  1. "Can you spot my mistake??" should only have one ?
  2. Wonky horizon in your photography.
  3. Matthew.... your inbox is full
  4. The only time I've seen police response within minutes was when we witnessed somebody carrying a gun.... quite impressive how fast it was dealt with! Turned out it was a starting pistol. cheers, Steve
  5. ....maybe bulldoze the entrance gate too so the bulldozer can fit through.
  6. I've seen some roadside hedges being moved via bulldozers. They 'doze through the soil so it carries most of the roots and then tidy up the earthy bank and any exposed roots by adding topsoil. Works very well if you have clear access. Maybe bulldoze the houses to make room for bulldozing the hedges..... cheers, steve
  7. Why dya think that's Turkey oak? cheers, Steve
  8. No need to go now.... see photos on arbtalk! cheers, steve
  9. They filmed Merlin & Harry Potter at Puzzlewood. I've driven past it umpteen times en'route to my partners folk who live just down the road from Puzzwood. She says "If you're interested in exploring unusual places & enjoy photography it's great. It's a bit of a maze." I haven't been, yet, but have wanted to go. cheers, steve
  10. I thought so but how waterproof is 3000mm in the real world? cheers, steve
  11. What does "waterproof to 3000mm" mean? cheers, steve
  12. Blimey you are a handy Harry! I need to get a tattoo of that! Superb, thanks muchly. cheers, steve
  13. That's really helpful thankyou BigJ Pretty sure I could tug things around up to about 1ton without too much damage, so according to that I may get away with Alaskan quartering a 32" oak at 6m length. Most sections will be at 3.4m length.... so I might get away with just Alaskan milling those in half. Some of the oak diameters are about 36".... some are quite a smaller. Is there a chart, or book with the weight conversions? cheers, steve
  14. How much would a 32" dia green oak weigh, per metre, roughly? I'm looking to get them out of the woods into a pile ready for a day or two of mobile milling.... I'm not sure how much I'm gonna have to do with the Alaskan? Is there an online weight calculator for UK species? Cheers, Steve
  15. Good point Unfortunately, without some serious heavy duty lifting/ winching equipment a 6m length of 32" diameter (or wider) lump of oak ain't coming out of our woods. Will be easier and less destructive to habitat if it's cut into more manageable sections (with an Alaskan). Cheers, steve
  16. Thinking of getting a 6m ladder too.... where can one be found cheapest? cheers, steve
  17. Bah! Hope the police catch up with them and pop them straight into Dartmoor prison.... or even better; drop them in the middle of the moor during a whole week of fog! Do you have any idea of time? Night or day? I guess not.... Cheers, steve
  18. Ditto to that on my 550xpg cheers, steve
  19. Yes. I'm a doctor, not a real doctor, but I've got all the right tools! cheers, steve
  20. cheers, steve
  21. Good jacket. Only downside is that the armpit side vent zips are rubbish.... all the other zips on the jacket have been fine (actually very good) but for some reason they've fitted piddly little zips for the side vents and frankly, they are crap! (both sides). Anybody else had the same problem? cheers, steve
  22. Thanks Mathew. That's going some... the track guides on mine have worn pretty thin so I'm gonna replace those. The sprockets look healthy though so that should save a few £'s. cheers, steve
  23. Regurgitating this thread.... Apparently the Camoplast tracks are pretty good. Anyone tried these? Tuff-Trac https://www.southernplantspares.com/search?type=product&q=tracks Also, is it essential or just good practice to replace drive sprockets at the same time as fitting new tracks?.... do people bother doing that? cheers, Steve
  24. If you want to burn about an 1/8th of the amount of wood (for the same amount of heat you're currently getting) you'd do well to look at installing a batch box rocket mass heater. Much less pollution too. cheers, steve
  25. It's not called 'the naughty step' anymore, it's called 'time out'. It's fairly well proven that if you call a child 'naughty' they will come to accept that is what/who they are.... Time out is one minute for each year. In this case that would be a total of 13 and 3/4 minutes (assuming they don't move from the time out spot). cheers, steve
