  1. I think all this deferred interest on loans, deferred rates, rent ,VAT and tax is going to cause an avalanche of bankruptcies in the new year. Its allowing firms that would normally go pop right now to basically trade while insolvent for another six months, some of these will rack up monumental debt and legally just walk away from it, god help the pension pot.   2. Nice work and what these shears are all about. Currently looking at a load of gorse clearance contracts for later in the year and was thinking its tree shear territory if they will allow tracks on the Heather. Bob
  3. I made up a grab that fitted the quick hitch on our 2.7 ton machine. It worked in the same plane as the tree shears but without the shear, we used it in conjunction with cutters to pull regen of about 6" + diameter trees off of step cuts. Dont think I would want to hold and slew with anything much bigger on that size machine and that was with an attachment considerably lighter than a shear.You definitely need to plan what you are doing and where you are laying it down, once you start chasing the timber to the floor you are committed, there is no standing it back up. 13 + ton machines are a different ball game.   5. If you are not in a hurry just araldite the allen bit into the cap screw and forget about it for a day. If its not seized in there it will undo. Bob
  6. A guy I know knocks these out as a side line, stand about 4` tall. They really chuck out the heat and the smoke goes straight up, you can easily stand ten people around it
  7. Archie you need to be a bit more specific, is this all nice straight sticks that will load onto a timber trailer or is it a load of knarly arb waste that needs to go in a bulker bin? Species, rough location? Always worth putting in a bit more info, you may even get paid for it. Bob

  9. Its the way it is now, ours is a standard national for four trucks and three trailers so a tad more than restricted and that needs to available at all times.   10. Re the finances, this has to be available at all times or it may lead to a license being revoked. Just dump it into a deposit account and forget about it ,you can never be sure when they will visit and do a spot check. Bob
  11. Its ok to run from home if you have off road parking, the application will go through if there are no complaints from neighbours or the council. Allow a bit of time for the whole process because it can drag on a bit. For what you are doing you will only need a restricted Olicense, you wont need the driver CPC and you can run tacho exempt. As Ian says depending on mileage you can extend from 8 to 12 weekly inspections. You will need to leave a few quid in the bank to prove financial standing. Bob
  12. All these vehicles have their use, its not about what's best. 4x4 tippers come into their own in a different way to a transit especially when working off the beaten track, we sometimes use ours to relay gear out of jobs where a 2wd wont go. Bob
  13. Here you go Tom. Tippers pivot point tied into the drawbar drop plates. Frame behind the cab supported on the 50x50 box which is just enough for the tipper chassis to clear the hump in the chassis where it goes over the axle. And just enough room on some of them for side lockers.
  14. I will take a few snaps of the ones we have here, the rear pivot points and tow bar plates/drawbar can all be combined as a unit which adds a lot of beef to the rear of the chassis, again I will take a few snaps. Bob
  15. Very nice Alex. There is room under there for a shovel, broom and rake which are another few essential bits of kit stowed out of the way . Mick Dundee made up some small bent steel brackets to retain these between the lower tipper chassis rails. Bob
  16. Trailed or quad mounted weed wipes flatten more vegetation than they wipe, its all a bit hit and miss . Bob

  18. I got one and used it with the steam cleaner and yes it was a little slow but compared to what? Compared to anything I have used that runs off a workshop sized compressor I would say they are quick, our workshop compressor is a bit of a monster and that wont keep up with the pot below. I have since sold the one below and bought a proper Hodge Clemco set up that runs off a single tool road tow compressor, even that is nothing compared to my mates two tool and eight bag pot. for fast blasting you need shit loads of air, the more air you have the less sand you need.   19. If its only a few bits and pieces have a look at wet blasting, its a syphon that takes in kiln dried sand and adds it to the pressure washer lance. Really effective and no dust to breathe, decant the sand into a clean and dry 20ltr container which will keep the sand dry and away you go. The scissor type ram/tipping gear will all be mounted between the upper and lower sub chassis`s, nothing hangs below this so everything you put on the back whether single or double cab will sit on the chassis you have. If you look at the two chassis`s below you will notice they are basically the same, there are two forward bodymounts that will need 50x50 box section on top of them to bring them up to the same level as the other fixing points. What you will be doing is mounting the cut down tipper body and sub chassis`s as close to the hump in the chassis where it goes over the axle as you can. All the tipper gubbins will be sat over the mid cross member/tank/ spare wheel, nothing hangs down. Just slide your cut down tipper onto the chassis and bolt down to all the lugs available. Bob
  23. The easiest and cheapest tipper conversion for any pickup is to adapt the Ali planked Transit type tipper bodies. They are riveted together and can be dis assembled, shortened, width reduced with a wood saw and riveted/bolted back together. The only " fabrication" needed is to shorten the subframes and reduce the width of the bolster, you dont need to get involved with the tipper geometry because its the front bit you are cutting off so the hinge to ram ratio remains untouched , the ram etc stays where it is. Bob There was enough ali planking left over on this one to add some extra height to the sides.
