Nice bench I love using Bone Oak it just has something real cool about it me and my girlfriend did some gates using Bone Oak I will try and find some pics there are some on hear somewhere just put some Bone Oak Bumpers on our hotrod Moggie Minor they look ace, how long did it take I would defo oil it ,a good coat of teak oil or osmo would totally transform it , Cool As though

  4. Here’s some of the Strawberry Wood that Mr Rough Hewn very kindly arranged for us getting our sticky fingers on. My much under credited other half created this fish shaped platter.
  5. Hi Squaredy have you milled any silver birch as you mentioned birch it dont seem to grow very wide
  6. Nice floor ,and that butt being milled is totally cool ,I have never had any Alder might have to look out for some am I right in thinking that some woodsmen will not fell it as its bad luck
  7. I found the opposite its still hard after sitti g in the yard for 4/5 yrs
  8. Nice bowl I just got a chuck for my lathe so now need some bowl gauges
  9. Just right for a resin table but being Holly its surprisingly hard ,so we now have a couple of book matched pairs and a few other boards all for sale
  10. Hi Jon yeah it does apply to all timbers but some last longer than others that Holly had been in the yard for at least 4 yrs maybe more 6/7 maybe so yeah lucky with it .
  11. Had this Holly sawlog in the yard for some time; it had got buried at the bottom of a pile I’ve finally worked through but when I put it on the mill and took off the 1st slice I was glad it got left as long as it did…I’ve never seen Holly spalt like that before, pleasantly surprised!

  14. So Woodmizer charge almost 500quid for a day when most of their kit is expensive that takes the piss if you ask me I bet Chris at Woodland Mills wouldnt do that .

Hi I need someone who has a 8 wheeler flatbed with a hi ab who is up for moving some crates of timber and prob some planks from just over the Dartford crossing to Blandford in Dorset I need it done ASAP there will most likley be 2 trips if anyone is up for this or knows someone who might be please PM me Thanks Mark

Hi Thanks guys for the comments ,so Will C there isnt much control over where it goes ,you paint a bicarb and warm water soloution on the board between the electrodes and it just kinda goes for it I will take some vids ,been looking for a cheap GoPro so I can try and do vids of that kind of thing ,we did it in the dark one evening around 6ish and it was so cool ,so if anyone has a gopro they dont want use give me a shout and maybe we could have a swap .   19. I have always had this when milling on my own the weight of the saw tends to drop the cut for the last few inches try leaning on the inner mill frame I think thats what Rob D said to me but it only happens when milling on my own hope this kinda helps

Hi guys so I haven't posted any pics of what I have been doing for a while so thought I would, this is Atlus Cedar that quite likes the Litchenburging ,now I can't decide to put some glow in the dark resin in it or not going to cut it up and make a box out of it like a small treasure chest .   23. Oh well no worries ,there is a nice Treka Saw ,and this totally mad thing its like an Alaskan bandsaw ,that you can then stand on end and use like a workshop bandsaw totally cool but not very wide cut cant remember what make it was .
  24. I would go with Muttleys advise get an orbital sander and maybe some wax polish remover ,Strip then Sand 120 grit up to 400 should do wipe off with spirit then apply a finish , Colron do a good water based lacqure that is hot coffee cup resistant I have tested it .
