1. We netted it Regards, Steve.
2. Think we over did it with the rake? Regards, Steve.
3. Are they the 2.3 or 3l? I've got the 35C14 (3l 140hp) and it pulls like a train no matter what I put behind it. Crewcab payload is only about 900kg but I'd buy another one tomorrow, really tough truck. The Navara wouldn't pull a greasy man out of bed. Regards, Steve.
4. If you're not worried about looks set a couple of hooks (bent over rebar) in concrete? Regards, Steve.
5. £6130 for remote and £1695 for dozer blade - both plus VAT. I liked the convenience of diesel and build quality, but having visited all manufacturers i couldn't justify the price. The Bandit's £10K less, it's more powerful and (only 1.5") narrower. 20170513_113447.jpg Regards, Steve.
6. Yes, like the look of it, but £24K plus VAT basic or £32K plus VAT for remote and dozer blade was way more than anything else at the show. Regards, Steve.
7. Thanks Ronald, but in the UK our standard garden gates are 2'6" so 30". By the time you take off the stops it's 29" or the machine stays in the yard - whatever the colour. Had a Lombardini engine in a TP150 chipper and did like it though. Regards, Steve.
8. You're telling me. Ordered curry and rice and it turned up with potato croquettes........WTF? Regards, Steve.
9. Threads need pics.... Was dropping some connies one day so no Ripeur 2's on....but some utility cutter had thrown a bit of Hawthorn up against the stem which I threw out of the way - raining, making the job happen in one day not a second etc. Didn't notice the thorn go in just the blood and pain a bit later. Thought nothing of it until the finger started swelling a bit more than normal that night. The next day I couldn't push the trolley round Tesco and had to give in - I'm not one to go to the Docs or Hospital but I was in so much pain I wanted an x-ray for re-assurance and some antibiotics and on my way. Nooo... you're going straight to theatre son... That red vee is septicemia and it's next stopping point is your elbow. Operation or lose half your arm. Problem is that the thorn had punctured the tendon sheath. There is no blood flow through the tendon sheath, it is fed by snorkels, without blood flow you can't flush out an infection. As an infected site is acidic a local anaesthetic won't take so it was a general there and then. Count to ten and wake up on the ward looking like a proper girly. They cut a vee either side of the point of entry and flush it through with a syringe, put you in a cast and check a few days later to see if it needs doing again, if not back in a week for stitches out and two months physio until you can climb again. Can't understand though curry, rice and potato croquettes? But hospital grub is on the up and was gratefully received. Antibiotics washed down with the usual followed by the physio and back to it. Don't eff about with thorn...... Regards, Steve.
10. Kept mine to standard sizes so it would still fold up. Regards, Steve.
11. Once had one made for an Atlas crane by a mate who has an engineering firm as second hand ones were like hen's teeth and priced accordingly. Best thing i did. Regards, Steve.
12. Piano key refers to the shape of the arms and folding arrangement, I think (though happy to be corrected) that it referred to a specific model. Regards, Steve.
13. The name 'piano key' rings a bell - possibly 650. Looking at the final extension i think it's probably not too heavy duty. Regards, Steve.
14. Looks lighter than a 3008, sorry can't be much more help than that. Are you after specs? Regards, Steve.
15. Rayco website does indeed quote 22" cutting depth, but it just depends where you start from. A little dig or grind first and you can get anything out. I like the idea of minimal effort with a couple of levers on a track machine. Had loads of trouble with creep on Friday and my shoulders hurt. Looking forward to easy street! Regards, Steve.
16. Not just width David, you need to be price competitive. The Toro is great at £9500+VAT but if it can't get through that gate it's staying in the yard earning nothing.Build quality and local dealer backup all come into it. It has to be the whole package. Regards, Steve.
17. With respect to Marco, I've found the Arblease specs to be wrong on a couple of machines. The Toro spanks the Bandit on depth, height and swing BUT...... one is 29" wide and the other is 34"...you either get through a standard 2'6" garden gate or you don't. My money's going Bandit. Regards, Steve.
18. There seems to be a decent waiting list so better get my deposit down first Regards, Steve.
19. Ok, that's that sorted - now the most important question......what colour? Leaning towards black as the Bandits do look smart in that. Have noted a comment about trying to spot oil leaks with that colour but i'll take my chance. Yellow is standard and currently second choice. Pink is possibly less nickable. So what colour would you go for? Regards, Steve.
20. Thanks everyone for your input, as I have the small machine - not ideal but does the job - which will end up 27" and get round tight corners (once carried it sideways through a kitchen door), I'm leaning towards sticking with the ZT1844. It will be more powerful and comfortable to use and I should ever need to hire anything else. Regards, Steve.
21. Thanks Kev, looking to cut down the 30" wheeled grinder for that situation - can probably get it down to 27", it's just hard work compared to a bigger machine. Turning on lawns I guess we'll have to carry a sheet of ply? Just wondering whether to go for this or settle for an HB20. Regards, Steve.
22. Evening all, Currently looking to upgrade the grinder and was set on the Toro STX-26 (34" wide) until I spoke to Dean at the show and realised that the ZT1844 (29" wide) won't break the bank. Lost count of the number of jobs where we're scraping the tyres at 30". Taking the gate off is fine until it's brick walls etc. The HB20 and JoBeau B24-100 are down to 25" but I'd rather have a track machine with a lot more power. There's also the Predator 28x at 26", expanding tracks and a price tag to match. So, how many jobs would you be able to get a 25" machine in where 29" is too much? Or am I over thinking this? Regards, Steve.
23. About ten years ago. Internet price wars mean that at the shows all you can do is save yourself the inconvenience of waiting in for a delivery. To expect the sellers to bring the shop to you, set up and pay for the pitch, pack up and transport all the unsold goods back again...why would they bother? It's just a loss leader. This year for me the show was about talking to all the grinder dealers, talking specs, prices and deals and looking at the machines in the flesh. Got to catch up with a few Arbtalkers (Silky Fox and the lesser spotted Mr. Plogs to name but a few!). I've now changed my intended pre show grinder purchase which I wouldn't have done without the show. Regards, Steve.
24. The lesser spotted Mr. Plogs......without the German helmet. Regards, Steve.
