  1. "... thin on the ground." Suggests result of impact from great height. What happened to your last brash monkey?
  2. As pictures of tractors go, that's almost cute. Ok, I've grabbed my coat and am leaving.
  3. I don't like football but that actually looks fun.
  4. Filling the gap, climbing to the fuzzy bit and grinding... sounds like a busy life.
  5. Steel is faster to manufacture in bulk and on the whole cheaper to buy finished stove. A number of the more efficient / cleaner burning stoves are only available in steel, (depending on stove make). But steel can warp, seals can become defective. Good quality cast stoves are more expensive to manufacture. Tend to have a 'traditional' appearance but can, (depending on maker & model) be very efficient burners. Cast stoves don't warp and the likes of Morso, etc., the spare parts can be obtained 40 odd years down the line. Unless you have access to free fuel, buy the most efficient stove you can afford. Because the stove and installation might cost a grand or more; but over the stove's operational lifetime, the fuel will cost a great deal more. So the more particulate matter & gases which are finally burnt and converted into useable heat, the cheaper the stove will be to run and the better for the environment it will be. Don't burn well coal - producing steam is a waste of money. And won't do a steel stove any favours. Unless you're on the 4:10 from Paddington Heritage Trip. Do season wood - is easier to ignite, easier to keep lit and cheaper to use. Plus it's not slimy to handle.
  6. Was suppose to brighten up but tis as wet now as yesterday afternoon; mild though.
  7. Damn! Sorry to hear that.
  8. Oregon by choice.
  9. Wet on ground but dry in air.
  10. He's going to be doing his own servicing and maintenance, as he does on his other machines. If dealer servicing is the only reason for buying local and he's not going to use them for that, he might as well save the £50. If you're buying new online, then Stihl is out, due to their particular sales policy. Basically, anything with a moving cutter can only be handed over in person, (even if you've paid online/over the phone).

    ram raid

I presume they also drove with defective lights after the ram.
  12. Now that would be telling. The atmosphere or the dog or both?
  13. Mild today and only poured for an hour, maybe less. That just damped down the ground, as it's been dry for a couple of weeks. Still damp on ground, with cloud bases at around 1700ft.
  14. Good news - it rained. Bad news - it rained just enough to fill an extremely small & shallow thimble.
  15. Nice one.
  16. Damn bad news that.
  17. Well said that fellow! Great Autumn border there.
  18. I did vote but I didn't make the bed with blue sheets. So I can moan with feeling.
  19. I don't remember stuffing pillow cases and I sure as hell didn't tuck them in. I wonder what the result would have been, if more than 66% had bothered to vote.
  20. Aspen for me. Besides, the three nearest Stihl dealers have no interest in stocking 'Motomix', and one didn't even know what it was. So much for specialist dealer knowledge.
  21. Not saws I know but if you've got a Mercedes Sprinter, it'll be worth keeping an extra eye on it in the short while at least. In a recent 9 day period, there's be a spate 24 thefts of exhausts and or cats from Sprinter vans in the S.Wales area. For more info: http://www.owl.co.uk/a/?i=e5bdf217dd6c40eabd51c4fd9d5835bf
  22. If you pay someone to fit it, it's going to easily cost as much as a stove. Buy the flue, (double wall will protect again condensation & cold spots) and fit it yourself. If you chimney is in good nick, you could do without the liner. But the naked chimney will invariably create too much draw, leading to increased fuel consumption. In the long run, go for fuel efficiency and hence lower bills. You'll still need the installation checked and ticked off by a Hetas approved person. But self installation with independent certification, will still work out cheaper than paying a pro to do everything. The flu & gubbins aren't going to be cheaper but at least you can save on labour.
  23. Poured night before last, poured yesterday, poured last night, poured this morning. Note to self. Must drink less tea.
  24. Sorry. That should have been, "Gee wiz! One can only guess how much they'd have been, if they were 'indirect' suppliers."
  25. Gee wiz! One can only guess how's he they'd been, if they were 'indirect' suppliers.
