  1. I'd rather spend 5 minutes with a metal detector 😅
  2. I looked on their site for that app, but only appears to be on Apple and as android user not much use, so have found another. However the Apple reviews are far less satisfactory with wrong calculations and figures. Id be double checking just incase.
  3. Their will always be varying parameters. Majority of big outfits will be selling timber for biomass and chipping it. I, therefore only pay just over what they would get for it. However as soon as you show interest their ears prick up and think its worth a fortune as someone wants to buy it. Negating the fact that it needs collection, milling stacking and drying and any defects the timber may present when cut is all at my risk. At that stage unless I really fancy the timber I walk away, let them have there £10 a cube for chip out of it! I recently wanted some timber which was over a 3 hr round trip therefore would cost me in collection over £400 in my time excluding timber costs. I offered him 100 for the stem, he laughed and said it was worth more in firewood. Fine mate crack on, I then here through another source it was just loaded by a grab lorry and dumped at a recycling centre. I am in Sussex and have spoken with alot of the big contractors with a few more enquiries in going, good bits iam finding hard to source mind as its all plain stuff.
  4. The main stem, to that fork is about 22ft and dead straight.
  5. Where you ordering bits from? Can't see half the stuff I am needing?
  6. Not only have I been obviously paid handsomely for the removal, but with his now new large stash of ash logs he doesn't require anymore logs 😅so the trunk is free to a good home 😜 Will see how we go 💪
  7. random question. Today we felled a leaning woodland Ash, approximately 28" in diameter on the leeward side of a copse. Tall tree 75ftish. As we all know, soon as some timber is felled the stress release fractures the timber. upon the floor after 5 minutes we heard the normal sounds of Ash letting go. I am hoping to return to the trunk in the next week or so as there is a lovely wide Olive colour band. Currently the log is approximately 25ft and ill need to cut to remove it in sections from the property. Normally i throw the logs on to my new milling pile, however i am concerned that once the stick is cut again more stress will be released. Am I best to be cutting up the pith straight away, or leave for a while as normal?
  8. It will be on a cow yard concrete silage base. Was poking about this afternoon but could see frustration levels and cold fingers getting the better of me... So came inside for a warm snooze in front of the log burner 😅
  9. I can see this taking sometime to get things level on that top face....
  10. Best part sorted out, Couple of bits I need. Carriage which i knew about, but cant seem to.find the support bar that goes with it? I'll get the new log winder rope which I am missing (pullies all good) Log lifter black handle. I cant see any of those online so ill give them a call tomorrow. But very pleased thus far, especially for the cost of the unit I cant complain. Look forward to working with it.
  11. Bought second hand, from a kind gentleman. Looks like I need to find me some twine for the lifter as well, but that may be in another yet unexplored box. Just been putting the lifters together.
  12. I've watched most videos that YouTube has fo offer at the annoyance of the wife 😅 Just collected, all in boxes as described. Just need to order the carriage later on today
  13. Like Christmas eve 😅 Roll on the morning 🌄
  14. I know, I should of asked before I bought them 😅 But have bought a Trend box of them new, 12 pieces I think or £26 or there abouts. I've also bought a trim router as well, £40 hopefully can't go to wrong for the money 🤷‍♂️ Mostly poking about making a knife board for the boss, and may make a new chopping board for her as well... At least I'll have something half reasonable to look at if my head gets on it 😅
  15. Keep me in mind 👍 I'll come around and start marking up some of my own trees id like felled 🤣
  16. That should give some scale on 14ft 6 ifor 😅
  17. Hope so, big old bit of Sweet Chestnut
  18. According to Google calculations there is just shy of 74 cubic feet in that log, equivalent to around 2 cubic meters. But happy to be told otherwise, maths not my strong point
  19. My machine will lift 1.2, that didn't move it other than an end. And it would certainly not fit an F series that I know!!
  20. My father was a fabricator so that will be his jurisdiction 😅 However I wonder if an 090 and 54" bar would fit 🤣 Can't wait for Sunday, belated Xmas present! Was organising this lump earlier ready to make a start, only to find thread stripped on one of my mills U bolts 🤦‍♂️ Narrowest part 40", Widest will be around 47" x 6ft 6" My machine wouldn't lift but only the end and had to drag it... just 😅 Definitely not a lump for the F2!!!
  21. On top of a hill 😅 Looks like nice woodcock and snipe ground for some shooting with the dogs!
  22. I believe so, however I see no reason why something couldn't be fabricated for what ever lenght you need. Just two different diameter poles with a split pin to move as needed 🤔
  23. Different tool for different jobs
  24. Hoping for collection on this week which will be fab. Now just need my.timber delivery to come in! But to be fair with all this wind and back log of tree work no idea when ill get milling 🤦‍♂️
