  1. Was asked today whether a 600 acre woodland (mixed hard and soft) would be better sold now or kept for another 20 years. Who knows what the next wave of disease could be and when, will timber prices rise or fall? So from a business point of view would you sell now or hang on to it? Regards, Steve.
  2. Thought you were all squidding, but ink-credibly this thread has been dredged up from the depths of Barb-talk. It really is the seal-iest thing I've read, so time to scale it back. Let minnow when we all return to hu-manatee. Regards, Steve.
  3. Not sure what Canters are like for towing, but the 90XP comes in at 1950kg. The TP200 turntable is 1550kg and is fine behind the Iveco, having said that it is the 3ltr 150hp version. Regards, Steve.
  4. I'm not legally qualified, but know some who are - there are certain criteria. To be honest I'm surprised this thread is still running and in the public domain, it is not a good advert for Arbtalk as it is not arboricultural discussion or information, not even off topic banter but the degredation of a valid thread by the perpetuation of a troll. Regards, Steve.
  5. All experiences differ, I'm glad yours are positive. If I have ever managed to eventually get through to 101 the response has been less than acceptable. Unfortunately my experiences as a victim with South Wales Police have always been completely unsatisfactory. Even less so is my experience when they (as I acted as an emergency first responder) tried to frame me for a hit and run.....!!!! FFS. I have lost all faith in and respect for the Police Force and when it comes to hard working people losing kit to scum I have every empathy. Regards, Steve.
  6. Because unfortunately sometimes yards or sites are hit by people that think they are 'above the law' or 'untouchable' through lack of personal identity whether that be through having fifty people at the same temporary (camp) address with the same surname or lack of electoral register entries etc. etc. - for pc reasons I can't use the label - and they turn up and state that they will be taking xyz.... whilst brandishing various weapons and then ask if you think your job (or life) is worth it? Whereupon said guardian defecates in his/her undergarments and goes back into said caravan for a coffee while the yard is cleaned out. This country will not adopt the stance of the Middle East towards theft and therefore the deterrent is not sufficient to abate the threat. The prisons are too full and costly so the sentence too lenient. This country is also so stuck up it's own backside about human rights that if you catch a thief burgling you and anything happens to them you get arrested, possibly charged too. Anyone who suffers this occasion has my sympathy and I have indeed offered all saws, chippers, truck etc. to a local firm when they got hit, it has happened to me. Chin up OP. Regards, Steve.
  7. Mounting plate from here - Bak Rak - Large Towbar Mount - and the winch from the same people too, they don't do this model anymore. On the front of the pickup the leads go through the grill directly on to the battery, but on the back end I extend them with jump leads. It then gets unclipped before travelling on the road so you don't get nicked for obscuring your number plate. Don't forget to take it off before tipping... Regards, Steve.
  8. One of this week's jobs, over 70 dead elms to fell and extract. Not exactly roadside so stuck the winch on the back of the truck (winch plate clips on to any towbar) and off we go! Winch is 3T max pull and usually sits on the front towbar on the pickup. Regards, Steve.
  9. Page 4 https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/264623/2._Vehicle_excise_duty_for_heavy_goods_vehicles_and_reduced_pollution_certificates.pdf Regards, Steve.
  10. They do indeed, I have the 24" (243RNDD009) but would rather run a Sugi as I find them far superior. Had to order the above from the USA through Amazon. Regards, Steve.
  11. Ha - exactly what i was going to post! Trucks look a bit newer too. Regards, Steve.
  12. OK I'm bored - just had a look and all external screws on the MS150TC-E are T20. Regards, Steve.
  13. Which screws on the saw are you referring to? Can go and have a look if you want. Regards, Steve.
  14. Thanks SawTroll, a mine of information as ever. Got the micrometer out today as I realised that I had an unused 73LPX kicking about. So, 73LPX (3/8 .058) and 75LPX (3/8 .063) differ only in drive link thickness. The tie straps and cutters are identical. Therefore the amount of wood being cut is a channel .005" wider moving up to the thicker gauge. So one sharpen and difference gone. Don't think i'll beat myself up on this one - Husky will be sporting a new Sugi bar in Stihl format (with +1mm drilled out adjuster holes) and run on 75LPX off the same reel as the Stihls. Thanks for everyone's input. Regards, Steve.
  15. Thanks for the valued responses guys. A reason for my (possibly unfair) dislike of the 372 @ 24" is that I run the same chain on it as the 660 @ 25" (same no. of drive links) and they're not the same machine by any stroke. The 372 is a stonking saw @ 18". The reason I mentioned that I'm running 75LPX is that I didn't know if it might be relevant, sounds like there might be a difference in kerf width between the manufacturers. Regards, Steve.
  16. That's what I'm hoping, chain is 75LPX Regards, Steve.
  17. Evening all, Did a quick search first but no joy. In an effort to not buy an entire reel of chain for one saw, I've ordered an adapter to run Stihl bars on the 372. Currently running 18" as it doesn't really like the 24", but having said that I don't know whether that's because 24" is pushing it for this saw (i personally think it is) or the fact that it was a special order .063 bar. Reckoning best bet would be 20" Sugi. So at 20" is there going to be a noticeable difference between .058 and .063? After all that's the reason the 346 and 550 are running .050. Regards, Steve.
  18. Knott KFG 35 Cast Coupling Spares - Knott Avonride Coupling Spares - Spare Parts for Trailer Couplings - Couplings and Parts - Trailer Parts Looks like a bush where the drawtube enters but it's not listed - give them a ring. I don't know everything, but I can type things into Google:biggrin: . Regards, Steve.
  19. https://www.trailertek.com/acatalog/Drawtubes.html Further down the page. Regards, Steve.
  20. Have you tried replacing the drawbar bush? Only £10-£15. Regards, Steve.
  21. Damn you - it's stuck in my head now! It's called 'Runnin' by Naughty Boy ft. Beyoncé. Regards, Steve.
  22. What song is on repeat in your head whilst aloft? If there's a tune in my head it's either the last most annoying thing I heard or the next tune I want to use for a Youtube vid and seeing if it'd work. Regards, Steve.
  23. Having a rigging kit wouldn't make you any more attractive to me Joe unless it was a GRCS of course... It would to someone who doesn't have one, but the sort of people who don't probably aren't up to speed with rigging which as Mr. Bolam says would make for a nightmare day for you. Slippery slope though, next you'll be after an 880, stump grinder, truck, tracked chipper - oh hang on... Regards, Steve.
