  1. love the LDV rear lights!
  2. its a honey comb grid- theoretically brilliant.... and it dosnt work:laugh1:
  3. looks like you need one of these!
  4. I paid £1800 for the mill, 18 bands (three are rusty) sawdust blast 110kva diesel generator 180hp with less than 2000 hours on the clock all wiring and starter/control boxes spare motors Down sides around 90 miles away on the side of a hill (took 5 hours in the tractor each way), the estate wanted the buildings left in a usable state, had to cut the generator out, there was no lorry access, its only 16ft cut, took two folk two very long days so i reckon if you could get it for a tad above scrap value delivered its a good deal. an average stenner prob weighs 4 tons or more with log decks so the scrappy will want £240 per ton plus the motor value, so around £1000 delivered on the basis it requires work would be fair? my thoughts only:001_rolleyes: let us know how you get on anyways, you could get it for less
  5. well almost 15 tons on a good day
  6. Hi all, where is the best place to get a gasket for an A55 Holder? there was oil leaking from the rear of the engine so i guess the seal between the clutch/engine is shot, has anyone had this problem and is it difficult to fix?
  7. hi Marcus, im not the person to ask! mostly all of my milling experience is with yankee mills but someone said its the first inch on the cutting side of the pulley that wears causing the saws problems thats why they have to be re-machined.
  8. hi Mark, you can get all the parts from stenner but at a premium. bearings are easily got from any decent bearing shop. lookout for worn drive cogs/racks on the bench, these can get pricey
  9. what model(s) were they? i heard the early ones were good but after that they were well designed but poorly put together, are the newer ones any better?
  10. Gairloch estate in the west coast they fully reconditioned it and never used it. The mog looks like a non runner but i will ask tomorrow
  11. i have bought another sawmill but it appears to be made up from the spares bin! The bench is stenner and the mill was advertised as a 48, however the saw is made by Guilliet & Fils of France that takes a 6inch band and its over twice the build quality of our other stenner 48... i cant find any info anywhere, is it a one off?
  12. 6 years!!? thats a record. I rent from BOC and some times their large bottles dont last the week:001_huh:
  13. thats just along the road from me, theres all sorts of strange stuff round here!
  14. usually machinery has to be within ten years old when your payments finish so that it can be and sold easily by the lender if it was to be repossessed. however i managed to get a 25 year old tractor through the bank, when i hit the 'must be under ten years' nonsense i told them it would appreciate in value. Got the tractor!
  15. you can use a farm tractor for light forestry without any problems. it is down to the skill of the driver and a good set of crossplys.
  16. I have multiple vehicle/building/asset polices with nfu and they are very good but when it came to our delivery trucks they didnt want to know and didnt even bother quoting?
  17. is that big hole in the ground for the bottom pulley of your stenner? lol
  18. made one last year but took ages to build. its basically a hydraulic ram pressing 15inch blocks through a fancy grid. its prob easier to make them on a log splitter
  19. will you have any larger firewood machinery at the royal highland? thanks Graham
  20. i found Norway spruce strong under load but quite brittle .
  21. A few wagons
  22. whats the depth of the tenons?
  23. i still havent finished my shed that was started back in December
  24. erm? well...
