  1. I put it further up the field in a hedgerow Mick, client is going to get it carved into some sort of bench. Bob
  2. These sets from Bergen are ok as jobbers taps and dies, not workshop quality but good enough if you shave the hair off your knuckles. About £60 ish, good set to throw in the service truck. Bob Edit: The only thing I use an 18mm tap for is Lambda probe bosses, are you sure its 18mm thread and not 18mm spanner size? Bob
  3. You may earn a crust out of it J but I doubt if the client will see any return by the time everyone's had a slice of the cake. May pay to get a buncher in there to lay it all down and follow up with the tonka toy to extract . Bob
  4. J ,back a mulcher over it and get planting through the mat, if that stand is as brittle as some that I have worked in you will have snapped out tops beating up your kit. Bob
  5. If you can take the log to the saw you could use a deck saw, I bought one for chogging down big sticks on site, still looking for a suitable track frame to mount it on. This sort of thing, can take up to a 12` bar. Hold a few gallons of chain oil, and will run off a donkey engine, leccy motor or tractor PTO. Bob
  6. Quiet yes but not so sure you would want to swing one around all day, heavy things and the pipes restrict movement . Also need to make sure if you buy one its got a chain oiler, some are meant for underwater use and are not fitted with them. Bob
  7. Probably a bit different for us , we normally insist on having sole possession of site and are in there long before any roads, fences , site huts or builders. Bob
  8. I have a wallet full of tickets Saul, no one has ever asked to see any of them and we work for a fair few big names . I found my original CITB machine ops certs the other day, A4 laminated things and no expiry dates, long before the introduction of the credit card sized tickets. Bob
  9. Does it make any difference? I had never been asked to produce a cert in 62 years until the other day and that was just a glance. You can either do your job or you cant. Bob
  10. Tradesman day rates 2017/2018 The UK average daily rates for the some of the more popular trades include: Carpenters: £120 – £150 Bricklayer: £155 Labourer: £100 – £160 Electricians: £150 – £200 Plumbers: £150 – £200 Builders: £120 – £200 Gardeners: £90 – £160
  11. We do have a hand in this Al. For many years now kids have been fobbed off with just about anything from computer games to any hair brained activity just to buy their silence and get them from under our feet. Its a far cry from the way my father raised us, he involved us in just about everything he did from a very early age whether tinkering in the garage at weekends or working every day during the school holidays for pocket money. It was simple work ethics instilled in us whereby if we wanted something we had to earn it. There is no want in many youngsters today because they simply don't know the meaning of the word and that seriously impacts on their work ethics. We have all had our heads up our arses far too long and need to slow down a bit, perhaps focus a bit more on the kids. They know or need fuck all because we have taught them fuck all, that's our fault. Bob
  12. Forgot to post up that windblown across a footpath from the other day that had the hornets nest in the middle. The adjacent field stayed dry enough to get the truck alongside so craned it out of there.Twas a lump. The chimp wanted to be included
  13. A transit Jack, put a ton in the transit and tow a ton on a trailer. Bob
  14. Spotted this on the bay of thieves, bit of potential here. I dont speak the language or I might have been tempted to call. Bob Volvo FL10 c/w Fassi crane & Flyjib WWW.EBAY.CO.UK Volvo FL10 rigid with rear mounted Fassi M9 (30t/m) with fly jib. Reaches 19m with Fly, 8.5m without. No electronics on it...
  15. I am pig sick Dan, we have been burning millions of pounds worth of stumps for about a month

  17. Goblins are still busy here
  18. Went to crane this windblown off a footpath the other day and had to abandon ship because there was a huge Hornets nest on there. Brave man up there from pest control , they were very angry
  19. I have recommended the farm 2000 to a fair few people and none of them run the accumulator. The shutter and fan system on them is so good it actually behaves like a conventional gas or oil boiler. Once you have built up a decent bed of ashes ( important) cram as much gear in there as you can and shut the door, the fan/stat take care of the rest on demand. One guy can get a weeks burn out of his if its well packed in there , his is up on blocks at wheel barrow height so he can load and rake out ashes straight from the barrow. By far the best chog/arb waste burner on the market. Bob
  20. I agree but its never normally just the machine, most of us with slews have got grabs buckets, rakes and other kit that also need a ride. Quite often need to drop a machine off and then go fetch bagged material , fencing or drainage gear which is normally forklifted on. All of which would be a ballache in a plant trailer. Tilts are good all rounders.
  21. If that was a double drive unit I would have grabbed it Bob
  22. Dedicated digger trailers are a bit of a one trick pony, a tiltbed or beavertail plant trailer is far more use and a lot easier to strap down machines on. Just saying. Bob
  23. Ex utility make a lot of sense, usually well maintained and available at a fraction of the true cost of such a vehicle. Got my eye on this one
  24. Wasn't that long ago we burnt heretics in this country Bob
  25. With the help of Man Friday of course Bob
