  1. Well there you have it..... rumbling is due to not eating enough turkey. Fill up on more turkey; problem solved. cheers, Steve
  2. I'd love to get one of those husky battery saws. Have the battery prices come down yet? cheers, steve
  3. Well I gotta practice me pole dancing somewhere eh! cheers, Steve
  4. I got quite fond of mine - it took on a musty vintage glaze. Oh well, nothing can last forever and now it's gone to the Great Guide Bar In The Sky. This was my first guide bar. What do I do with it now? I just can't bring myself to dumping it. Any ideas for re-purposing? Upcycling?.... cheers, steve
  5. Haha! Just for the record I did grease the nose sprocket fairly regularly... probably about ten times in total. cheers, steve
  6. Hey I'm not complaining mate! Far from it, it's done a huge amount of work and for all the complaints that husky bars are made of cheese it's more than paid for itself. Yeah it's just over two years old. I already had a Sugi pro lite (18") waiting in the wings, which I got via MrRob @ Chainsawbars.co.uk First impressions are that the 18" runs great so I may not bother getting a smaller bar for it. cheers, steve
  7. I did run a couple of Piranha (aka Rotatech) chains a whole ago and they didn't do the bar any favours, the bar took on that overheated metal look in a few places..... was running Oregon/ Husky chain before that without any issues. I've put on an 18" sugi resin bar now. cheers, Steve
  8. My 15" Husky bar (running on a 550xpg) has been playing up lately. The nose sprocket got hot and seized up a couple times. It finally gave up properly yesterday with quite a few sparks. No complaints as its done alot of work. I was surprised that the chain didn't snap.... just needs a re-sharpen. cheers, steve
  9. Freeview is wonderful because it's free.... err, not free.... the amount of TV advertising is doing my nut in & I couldn't bring myself to lining Murdochs pocket. We're pondering only having TV at weekends. Xmas TV has been particularly crud this year. BBC News is a massive UKGov brainwash program. Should get the guitar out and piss the neighbours off so they can turn their TV's up, so I can turn the AC30 up, so they can turn their TV UP.... but my AC30 GOES ALL THE WAY UP TO 11 (+TOP BOOST +BIG MUFF). I win!! cheers, steve
  10. Yeah it has certainly been a pretty glum year. The forecast doesn't look great for habitat & wildlife either..... in fact it looks very bleak & depressing. Bah cheers, steve
  11. Merry Zetor and a happy Nuffield to you too Mr Girdle. Liked the video, not mundane at a... zzzzzzzzzz cheers, steve
  12. I've just bought a couple of f clamps and the one with a 70mm throat is really strong so I think that will work for doing the first cut. However, that won't work for doing the vertical cut with the mini mill ....due to there not being enough clearance between the side of the f clamp and the chain. cheers, steve
  13. Hey Alec, would be great to see photos of how yours works. Part of my plan is to extend the length of the guide beam just like you have said.... This is from the RipSaw website: Connecting at the end seems more complicated. Cheers, Steve Thanks for the link and ideas.... not quite got my head around how that would work for vertical cuts. Or are you thinking of using that to move the whole beam up and down, instead of having to adjust the height of the alaskan? cheers, steve
  14. Hadn't thought of using countersunk screws so that's a possibility. I went for a heavyweight profile on my box section so I doubt it would be deformed by anything... it's quite weighty, strong, but still light enough to carry. I'll try to find a couple of suitable sized f clamps and see how that goes. cheers, steve
  15. I'm thinking more along the lines of an f clamp like this (I would modify it slightly by drilling a couple holes into the rail so I could screw it into the end of the log): But I'm not sure about having enough side clearance for using with the vertical mini mill?? cheers, steve
  16. I've got a 2.5m length of aluminium box section that measures 6" width x 2" height x 2.5m length. I've attached the vertical mini mill guide rails on one edge. The thing I'm trying to work out is how to attach the beam to the log I'm milling. Does anyone use an f clamp with their guide rails and screw that into the end of the log? (instead of screwing down through the beam/ or ladder rungs). cheers, steve
  17. Cor you dont 'alf pick 'em dont ya!! Looks like bit of a mare so top points for that. (minus two points for the hell of it = 8 points). cheers, steve
  18. Top notch job that. In particular, I like the curvy bits. cheers, steve
  19. More along the lines of a 12v cider cooler, 12v ale warmer, side cupboard to store the monocle and one of those bubbly water foot massagers on the footwell (powered by 12v's of course). cheers, steve
  20. Fair enough to power the barrow but all those attachments are crud. I've been planning to pimp my late grans (bless) mobility scooter for a few years now. cheers, Steve
  21. Okay, you've sold me the stone. Can the lithium battery be recharged off a vehicle 12v outlet? Cheers, Steve
  22. Hornbeam? cheers, steve
  23. Yeah, is a bit daft really. We've housed all of ours in chicken tractors (fully enclosed coop with a mesh tunnel run) so we can still move them onto fresh grass..... it's as close to free range as we can get without letting them roam free. Now there is a confirmed case we'll be putting a sheet of clear polytunnel plastic over the runs.... to get over the wild bird poo issue. cheers, steve
  24. UPDATE: Bird flu confirmed at Turkey Farm in Lincolnshire.... https://www.farminguk.com/News/Suspected-bird-flu-found-on-turkey-farm-in-Lincolnshire_45126.html cheers, steve
  25. Okay.... another question.... Do you find the diamond stones more efficient at sharpening?.... presumably resulting in less power consumption? I'm not enjoying the thought of lugging a gurt car battery around and then having to lug it back home to recharge the thing. It's one of my pet hates... recharging car batteries. cheers, steve
