  1. You need to think about airflow that is paramount. see this video to understand and watch as many videos as you can!
  2. Cambium layer is all wrong for hornbeam, virtually non existent. looks like a elm species, any more bark pictures?
  3. Food safe mineral oil, or better known as a laxative from the chemist. that’s what everyone uses in the board game uses followed by a beeswax/ mineral oil board butter
  4. Have a. Look on YouTube at black forest wood company they do loads with resin finishing etc. @lux drop me a message as I’ve lost all phone numbers
  5. Think of how you will be loading it and more importantly think very carefully how you set the stack up in relation to the fans you need to mount and their positioning. mine will be on a large pallet I can fork in and out and baffle the ends and top accordingly to maximise air flow through the stack. Mine won’t be perfect due to my limited cealing height but as my space is relatively small and compact it should be fine. what size box is it?
  6. Someone was paying 65 a cube seasoned. I am asking 120 for the board but working on the wow factor as a top up over green price. yes a little funky in shape but practical table with a stunning book match pair which has already sold for more than I was initially asking. this timber is showing some amazing figure of all types.
  7. Yes collective thoughts. 1400 x1000 2-3”
  8. Had a few deliveries this week and last which should see me through the final stage of the build. Just awaiting a few electrical components but most importantly I now have yhe humidity and temperature controllers.
  9. You building one as well?
  10. Those boards of the Sycamore, they are roughly 3 cube. Beautiful timber too, what sort of price would YOU pay per board. Obviously these are green, I sell at seasoned price so give me two,one for green and one seasoned that you would be happy paying?
  11. Fresh off the mill this morning, spalted sycamore that I bought in middle of last year and left to sit in the yard. 1400 x 1000
  12. Needed to get some logs out of the way so made a start on the Burr maple today. Some beautiful boards though a pain to try and photograph well due to how light toned they currently are.
  13. I run 54" full comp chain with rakers filed off flat on my 070 same cc as your 075. Man up and buy a bigger bar! If I need more horses I'll break out the 090 💪
  14. From a milled Ash board the other week brought indoors and kept down the side of the freezer out of direct heat. The Spalting is lovely. Finished in Danish oil,
  15. Customer fighting to get this monster cookie in the van this morning 😅
  16. I'll cherry pick the best bits, see what the trunk decay is like. But I'll be posting pictures if and when I get that far!
  17. Fans and small bits arrived today, edging ever closer now 👍
  18. Some of the American guys I've quizzed on fb milling page rate it quite highmy, but as noted can be hard. But not as hard as Norway Maple. Would be a shame to send it to the chipper, I've wanted this tree for milling since I reduced it 14 years ago 🤣 Like most stuff it would be internal tables etc. There are several bark areas that show there may be quilting and ripple within. Which reminds me, must get a big Sycamore done !
  19. Got this to take down, Left hand bough section is dead, tree has honey fungus on that corner. Not milled it before and was wondering if worthy of my efforts? Coming close to 4ft dbh
  20. Sounds about right. A lot of guys use the insulated van backs, however since the likes of tesco, sainsbury etc now have there own delivery vans they are not particularly designed well for what we want though with small indivdual doors and a single small roller door. Sure you could cut one about but makes life awkward. They can be had dirt cheap for about 300-400 if you can put up with their shortfall of design. I wouldn't have! This i can load straight in with the wood on a pallet and forks without having to hand ball them individually in and stack! 550 delivery sounds good and fair to me. If you look on ebay there are some listed near Ringwood i was contemplating. My back is entirely aluminium and cost me £620 buying and collecting, excluding my Sunday drive time. I've now bought 90% of the bits i need and will come in under 1500 all in, fans, heater, dehumidifier, temperature/ humidity gauge, anemometer, glues, wood etc.
