  1. From what I was told when doing my ticket you'll get more out of the cs41 once you've got a bit of climbing experience. Tucky
  2. Bear in mind there is a special level of anger and a complete accompanying vocabulary for top handles which don't start and run right when your in an uncomfortable cutting position mid job...... Tucky
  3. Hi Paul I'm afraid I can't answer your questions but I wanted to wish you well with your recovery.keep positive mate. Tucky
  4. I like the Yale fire rope as its much more visable than the green and white version I had before. As for harnesses I found the butterfly cut me in half and left bruises no matter how I adjusted it, tried a mates treemotion and had to buy one, expensive yes but worth it as I climb so much free'er and don't hurt afterwards. Tucky
  5. Not to mention the fact it's hard enough to give conifer away ready cut Tucky
  6. Hey guys I've got a set of goretex golf waterproofs, the jacket is cut short enough to make it just about bare able with a harness and they allow pretty good movement. Wouldn't like to test it's thorn proof qualities tho. Cheers Tucky
  7. If ever a thread managed to show the best and the worst of arbtalk I think this is it. Tucky
  8. Hi John It was an 8kw multifuel boiler stove, had it running 5 rads and it still used to take the best part of a day to get the system nicely hot on just wood ( seasoned logs checked with a meter), only thing it would work really well was pallets or coal, my hunch is they make better coal stoves than pure wood stoves. We had to put an extra flue damper in just to stop most of the heat going up the chimney and give the boiler a chance to get hot. And finally I'd have had more chance of a night with Kylie than of keeping that thing lit all night. I have no axe to grind here just saying it how I found it. Tucky
  9. I'm a Charnwood fan, on my second now (house move not worn out) and I can't fault it. The one I'd avoid like the plague is dunsley had one of their boiler stoves and it was shocking. Cheers Tucky
  10. What did you do treequip? Mostly it's a total lack of throttle response and a generally gutless feel. Obviously hard 'tinkering' is a last resort Tucky
  11. I did try search stubby but my iPhone doesn't like the search function( keeps losing the keypad) thanks tho it's good to know I'm on the right track, treequip as stubby correctly guessed if it was my money it would have gone elsewhere, I'm gonna square any mods with my line manager first but tbh it's shockingly useless as it is ( had a 200t before until some scum relieved us of it) Tucky
  12. Hey guys Due to the company I work for employing the 'Peter principle ' of management, dispite my repeated requests for another brand my shiny new climbing saw is the (in) famous ms201. So since I'm stuck with this marvel of modern engineering I've been looking into how to improve it. The best guide I've found is an American site which suggests drilling the exhaust, removing a limiter rod from the carb and then filling the key to advance the timing a few degree's. Now the increases look very impressive particularly the throttle response but I've also noticed many American loggers seem to mod their work saws more than we do over here. So basically I'm asking what people have done to theirs to give a good solid work saw that will last more than ten mins. Cheers Tucky
  13. Happy new year guys.....have fun and stay safe in 2014 Tucky
  14. The line about steers from Texas kills me Tucky
  15. No his mistake was only shooting one of them..... Tucky
  16. You best refit the arial mate or the range won't be as good with the remote control... Tucky
  17. I'm another convert bought them after spending an hour trying to get three bits of thorn out of my hands. I did offer to order my workmate some as well but he refused so I get the added bonus of watching him wince every time a thorn goes through his gloves. Cheers Tucky

    Stilts

They are ace, tho getting up without leaning on something requires Olympic gymnastics. You can get some serious speed on them to. Tucky
  20. Tucky

    Stilts

I've got a set of power risers (the ones you can run and bounce etc), keep looking at them and thinking they would be ace for both crown lifts and ceiling painting... Tucky

    Food Flasks

Sainsburys sell the Stanley ones....I bought one about a month ago and it's brilliant. Tucky
  22. You'll certainly not get many better days than today mate. Congratulations to you both Tucky
  23. Damit Bren I lost about two hours drooling over the site that stoves on. It's like the decerning gentlemans gadget porn site... Tucky
  24. I'm intrigued, how successful is this policy? Cheers Tucky
  25. Hey guys Firstly thanks for all the replies it's made fascinating reading.I can certainly see now why it's not a commonly done practice and I don't think I'll be trying to change that. I do love a challenge but at the end of the day it's got to become a tool for work so reliability is a major factor, it's all well and good proving something can be done but for the outlay involved it would need to be more than that. Thanks Tucky
