  2. Back a mulcher through there.Probably an hours work if you put a groundie with it. Bob
  3. Some @eggsarascal porn.
  4. Transit door went into lockdown. Used my glass removing tools to take out the quarterlight.. That was no help, the door would still not open so with the help of an angry grinder and some red mist I made a few precision cuts to access the lock. Tin of touch up paint from halfords Not really, fitted another door off an old snotter thats parked up for bits.
  5. A lot of trust and respect needed on both sides of the fence with this sort of work, it’s no open cheque book. These customers are also friends, most of the work is discussed in restaurants, last time out four of them got me seriously bladdered. Bob
  6. We have been on this estate for about ten years now, its like some of the others we do I don't think we will ever escape. Bob
  7. One of my lads stopped off at the corner shop yesterday and they had an 89p Tesco bog rolls marked up at £12, they never even bothered covering up the 89p. Anyway top tip, force the kids to use both sides, that’ll make the little blighters wash their hands. Bob
  8. A bit more concrete the lads have been doing for a couple of portacabin bases, about 22mts pumped in.
  9. No panic here atm but do wonder where all this will be six months down the road. Bob
  10. Sounds like the one of the roller motors is goosed and the blades are beating each other up.These motors are piped in series, as in what is the return for one motor is the feed for the next, if only one of them slows it means fluid is pumping straight through it ( fecked). Worth checking, wedge the bridge up to give the rollers some space and tipex them, then run the rollers to see if they stay in synch. They should be turning at the same speed. Bob
  11. You are only an apprentice miserable bastard Kevin, you need to blow out a few more candles to gain full status. I suppose it would depend on how thorough the service was . You could easily lose half a day going through a chipper if you were checking the running gear/brakes, doing the oils/filters, checking through the electrics, belt tensions, blowing out the crap, cleaning out the tank, anvils/knives bearings and on ...................... Bob
  12. Was up to its nuts on a bogging old building site but the lads tugged it out with the excavator, no one tailgated it on the drive back to the yard ?
  13. Nothing to be scared of with common rail providing the person servicing it knows what he is doing. There are a lot of clueless fitters out there that when faced with a problem just keep changing expensive bits until it runs. Its important to find a mechanic that has the proper diagnostic kit and knows how to use it. Bob
  14. Some European countries give farmers a diesel quota, certain acreage = X amount of rebated fuel . When its used up that's your lot until the next year. Bob
  15. The seal on the shaft that you can see is only a case seal, as in it shouldn't be getting any pressure behind it. Its not unusual for wire and crud to get in there an chew up these seals, worth putting a new seal in and see how it goes. Certainly worth changing the hydraulic filter because its a filtered return system so if blocked could increase the hydraulic motors case pressure. Bob Typical of the sort of crap you can find around the motor shaft.
  16. I suppose the answer to the question is irrespective of the moisture content the calorific value of the timber remains the same. If you were controlling the boilers draught to suit room temperature the dry log would be running with the damper virtually closed while the logs with a higher moisture content would need more draught for the same heat. Bob
  17. Triggers broom comes to mind Mr Flock. Bob
  18. Are any of these shredders actually a shredder or are they all small versions of a wood chipper with knives? I could do with something to put the rakings through but it would have to be a proper shredder that could handle a few stones and a bit of dirt . Bob
  19. Did he get his FMOC Gary? Bob
  20. Start off as you intend to continue and run legal. 1. Invest in yourself and get a licence to drive a 7.5 ton + truck and trailer. 2. Apply for an O license. ( restricted will do), use all the exemptions that apply to arb and tacho rules if they apply. 3. Get a tipper truck with a grab if you can , decent sized chipper, bigger overweight chippers and trucks are cheaper to buy. 4. Happy days, spend more time working than driving about overloaded while looking over your shoulder for plod or vosa Bob
  21. Nip the tops off, drop a rope over the sticks and pull them out with a Tirfor. Bob
  22. Jobs a job, dont see a problem Bob
  23. Travelling to and from Mars at £1 a mile though would kill it Donk. A decent earth based crane on a truck around here with someone that knows what he is doing is about £650 for a morning. Bob
  24. That one above is about £1200 for the week including the fly jib and good for lumps of 5ton close in, being 4x4 it will also get in a lot closer to a tree than most truck based cranes. Bob
  25. A mates got this Manitou telehandler crane on hire to put together his timber framed house, impressive bit of kit and would lend itself to takedowns. Road registered and hire for the week is less than the cost of a truck based crane would be for the day. There are a few different models, this one is good for 5 tons and 32mts Manitou MRT3255 Rotational Telehandler Hire | Roto & Heavy Lift Telehandlers, UK, Online | Ardent WWW.ARDENTHIRE.COM Ardent offer professional plant hire and sales services, we offer a wide range of equipment including Roto & Heavy Lift...
