spliced 13mm yale XTC. I found only felt comfortable with a distel hitch but as it all got btoken in i added a small chord with snap hook onto the bottom turn of the hitch (from the spare hitch climber hole) to help stop it binding up tight. only do one job in a tree a month so its hard to justify any more gear, but its good fun all the same no matter what i do i cannot body thrust for the life of me so got a foot acender now to. May eventually get the HAAS one but not many jobs i do justify it.
  15. spliced eye keeps it much tidier well worth extra cash
  16. Thats a good tip, cutting to car boot length i like it
  17. the stuff i looked at by everbuild was going to work out over £100 for my 75sqm drive so i left it due to the fact i dont want to be doing that every couple of years. I think its very similar to a PVA glue solution as a cheaper option. May do a small area as a trail. PVA always brings stuff out in a rich colour when coating brick for plastering etc Is there any areas where water stands? I think the only thing which stops growth is a stiff brushing every couple of months. Iv'e laid mine with a good fall so hopefully no problems.
  18. Yes I do have a honda ezy push mower, i should give it a try really. I also have a dying mountfield, i could bend the blade down on one side to break up the twigs up as a trail run but not sure of the suction effect
  19. On the look out for a decent mower then, nice one chaps
  20. Might have trouble getting those past the misses?
  21. Thats a touch over kill for me though?
  22. I have a honda ezy 16 inch push but ive never tried it. I was thinking of a machine that would tackle conifer hedge as its a pain to put through the chipper
  23. Hi there, does anybody use a mulching mower for hedge trimmings? I saw a video last night and a guy runs a mulcher over the trimmings and then blows the pile into the hedge. Cleans up a treat. Not thought of this before. i know nothing about mulching whats a good machine to start. i only do a few jobs weekends etc.
  24. Those HAAS jobbers arent cheap! Really £150, i just read this thread looking for best foot ascender and decided to get both types but maybe not. As its not PPE its just an assistance device i cant believe that price. As an occasional user i think i’ll fall under ‘innovator’?
  25. Out of all the jordan peterson stuff ive watched bible/god is not even 1%
