  1. And the resale value is high on them.
  2. As with many places in the UK, while the weather is brightening, the fells & moorland are still draining. Coupled with all the local rivers either in spate or else broken banked, there'll still be many days of flooding in place. Then there'll be some places, where habitated land is below that of the nearest watercourse, (perhaps separated by years of building and road construction.. This will require pumping to release water back into the rivers & channels.
  3. Even if there were. How would you get there, by boat?
  4. Glad I'm not up north at the mo'! Great for paddling but useless for everyday needs. Brother rang yesterday, said he was looking at a tarn, where there should be fields. I doubt even the herdwick enjoy this weather. Yesterday was slimy under foot but dry. The wind wasn't so bad, around 18mph, gusting mid to high 40s. Had to watch the tops as much as the bottoms. Got some windblow on the deck plus a little thinning done.
  5. £2 - that's a real bargain! Forgot to mention I've had mine for 10+ years, it's proven to be an excellent torch and is regularly worn in rainy conditions with no ill effect. Perfect for climbing & paddling trips, as well as everyday use.
  6. Got a number of head torches but my favourite is Petzl's Ziipka http://www.headtorches365.co.uk/petzl-m2?gclid=COOsx6L9xskCFUKc2wodrFMPhA Only weighs 38g plus 3x AAA batteries. Batteries last approx. one year. This with an avg. use of 10mins. per 48hrs. Normally use rechargeable batteries, with a backup of the non-rechargeables if I'm heading onto the fells. Easily stows into a small space, (including pockets); self adjusting headband/cord, so can be worn under or over a hood or a helmet or around the wrist.
  7. Yesterday mild and dry. Today started dry with chill wind but it turn wet after lunch.
  8. If you get to the point where it's still in place but still needs to be taken. Just get it roadside outside the property and the timber fairies will have it away in the second night.
  9. You can take vehicle makers' mpg or kpl claims with a pinch of salt. Have a look at Which? and the like for real-world test figures. I'd say you'd be lucky to get between 1/2 to 2/3 of what is claimed. And that's with no load, other than the driver plus monitoring computer in the car/pickup/van.
  10. Can you get those with a picture of chainsaw operator and the words, 'I love zombies'?
  11. Anyone tried laying a dummy on the floor in sight of the cordon, with a sizeable branch over the chest or legs?
  12. Nice one and clever too.
  13. This isn't aimed at arb related retailers. Where there are some really good deals to be had if you look. No, this is aimed at the mainstream retailers and the likes of Amz. Before the 'Black Friday' supposed deals came into being, there were some decent discounts to be had. Now it's £10 or £20 knocked of a rrp of £300-£400. If that makes for great bargains, then durian is my favourite fruit. Is it any wonder that people are reluctant to buy at this time of year; when there's more hype but less % off the goods? I hate durian in all its forms!
  14. Some people would think little of nearly killing someone else. But would scream bloody murder if their car got scratched. You can plan for just about anything. Other than the idiot (or thief) that will happen by as soon as you start work.
  15. Bet he bricked it.
  16. What he said... and don't buy from them again. As to reputable places to buy chains, try one of these: http://www.chainsawbars.co.uk https://www.chainsdirect.co.uk http://www.frjonesandson.co.uk There are others. Or go to you local dealer.
  17. T-shirt day with light drizzly showers.
  18. Will the game of 'Conkers' be outlawed in future? After all, the game's aim, is the destruction of a potential tree/s. Could the average Joe/Jo be prosecuted for eating walnuts or brazil nuts? I suppose councils and land owners could be forced to leave fallen leaves where they lay, just incase they disturb viable seeds.
  19. Still in the middle and a bit to the left.
  20. Might be worth having a look at the air filter too.
  21. Bit wet but temp. up to nearly 10°c. Yesterday morning was around 6-9°C. Morning before that was hovering around 2°C.
  22. ... and it's white.
  23. That's got more cutters than Dr. Teeth on the left there.
  24. In the breeze - somewhat chilly. Out of the breeze - quite mild. In the rain - a little damp.
  25. I presume you're using the correct size round file for your given chain...
