  1. That was excellent - best way to describe a pro I've heard/read. Also, a good and valid point on the end there. Not what the tool is capable of, more how capable the user and how easily that user utilises their skill. Though there are still some saws which are more capable than others given a specific task to complete. Trick is, getting the saw which is right for the job and not going over the top. But I guess this was the OP's quest.
  2. Nice one!
  3. You could not expose one leg to the sun for a year and that way you could have a white leg too. Problem solved. But yes, an all singing all dancing saw sounds good. But how long will it run for before it goes all honey shaped? I think Stihl might have an uphill battle trying to shift 661s now. People are still asking after the reliability of H' 550XPs & 560XPs. Even though the later one seem to be sorted. As a manufacturer, if you shoot yourself in the foot. Don't be surprised to walk with a limp afterwards. Ratner admitted his company sold crap to the public and buyers went elsewhere. Both H' and S' have had similar recently. But they didn't openly admit the true nature of said models.
  4. And how does one report a post to the Mods?
  5. Overcast but fine, which is a pity, as the chippy was suppose to turn up and has not. I've been waiting around since 07:30. If he turns up tomorrow, he'll be in the way of the sparks; who put off today not to be in the way of this invisible man with a saw and hammer but no alarm clock.
  6. Safe Eyes do do a model for glasses wearers but you end up with the glasses pressed up against your face. Not good for the glasses, not good for attaining correct focal length and rather uncomfortable. But if you've got 20/20, they'd be great for milling and hedging in thorn too.
  7. Started with heavy rain turning to drizzle, then to light and back to heavy rain. Got some more lawn levelling done in morning and running wires after lunch. More wiring tomorrow and maybe next day too. Trying to get it done before chippy arrives to cedar clad the outside.
  8. Wow! You lead such an exciting life.
  9. How did I forget the MS241 C-M?
  10. Can't recommend specific models. But have used various Motorola and Sony multi-channel radios in the past. Motorola were always robust and frequently waterproof. Good reception but tended to be heavier, in part due to high-end power packs. Sony gave excellent vocal reproduction but weren't so robust.
  11. MS660, Husky 390, 395.
  12. Bit chilly but dry, good for first levelling of lawn. Tomorrow looks fine, so good for helping run wiring for outdoor lighting & sound system in new build.
  13. I like the idea that it was a special price. Like having a sale of snowmen in June.
  14. There's a recent thread: http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/1150159-post.html Have a gander through there. Husqvarna 550XP Light and great on a 15" bar 560XP Light and great on 15" & 18" bars 357XP Not so light but great all the same Stihl MS261 Good all rounder MS441 Better all rounder Echo CS-550 CS-620SX CS-680
  15. A flight of fancy and amazement.
  16. You better PM Stubby on that one. Suffice to say, Stubby still has a big saw.
  17. Mine's still in place and never had a problem with it. But also, one woodland the saw gets used in, the owner specifies all saws must have spark arresters fitting. Even on cold soaking wet days. I suppose it's easier to make one rule fits all occasions, than mess around with, if A fits BC, then it's ok to Z with a purple nose in the great abyss of geranium wellies.
  18. From all that I've read, the 2013 and 2014 ones are ok.
  19. Slightly showery but mild. Got wetter pressure washing and relocating 60+ concrete slabs. Not time to ready myself for the party.
  20. You could, (if you haven't already) try Meindl Waldorfer/Woodwalkers. They're not as heavy as some and are a slim fit.
  21. Could you arrange something similar...
  22. Depends what your need is and the 241 is quite a bit more than the 211.
  23. Same as before.
  24. You can tell when a window cleaner calls. They'll knock the door before cleaning. (No point cleaning if the owner's not around to pay you.)
  25. I constructed the PM after posting my reply. So you should have it now. With regard to the hedging courses run by the 'Long Forest Project' and through 'Keep Wales Tidy'. All necessary tools and PPE, (though not footwear or waterproofs) will be provided on the day/s. You can also get advice on appropriate tools for various tasks. Take a packed lunch and drink for each training day.
