  1. Lol! I think she learnt a bit of lesson there. Best to be honest and say "I don't have all the info in front of me" rather than trying to blag it. Made a proper hash of that one! cheers, Steve
  2. Not sure, but quite possibly a bit of both.... its a vote winning stance, for sure.... and if you ask around there aren't many people within the EU that say they are entirely happy with the way things are, he probably feels the way most remainers feel.... ie, not entirely happy. cheers, steve
  3. Tony Bush, nooooo, not again!!.... should be fully retired at home ,behind armed security, sharpening his horns. cheers, steve
  4. "EU must reform or face Frexit" said Macron. I didn't personally vote for us to leave the EU but do understand why a large percentage of people voted out, part of me feels the same way.... Macron has hit the nail on the head here. Had the EU reformed years ago things could have turned out very different & we probably wouldn't have had the in/out vote. Without EU reform the UK would have always been destined to leave at some point. Unfortunately the UK will probably be paying a higher price than if we were to leave at a later date, say in another 10 years. Ho-hum, it is what it is. Emmanuel Macron says EU must reform or face Frexit - BBC News cheers, steve
  5. Sounds like a bargain on your half. cheers, steve
  6. That's bonkers and no way am I buying a Ford! cheers, steve
  7. Any arbtalkers been robbed via a skeleton key? I thought they were only available to fully trained locksmiths, not any Tom dick n Harry. 'Epidemic' of van tool thefts blamed on skeleton key - BBC Newsbeat cheers, Steve
  8. Far as I can gather, the Hookway retort works on a similar principle to a rocket stove. If you search Rocket Stove on YouTube it'll come up with lots of examples. Also worth looking up Rocket Mass Heaters. For both of the above getting the correct dimensions can make a huge difference to the efficiency of the burn. cheers, steve
  9. There's a handy bit of basic info on Wikipedia here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chainsaw_safety_clothing Looking at the Husky 550xp specs it says at 133% of the maximum engine speed the chain is travelling at 26.1m/s http://www.husqvarna.com/uk/products/chainsaws/550-xp/966648115/ Presumably that is when it's held on full throttle but not cutting anything. cheers, Steve
  10. Good question. I've been wondering if upgrading sprockets to increase chain speed is a wise move, in terms of doing that and wearing standard PPE protection. cheers, Steve
  11. Cedar seems to be in short supply here in Pembs. I'd be interested in any little off cuts.... about 400mm length by about 250mm width by 25mm thickness. cheers, Steve
  12. I loves it. cheers, steve
  13. MPH in Haverfordwest should have a couple; MPH Hire - Power Tools, Hand Tools, Cordless | Bosch, Makita, Dewalt, Hitachi, Draper, Stihl cheers, steve
  14. Don't worry.... I'm also on a learning curve with all this stuff. cheers, steve
  15. Great to hear you are getting temperatures more under control. Are you finding that you can use less wood for the firebox now? Maybe you won't have any sagging issues if you can keep the temperature at or below 500deg c?.... or maybe use some thicker more heat resistant material for the stainless angle, although 600deg C is probably much too hot if it's gonna stand up to the heat over time. cheers, steve
  16. We gonna be even more skint after Brexit! cheers, steve
  17. Every single school to have one day per week of Outdoor Education.... ie, forest school type activities. Considering the state of the environment, loss of wildlife and lack of action it's probably our best hope. cheers, steve p.s.... I also think it might be nice if some of the big money making corporations sponsored food banks instead of just self-serving themselves.
  18. I wouldn't say that May is very good at debating at all, she just avoids answering the questions, same as so many other non-answer MP's. It's very irritating to watch. I think ITV have already mentioned having an empty chair.... maybe they should pop a £1000 handbag on it. Cheers, steve
  19. Great stuff In the Village Idiot thread I think it mentions keeping things at 500deg C.... and not beyond 550deg C but you might want to have a double check on that. Got fingers crossed for ya.... cheers, steve
  20. Two wongs don't make a wite (said Jonathon Woss). I know it's environmentally naughty but I do love the smell of coke and steam. Nostalgic memories of growing up with the Great Dorset Steam Fair, I guess? cheers, steve
  21. um, errr.... well, errr, um.... not alotta choice is there! Hopefully the manufacturers are reading this. Maybe dirty diesel arb trucks don't count in this particular scrappage scheme? I reckon they'll be putting up the price of diesel soon enough as well. Extra incentive to change. cheers, Steve
  22. We need a roller skate scheme too.... cheers, steve
  23. That's the spirit dude I'm off to bang a gong, jingle Nepalese bells and hang out some Khrishna bunting.... back in a mo. cheers, steve If you do short trips isn't it cheaper to run a petrol equivalent? I think that's what I heard someone mention. cheers, Steve
  24. I believe it's aimed at reducing localised pollution, ie exhaust emissions.... and that's a wise move, I think. But yes I agree that it doesn't nescesarily do anything to improve global pollution & natural resource depletion. However, I do disagree about your most environmentally friendly stance.... driving cars is never going to save the planet, because it's not the planet that needs saving.... it's mankind, destroying itself/ alongside alotta animals, etc. The most environmentally friendly thing a motorist can do is give up motoring and start pedalling a bamboo pushbike towing a hemp trailer. + stop breeding. cheers, steve
  25. Considering we have access to vast amounts of wood I think it lends itself towards a gasifier arb truck. I'd happily convert to that. cheers, steve
