It will run it but you may want to check out whether it all matches in respect of whether its 3/8 or .404 chain/bar/sprocket combination.

I was told the 395 is no longer available in xpg format in the UK either when I bought mine just before xmas. -
Just make sure your happy theres no air leak on the inlet manifold. Spray some carb cleaner or wd40 around the joint by the clip on the rubber inlet manifold and listen for a change in idle. Set the carb to base settings. Basically screw in both the L and H carb screws until lightly seated and then unscrew each screw 1 turn. The saw should run on that tho are usually a tad rich. You may also want to turn the tickover screw in 1/4 of a turn and once running see how she ticks over, you can always adjust up/down once the engines running.

BTW if you considering doing this before you get the partition remember you wont be able to bolt the cylinder down until the partition is fitted on do to it syncing in the rails on the saw body so to speak.

I do it as Spuds first suggestion. Due to it having the cutouts in the bottom of the cylinder you can get most of it in with your fingers compressing the rings thru the cut out and use a screwdriver to finish. Just don't force anything. If you struggle you can use a cable tie around the ring to compress them and just push the cylinder down over it. The 357 is easy tho having the cutouts in the cylinder base and only 1 ring and think you will find it much easier than you think.

Get the tesgol 357 big bore kit and just mail him to double check its the highway kit. Think the highway kits also mentions they come a the warranty. They are basically the 359 piston but with a closed port cylinder so your getting a 1mm increase in piston size yet keeping the power of the closed port cylinder.

Sorry didn't word that well. The dual transfers are ported differently timing wise compared to the 385. The nice thing is the 362/365/372/385 and 390 is they all use the same muffler hence why I always have a spare modded muffler. They all respond well to a dual port muffler and 385 enjoys the inlet charge a little earlier

Your husky dealer will order you one in no doubt. I made a replica of the husqy splitter. Unless your doing them often do you really need to fork that amount of cash out for the odd saw? Whereabouts are you?

The new ones as said aren't the same as the old ones, that said I use a newish bulldog as much as a morris I have but that's partly due to having a straight blade on the back of it and the morris being a bit sentimental as it was my grandfathers.

I have to agree regarding the design on the 385/390. Ive got 24's on the 385 and 390, 28 on the 394 and 36 on the 395. In standard form the 390 is louder than the 395 - due to the 395 restrictive exhaust and where the uk version loses power to the American model. The only difference is the exhaust and thats quoted as being 1/2hp more hence good gains on the 395 just by muffler mods. Interesting WYK, the later models of both saws on your scales are said to weigh approx. 1 ib less according to huskys figures. Not sure quite how they come to that given the only difference between the 385 and 390 is a 1mm bigger piston and dual transfer ports.

Glad you got it sorted. Slightly poor as you say but glad you've sorted and achieved it under your own abilities. Nothing worse than returning a saw to the dealer to have to fight for them to fix it and get it back weeks later.

In my eyes it would boil down to the length of bar your wanting to take up a tree.. Eddy do you find that little a difference between the 385 and 394? Both mine are ported but the 394 wins everytime in the bigger stuff despite having a 4" longer bar.

I maybe wrong but theres something about the oil drive causing this issue and it needing to be sanded down due to it being to thick and slightly binding due to poor tolerances.

What have you got to lose by trying?? I've got a tesgol hyway cylinder on the shelf and done 7-8 with scuffed cylinders but none I've ever had to replace and use it. They tend to be pretty salvageable with just a clean up and new piston and rings.

395 takes some beating. Good all rounder for the bigger stuff and more tuneable than the 3120

Just checked its the 394xp coil that's the same. 268 uses the same coil to.

Got something in my head that the 254 coil can be used to replace the 395xp coil so no doubt the opposite would work if the information is correct.

Ive got a 44/ms440 exhaust here. Measured the width between the two bolt holes - 43mm. What does the 441 measure?

Just used a 4 1/2" angle grinder with thin 1 mm cutting disc to cut the steel. Thick steel plate cuts much easier using the thin 1mm disc over the standard 3mm cutting disc, you just have to be careful as they shatter easily tho.

Looking at the ipl it looks almost a case of just taking out 3 bolts and pulling the engine out. In theory its never going to be that simple tho as we all know. Just wasn't sure if there was any sneaky bolts that go up from the gearbox side or whether its all downward bolts so to speak..

What are they like to change Barry? Ive just ordered new clutch springs for an hs75. The ipl makes it look quite a straight forward job but is it as simple as it looks is the question

I think its just down to the seasoned oak, its about 4-5 years old/seasoned (and its the base of the tree) its just hard as nails so the cutters don't cut in as they would with fresh stuff, they glide over it rather than cut in fully. Full chisel is aggressive but if its not being allowed to cut into the wood in the first place it cant remove it. Wander if anyone who mills would know if changing the file angle down to 10 or 15 degrees which makes it cut more aggressive again would make a difference when it comes hardness?
