  1. Hi, How long does pop take to dry to firewood if split? Not used it before. And what size trailer? regards Mikey
  2. some shooting apps have good clinos on them. Measure then move until 45 degrees then pace in to the trunk. Should be same as height... I think.
  3. Just to follow up, they didn't have those wheels in stock. They contacted me and said they do have a foam filled, steel wheel WITH ROLLER BEARING! Even better so went for that. I'd only seen those from the states before.
  4. These dont look bad for 25mm with roller bearings, they're hard to find. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Two-16-4-80-400-8-puncture-proof-flat-free-roller-bearing-wheelbarrow-launch/321845629494?hash=item4aef7e9236:g:qOMAAOSwDNdV3xI~

    Lewis winch

I saw cyclone winches and they are pretty reasonable for 1000kg pull. In a frame for protection. Honda engines.
  7. Yes they look smart and really professional with the right end caps etc. Surprised theres not a few more places sell that stuff.
  8. how much it cost roughly per plank? Do they weigh much? I have 2.5 x 1.5m flatbed i would like to have a go at.
  9. sounds decent, I been looking at the deben and similar in germany. i see the atlas tippers have the same 3 way.
  10. how often do you use the 3 way tip? Whats it like fully loaded?
  11. Enjoyed reading this get it going again:-)
  12. My mate buys trailers from germany as his other halfs family are over there. Think you need to get insurance, registration and stuff, but still works out very cheap. its just may not be quite as simple as walking out with it. But the ferry is not much more so may as well bring two back i'd say That flat bed with winch looks ace.
  13. I just got this with some platinum blades https://www.amazon.co.uk/Quality-Adjustable-Double-Safety-Razor/dp/B06Y3ZWNWK/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1518723171&sr=8-2&keywords=qshave https://www.amazon.co.uk/100-Astra-Superior-Platinum-Shaving/dp/B00CK7NQ8Y/ref=pd_sim_121_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=C17Z8WWA88HGQCQP2YWF Absoloutly great, Its a copy of german one which retails at 55 quid
  14. Graphite powder in a puffer bottle as mentioned above. Keep locks dry that way.
  15. Keep this thread going lads, great reading
  16. That Thor machine looks ok, would they be better/on parr with the Riko machines?
  17. I love reading these posts, bit late i know. Just thinking of buying a larger trailer to bring some seasoned cordwood home.
  18. Jon, Message sent, Mikey (ostosix)
  19. Sandpiper, thats a good tip about vapour barrier. Ashes Firewood... thats what i was thinking! I maybe better selling it.
  20. I cut a large oak tree down in April and it was split by May, so i've a garden over loaded with timber, but dont think it'll be dried for this winter. Was hoping to speed things along. When I've had my burner on, i've noticed when the temp goes up to say 25 degC humidity drops to 50% (on my geeky little meter), where as its normally 85%. So heat does obviously dry wood, but is it the drop in humidity that helps it along? My main plan is to eventually have a large poly tunnel which will have closed doors with fans and dehumidifer. I'll have it all switch on timed between 11 and 4 when solar is good and high temps in the tunnel. If I could speed upthe process into shorter than a summer with out continuous running cost i'd say it'll be worth the effort. Starting to get enough wood to flog some now but storage space is tight and limits things a bit. Cheers
  21. Hi there, just wondering does anybody dry firewood using a domestic dehumidifier? I thought of this as sometimes we dry our washing in the dining room with one and its fast with doors shut. I was thinking of a small shed fairly well airtight and wheeling in a warehouse cage of split oak one at a time. My solar panels will provide power so effectivley drying wood quicker cost free. All your thoughts are welcome. Cheers
  22. Id say it was just from salt in a winters worth of gritting, always wise to jet wash underneith once a month and if nothing else, a heavy wash session at the end of the winter.
  23. Cool hope so. Will need my impact gun on it the bolts were that tight a breaker bar wouldnt do em. Fingers crossed that means there should be a few spare edges still useable. Cheers
  24. In Lincoln, machine only for private use so as long as its safe to operate it and clean to run H&S stuff isnt a major issue, could be wrong of course. Such things as an emergency stop i would prefer out of common sense as it doesnt have one at the moment. If i get plenty of use out of it ill probably get a new mini chipper in a few years but couldnt afford the exspense at the moment. Ill ring round and price up the anvil if its less than 100 ill probably buy one unless i can get it built up cheap.
  25. Cheers, doesnt seem to be a heavy leak just more of a weep but that much old chips stuck around the bottom roller i could get close enogh to see it directly. Pete, ill try and get a copy of the makers manual hopefully may have details in there about the valve. Happy enough to get a new set of blades and helpful if the anvil can be built up. Suppose this would be a specalist welding job? Is the anvil the same material as the blades?
