  2. Get paid £thousands by scrapping that dirty old diesel arb truck, especially if you live in or near a city: Drivers could be paid 'up to £2,000 to scrap diesels' - BBC News This doesn't affect us because we live in Pembrokeshire/ West Wales where the Atlantic and Irish Sea air, is pure, and the sheep have sore knees (but that's a different subject). cheers, steve

  6. What's the difference between GL-4 and GL-5? ....I've just put GL-5 in the travel reduction gear on a mini digger but the manual specifies GL-4. Should I change it again? (80/90w) Tried searching on the internet but the advice is very varied and not sure what to believe?? cheers, steve
  7. Done a second cut yesterday and will probably cut it again in another couple of days (at a lower setting). cheers, steve
  8. I'm not jealous one bit. Okay I'm TOTALLY JEALOUS! Where is the temperature probe/sensor fitted and are you able to control the temperature, via an air inlet or something else? Also wondering what happens when it's cooked enough.... do you close/ seal the firebox door and also the chimney flue to stop the charcoal igniting and turning to ash? (ie, shutting off all entry of air). Superb looking bit of kit. I want one! Can't afford one. cheers, steve The metal one above does have firebricks... see them in the firebox?.... I've thought about doing a brick kiln but haven't found any decent plans. One downside is it would be totally fixed, no chance of it being craned elsewhere. cheers, steve Sorry to hear yours has buckled.... but on a positive note it does mean your retort is getting more efficient. Maybe look into ways of controlling the maximum temperature?.... less than 500deg Celsius I guess. Would be good to see photos of what's occurred, if possible? cheers, Steve
  9. English "just going out to smoke a fag" vs American "just going out to smoke a fag".... Both have quite different meanings. I think the rantings that commenced in this thread are from a similar basis. Worth remembering that Arbtalk covers many regions and regional variations. cheers, steve

  19. Be careful.... they may be double bluffing. cheers, steve
  20. That's my thinking too. Best to keep a look out for an old one, local as possible, with collapsed bearings. May be possible to pick one up for £100 to £200 Due to weight I think it would be leaning towards being a fixed position retort, possibly. cheers, steve
  21. What a great idea. Hadn't even crossed my mind. Looks like it would last a lifetime too... cheers, Steve
  22. They're also working on an i shaped version. cheers, steve
