  1. Sound, found one with synthetic rope. A mil spec one, around six tonne which is plenty for my needs. Around five hundred sterling on Ebay.
  2. Thanks, also i've heard it's good practice to split the load between two batteries. My '03 Hilux has two 12v batteries wired in parallel so one would be tapping power off both so as not to drain one battery completely i believe. Correct?
  3. I'll be in the market for one of these, not at those prices though!
  4. How come the Winchmax winches are so cheap compared to the Superwinch Talon? Can you get winch rope instead of steel cable on the Winchmax winches?
  5. What's the best 4 by 4 mountable recovery winch for tree work? I have my eye on a 4-1/2 tonne Superwinch Talon. It will be mounted on a 3ltr Toyota Hilux. Any good? Thoughts, opinions?
  6. Complement in a way, a great performer but not a great saw to look at. The 660 is comparable in terms of performance but is easier on the eye.
  7. Agreed, 660/661 or Husky 395 would be pushing it!
  8. .404 on a 60cc saw, i don't think so. Imo .404 is for 660/661 or 395/3120. The 562xp comes with large Husky mount 3/8" 7 pin. Imo full skip chain is for 70cc saws and up.
  9. Beyond me why Teulelberger haven't upgraded the T.M, a T.M mark two is overdue. Change the shock cord attachments for the leg straps and make a decent chest harness with life support and it would be the perfect harness i.m.o.
  10. I've had my eye on a potential second harness for some time and the Simarghu has been top of that wish list for a while. The webbing straps that attach the leg pads to the main part of the harness are preferable to the shock cord on the T.M imo. I like to keep the leg loops closed and then just step in and pull up the harness, this is always a struggle with the T.M and i usually get twanged in the arse with the shock cord. The other thing that the Simarghu has is the fully integrated chest harness with life support as apposed to the T.M which has an optional set of suspenders which are more of an afterthought and have reviewed very badly.
  11. I bought the Arbpro spike adaptor for the foot ascender but haven't had a chance to try it out yet. I've used the foot ascender on a few rec climbs and it's a great asset when ascending away from the main stem. I got the left leg version as my right knee is weak from an old injury. I climb ddrt with either a prussik or hc system. Recently bought a zigzag and i'm going to try it with the foot ascender to see how it works out.
  12. I'm usually a size 10 or Euro size 44 but the dealer advised a 9-1/2 or Euro 43 as the Andrews are a big fit.
  13. In my experience the 372xp/xt runs a 24" just fine especially with a full skip chain.
  14. I got that feeling when i used a 550 for the first time, what a saw!
  15. The best video tutorial i've seen on the black art of chain sharpening.
  16. I bought mine from H.B two Weeks ago but haven't climbed on it yet. Seems like the mk3 hasn't had any failures.
  17. I bought mine in Jan of this Year but have only worn them on a few jobs as i'm minding them! I use my Fellhunters mostly. The Andrews are a very comfortable boot and great for climbing on reductions/pruning but not too nice with spikes. I usually take a size ten but the Andrews are a smaller fit, so nine and a half for me. I'd recommend them although i can't say how long they'd last if i had them on every Day.
  18. It's the logical result of the race to the bottom that exists in the industry. Very sad for his family, R.I.P.
  19. I'm in love with the 550, what a saw!
