  1. yes but a good gun. you cant really beat an air nailer only issue is thin air lines can freeze onwards of -10 deg
  2. hi everyone. I fancy building a showmans wagon but how would you make wooden wheels? i gather there is more than one type of wood used and will need metal bands to hold her together. how would you go about it?? thanks in advance
  3. i see where you are coming from, i was after a great days work
  4. thats a fair point and first sorry to have caused folks upset. as firewood is one of my main jobs i bought wood from a land owner and felled the trees as everyone else dose. when i was finished the land owner asked if i would look at the 3 elm in her garden, i did and felled them professionally so she was delighted and asked how much i would like? having paid for her other trees i said i would do it for the wood. the elm were dead for a few years so virtually all seasoned and ready to sell. the branches were cut in to nets and the smaller stuff was cut as kindling into nets (people love hardwood kindling) so i left the site with two and a half loads of firewood (2.2m3 per load so 5.5m3 and about 15 large nets i sold for £6 each) you do the math 5.5 x £70m3 + £6 x 15 = £475
  5. i dont rely on tree surgery for day to day wages and dont really understand how mind blowing quotes are accepted. at my last domestic job i removed 3 elm from a garden where a previous outfit quoted £800 quite a nasty job with phone lines, buildings, walls, public roads, sentimental shrubs all under the trees that were leaning badly in the wrong direction. i had them down and removed for free with the firewood value easily covering 2 folks wages and expenses. i loved it:thumbup:
  6. i had the same problems. have to have the blades the correct distance apart to let the logs open as they split. i almost put mine to thainstone auction just about had enough!
  7. when are you planning to build?
  8. i will be heading down south this summer, could i have a look?
  9. the engine in the 1620ss labours a bit much? works well though, can we have a demo of a 2040xp2:001_tongue:
  10. timberjack vs county
  11. as title, heavy duty gearbox, atlas crane/grab, flotation tires, reconditioned engine and the cab has seen better days. what is it worth?
  12. how much?
  13. how do they handle loaders?
  14. i do like your splitters, homemade is definitely the best! i too have a lump of 2foot spruce jammed in the knifes, just not enough power to push
  15. i didnt know there was a 50k version that would be ideal could be tough to find one our mower chewed up a BBQ the local kids built from breeze blocks in the middle of the silage field, i didnt see it. very handy to know it can work a triple set
  16. hi, I could do with a larger tractor for road work, moving timber and skidders/countys etc and Quite fancy a John Deere 7710 with the idea its big enough not to break and plenty of torque from a bigger 8 liter engine. i use older fords that are painfully slow and heavy to use on long shifts. have used 2650 and 6600 deeres and loved them instantly but never been there to see them have problems has anyone had problems with a bigger 10 series or what other tractors are up to the challenge?
  17. would that be farm and forestry? they will know their equipment but i was not impressed by Tajfun and found them under engineered.
  18. there was one in Huntly, Scotland a few years ago, road towable and worked from an operators seat in excellent order. Sold for 14k
  19. bet that comes with a tasty price
  20. just had a look (in terms of cordless drills) at the competition hitachi's flag ship has torque of 92NM and 75min charge on 5ah batts. milwaukee has 82NM couldnt find a charge time and 4ah batts makita has 80NM, 22 min charge on 3ah (usually add 10mins for every +1ah charge time, so prob 30-35min) dewalt has 80NM, 60min charge time , 4ah batts metabo has 100NM, 35min charge, 5.2ah batts bosch, well the older metabo wiped the floor with the bosch so you are probably paying for fancy advertising. i run metabo anyone fancy a duel?
  21. yes it will, all day long.
  22. I will find time to cut it open and do a few mods. the hydraulic ram is 49 tons and not big enough, but was really impressive for 20 seconds before it jammed
  23. love the LDV rear lights!
