  1. Sunny day before yesterday, rained for funeral yesterday and now partly clouded with sunny periods. Warm in sun and a bit chilly with cloud cover.
  2. SteveA & WeFixIt - ditto. Plus it gives no chance for small resident wildlife to escape. Though quite where they'd go to, with this contraption making a desert out of the landscape...
  3. Drizzle answerphone sunny spells, sometimes at the same time. Not cold though.
  4. Sometimes feels like 'Minnie the Moocher' by Cab Calloway.
  5. Loads of bees and other bugs in the garden this year. But to date, I've seen maybe half a doz. butterfly and maybe a few doz. small moths.
  6. Beautiful views from the Scar. Can be a tad windy at times. Only once been up Kentmere when it wasn't wet; guess that's one of the reasons they decided to build the reservoir. As to popping into Wilfs - one of their brownies will have piled on the calories. But they are, just too temping to resist. You'll enjoy Whinlatter, unless you decide to do the pass too... it's a killer!
  7. I like him. Though it's safe to say, that it's just as well he's on a sturdy perch.
  8. Agree with above. He said it leaks and I don't think he meant it leaks smoke, more that it leaks water into the fabric of the building. Speaking as one who has had to repair roofs, ceilings and joists damaged by water ingress in a number of properties. Also done work on chimneys in the past, I can wholeheartedly say, they're a pain in the neck! If your property can be run with just the internal section intact and do away with the external section, do it. No more worries about state of pointing, nesting birds, roosting bats, water ingress when some scrote nicks the lead flashing or down draughts on windy days when the fire's not lit. And you may get a reduction on your property insurance too.
  9. Don't suppose having the camera attached atop the plane did much for aerodynamics.
  10. My condolences for the loss of your friend. Read about the incident on the news. It amazed me, that someone, anyone would perpetrate such a dastardly crime. I don't know, but suspect the murderer had other nefarious reason for carrying a knife. And that he didn't dare risk an encounter with the police. I hope they catch the b... soon and send him down for life.
  11. Second day without rain... must be the start of a draught.
  12. Now sunny but started off with rain. Yesterday, as with the preceding five days, it either rained or drizzled throughout the 24hrs.
  13. Cheesy beans are great but on toast even better. Not the HP branded beans, (just don't like the taste) or Tesco's budget bean, (too much water, not enough beans).
  14. Have you got their contact details. For next time I want a tree felled with real entertainment value.
  15. Must very fat. The 8 is nowhere near the 4.

Take the dog out of the cab and it'll be fine.
  17. Better than being a tree loper.
  18. Hawthorn has a place but in a coppice, it's a sod, so you start by removing those. Leave the ones on boundary. Good for keeping people out and the bees like it.
  19. Not the first person to launch themself with a bunch of balloons and a garden/deck. And thankfully for those that like or even need a little homegrown madness, he won't be the last.
  20. What chain (exactly) are you using at the present time?

I thought the bouncing bowser was fun,
  22. Forecast for drizzle and they've got it just about right.
  23. Yeah. Bad news about your father. But the end but made me chuckle.
