  1. With the help of Man Friday of course Bob
  2. Sounds like more trouble than its worth, would it not be easier to ring it up and throw it onto a workboat or pontoon? Our small steel boat can manage over three tons so it would only be two trips in something like the one below. Bob
  3. Cant really ignore it Paul, the girl in the office has run off a few copies for the lads to read and the disclaimer is there for them to sign. Bob
  4. I suppose I had better get our climbers to sign a disclaimer Re the use of SRT. Bob
  5. Fit a Nato ring on you trailer, they wont go in a normal ring/ballhitch combo and short of dragging it down the road on a chain they will be fecked. 533 × 400 Just need one of these on the tow wagon.
  6. Its been made very easy J. Most of the bigger developers will buy your old house, arrange a mortgage ,help with legals, stamp duty and the move. None of this is available from smaller builders or private sellers. Bob
  7. Fail to see the attraction in giving a 4x4 pickup the capacity to carry three time its legal capacity. One of these bigger tipping bodies eats into what is effectively less than a one ton payload. I am with Mick, not so sure I could bring myself to part with 4k+ on a body for a truck with virtually no load carrying capacity. For £500 or less and a weekend on the spanners you can cut down a transit body complete with all the hydraulics, both of the ones below are cut down transit bodies. Bob The old hilux with less than a ton on it
  8. Some of the after market gear is of acceptable quality and some is tosh, picking through it can be challenging. For engine parts I would go OEM and plastics aftermarket, cant think of any plastic bits I have bought that have been a problem. They just look shit Bob
  9. Some were Cummins, Cats but this one has a 410 Perkins TX. Bob
  10. Very sad day today , time for a tractor unit upgrade so I sold my old beast of Foden which I have run for over fifteen years . Its been off the road a while now, I was going to restore it and take it to shows but dont seem to get the time for toys these days.I got back virtually all it cost me , how bad can that be for a truck that had a very hard life, covered 1.8 million miles and never had a penny spent on it other than service items, a clutch and tyres? Whatever fills its boots has a lot to live up to.
  11. Cherry pickers come with their own built in bead breakers
  12. I keep stroking the buy it now button on this Daf 45 210 Hookloader 12 ton + bin WWW.EBAY.CO.UK 5 ton capacity. 210 horse power. 290000 mil. MOT UNTIL 1 February 2020.
  13. For arb work the hook system is the way to go , 10/12 ton hook loaders can typically carry five tons and are no bigger than a 7.5 tonner. Keep a couple of bins to seperate out chips /chogs and a tray for moving machines about. Whats not to like Bob
  14. After thirty years of sharpening the same saw he must have unwittingly invented the Silky. Bob
  15. No, `z doesn't know what he`s saying either, probably been on the sauce. Bob
  16. Too early for me `z. There would need to be two categories, employed and self employed. Most self employed dont switch off even when they are not at work, its a different mindset. Bob
  17. All the yank truck manufacturers compete in the same class categories, my old chev V8 diesel could legally carry about a ton and tow six, flick through the link to see typical yank load/towing capacities. Bob Chevy Silverado Towing and Payload WWW.DRIVEKELLEY.COM Fort Wayne Indiana loves the Chevy Silverado towing and payload capabilities. Test drive one today at Kelley Chevrolet!
  18. My mates got one and running light its a flying machine but my empty IW trailer really knocks the wind out of its sails, that POS delicious of mine pulls it better at lower rpm. Like all this fly by wire shit you hit the throttle, that sends a signal off to the ECU demanding a team of horses which are overridden by exhaust sniffers who send in the pony.Keep it all stirred up and its good but imho that all a bit fussy for a tow barge. Bob
  19. Its all a bit of a juggling act really, if possible its better to trade on someone's strengths while accommodating their foibles and throw in a few mind games to turn them around. I certainly wouldn't allow a situation like this to upset me. Bob
  20. Stop fucking around J and get this thing bought, 300bhp and 520lbs/ft torque GMC Sierra 2500HD 6.6 Duramax V8 Diesel Long Bed - Ideal 5th wheel/tow truck WWW.EBAY.CO.UK Click here to read more on this Stunning GMC Pickup.
  21. Nothing a few mods couldn't sort out J Bob 570 × 855
  22. Pretty much `z , if being a subby is what floats your boat keep it simple and invest in yourself. Get all the tickets so you can take your saws anywhere and don't have to turn anything down. Bob
  23. Personally if I was starting out as a subby I would forget machines, trucks and chippers. Fill you face with tickets so you can work absolutely anywhere and travel light. Nothing worse on away work than having the worry of kit and its security. Bob
  24. Nice idea in its infancy Mick but I can imagine if it gains popularity on a commercial basis it will soon use up all the permutations of three word combinations , probably end up going to four, five six or more. GPS coordinates are still as good as it gets. Bob
