  4. Hi. Has anyone got a phone number for Dundonnell sawmill near ullapool? I have heard they are closing down and would like to see what equipment is left if any. The numbers online and the website are down so if i could contact the owner that would be great. Thanks Graham

  7. the trio night searcher is a good buy at £30 ish. a good all rounder, got one in each vehicle
  8. slowly getting there! going to lower the bench by around six inch and extend the table by 10ft then build in log turners so one person can handle large logs and most importantly cut 26'. it was starting to look like my fathers stenner, sitting under a tarp in the rain never to work again so about a month ago i decided its going together, start digging! lol

Hi guys, are industrial roller doors tough enough to keep out thieves or idle youths? there is no obvious hinges or exterior locks to cut, i accept that you will never stop them all but we have to try they wouldnt normally be my first choice in terms of security but the doors are for the log hauls on a sawmill where normal folding doors are impractical. also if the standard locks are pants i should be able to beef them up thoughts and other options welcome! thanks
  10. it helps if i actually read the OP and not the title of the thread:lol: £60 would be for use of splitter plus fuel, travel and labour of about £15 per hour so £200+ ish

  13. first truck is the ldv and probably the cheapest and toughest truck you can buy, has the Peugeot engine and bomb proof gearbox, top speed 45mph down a hill. got it with 21k second is an iveco 35c12 bought this at auction for £1600 with only 60k on the clock, again virtually new truck and has breezed through two mots. the best place to get truck is at a council auction because there is 40-50 trucks that make around £300 - £2500.
  14. when i was 19 my ldv was 500 with the post office that wasnt too long ago when insurance on the equivalent little car was around the 3k mark
  15. done this with dry hardwood around inch to inch and half. once its in a net people will buy it.
  16. it would be cruel to pull a lowloader with that tractor. i would look at a 6610 for medium /heavy road work
  17. i spent £450 on my first truck an ldv. it only needed a bit of tlc a king pin, an exhaust and brakes when required. it served me for 4 years and i sold it for £700. it has then passed two mots with no major issues and still on the road today. i will have to make the owner an offer when my fancy newer truck dies. ldv are so cheap and easy to fix i keep a second ldv in the yard as a back up i would probably never buy new because im from scotland

  20. thats a fair point, problem was sourcing the engine, hydraulics and spools that were all in serviceable condition and the oil tank thats not part of the chassis. some of the akerman/volvo diggers have high psi around 5000 or 350 bar, but i would hate dismantling one (i would give it a name and put it in the garden:thumbup1:) eventually we found an air cooled deutz engine with oil coolers built into the rear of the block and sauer pumps with low low hours. unfortunately i missed the rest of the machine that had lots of goodies like matching oil tanks, air filters and diesel tanks three times the flow or even twice is a lot of oil
  21. there is a charge pump to the rear of the main pump. the tank(s) will be mounted directly above the pump i planned to make a hydraulic power pack that was portable hence the compact tank size but looks like it will be too heavy and bulky. the main use is to power a processor, but dont expect to see anything soon because its a huge build
  22. there should be loads of oil in the system theres lots of large rams, motors and a crane to power
  23. there is an oil cooler built onto the engine. The pumps are variable piston type so depending on use the flow can be adjusted accordingly
  24. Im building a hydraulic oil tank for a project but what is a healthy size for a pump thats 190 liters per min? i was thinking around 70l. thoughts and suggestions welcome
