  1. BLM, publicity, body cams he knew would be recording etc etc. Surely a soldier has to comply with police when they are in a civvy situation? Or whats the 'rules' around that?
  2. I have had bad back since a biking accident about 12 years ago, and it is best when I do consistent work outs at the gym, but then when the pain gets more than usual a trip to a good osteopath makes a big difference. Note the good, some like crunching and cracking but the best one i had (sadly retired now) did far more for my comfort, with far fewer crunches compared to the 4 or 5 others i have been to.
  3. Looks like something has been piled up against it? Looks like some recent change in soil levels at the base? Any change to the foliage last summer?
  4. Beech keeps most of its leaves on virtually all winter and looks great pleached.
  5. Was every post the same or just 1? 😄
  6. ‘Chainsaw massacre’: Surrey police hunt for phantom lumberjack | UK news | The Guardian WWW.THEGUARDIAN.COM Culprit has struck up to 30 times in 10 days under cover of darkness along stretch of River Thames
  7. Another non arb outlook on it... I believe that as much as possibly should be shared with employees, and targets shared with them, and then incentives if those targets get hit, however that doesnt work with a lot of businesses where often people on the tools are not adept at understanding figures etc, (hence they arent pen pushers). But if you can get a greater understanding about the effects of decisions on profit into the heads of all staff around the business and little, regular incentives (we get more thanks for a BBQ lunch than a payrise) then they should be less likely to trash kit / talk to a customer like an idiot etc. We also always make sure we tie any pay rise to something like training courses or something else fairly tangible.
  8. +1 for similar to the knut. Climbed on it for a long while now and works well
  9. Sounds like a good thing I cant seem to see Photobucket images, if someone can share a screenshot I can share in the anger 😏
  10. Probably not quite the right thread, but saw this on a local news site. How the councillor thought that willow could be affected by Ash dieback, and how she hasnt even done any research around the coppicing of willow to see its been done several times before on those trees is beyond me. Anger as hundreds of trees chopped along A47 WWW.EDP24.CO.UK
  11. Could you not knock up a set up like one pictured on here somewhere a few months ago, using pallet racking as the guide. Cheap logosol kinda thing. I have a cheapo guide as pictured in this thread and it's rubbish.
  12. Try it and see if there is nothing important in the way when it falls over.
  13. This tree is already quite weak with the included bark union at the bottom, and will only be weakened more by removing one of the leaders. I would fell and replant.

  15. Just measure the volume w x d x h and make an approximation 🤔
  16. I do often wonder, whats better, a totally shafted tree, or no tree? Obviously I mean a 'safe' tree, not compromised structurally in said shafting. Same with farmers flailing hedges - definitely laying would be great, but not practical for all farmers to do at scale, but surely better than no hedge.....
  17. Looks like a perfect line clearance job too, assume the job was finished at that point? 😁
  18. Where are you What are they for What species
  19. Had a titan 2 stroke hedge trimmer a while ago and worked OK just didn't have the grunt of a more well known brand's or the longevity. But for smaller gardens or one off jobs it was fine
  20. This guy isnt mega far from me, and quoted my customer £950 for grinding out a large lime stump, 45inch plane stump and 18inch laurel stump. Reckoned it would be a long days work. Is that lucrative?... including 2 hours travel time + teeth + diesel Maybe if that's all you do all day you would find ways of doing it that you get better and more efficient? 21. I never knew it could get this deep just over a fallen tree 😃 Fascinating! I suppose most councils' guidance on TPOs is actually pretty wafty when you re-read it with a more sceptical / cynical eye. "What happens if a protected tree is dead, dying or dangerous? One of the exemptions from the requirement to obtain formal consent to work on a protected tree, is where the work is required to deal with a dead, dying or dangerous tree, which may involve pruning or complete removal. Please be aware that the burden of proof rests with the tree owner to prove that the tree is dead, dying or dangerous. If you are at all unsure, you are advised to contact a competent arborist or an arboricultural consultant. Unless the danger is imminent, for example the tree is about to fall across a road, you should give the council 5 days notice before undertaking any work. It would be prudent to take photographs beforehand as a record. There is also a duty to plant a replacement tree for each dead, dying or dangerous tree removed although the council may dispense with this duty if a written request is made.If you are in doubt about any of these issues, you should seek independent legal advice." Be interesting to see a TO in this case try and argue that the tree is potentially alive and shouldn't be removed 😄
  22. Hold the line while I perform an autopsy.
