  1. Few hours this morning, nearly getting ready now. Few loose ends to buy, power leads, humidity / temperature sensors. Roof supports aren't staying just helping hold the roof whilst supports dry in place externally. Few gaps to fill and odds and ends. 20220123_130520.mp4
  2. Sweet, that's a fair lump too!! Guessing that is the maple on the stair treads?
  3. Can't grumble for that cost, but 😮
  4. What on earth is that pipework!!! Looks like a recipe for disaster and pinched piping. Mine looks nothing like that!!!
  5. Be over that like a rash! Where is it? Send it down south to me!
  6. No milling, but some nice Burr field maple logs from a customers garden. 24" diameter x 3m long x 3. May leave one to splat for a few years.
  7. So easy to cut with a good chain !
  8. If you want a more professional version, here you go.
  9. Yes the slapdash approach is not for me I am much more regimented in my approach, I am not one for spending money without return. I've seen plenty of videos and FB chats and hopefully have in my mind the process to move forward I feel. Fans are a sticking point here in the UK it seems.... All vanity based, wrong sizes and volumes unless you go proper industrial, but over sized for a craft of this size 🙄
  10. Yes that is the way forward for sure, I have no interest in wasting good wood I have milled or oak at this stage. I do however have some air dried oak I may use in my test runs.
  11. If you watch some of the videos, I think they show content. I am sensing skepticism in your posts 🙂
  12. The latter video is of a similar size to mine, mine being just a bit smaller in volume. Fb groups have been great in advice as it seems much more prevalent in the states than over here. This is just a small selection of videos the YT has to offer. The middle video is basic just randomly placed insulation boards taped together.
  13. Yes indeed. I will have a good selection of timber in the coming months that will be nearly eligible for the kiln. A small kiln like this doesn't require much work based in some simple principles of mainly a dehumidifier to get temperature on the box initially to around 35° and is a gradual process with a dehumidifier that is smaller rather than bigger and rush through things. Only requiring a final heat cycle at the very end for bug life etc. There are countless YouTube videos of such simple setups like this and I've watched nearly every one and there is a couple of great fb groups for wood kilns on any scale. Problems and issues happen as the scale gets involved as the dehumidifier for instance isn't big enough to produce its own heat in a container and then that is where the Nyle systems and schedules get much more involved. I'll post some videos up of some simple builds in a bit. For the volume I produce and sell, which of late has been getting more and more this is an ideal size for me.
  14. Something I've thought about for a long time now, finally decided that 2022 is the year of action 🤪 Took a long day trip from Sussex to North Wales and back with the collection of a three roller shutter van back. I had looked at the insulated varieties, though with the like of Asda, tesco and sainsbury having these new smaller multi function backs finding something suitable was few and far between. Today saw the start of the project and look forward to getting things underway!! Currently fitted out with 4" insulation boards. Roof section yet to be added in. Will do 90% of my boards, dimensions internally are going to be around 3300 x 1550 x 1250. 20220115_132815.mp4
  15. Yes,much better. The winch has been on for a while, just forgot to take the string with me. Just need to carefully listen to the pitch of the engine to make sure your at optimum revs.
  16. More F2 time this morning on some Canker Ash. Winch system now installed as well, great asset to the system for sure.
  17. Yes certainly does, that screw provided is junk though... I need more super glue to stop it coming undone. Why they couldn't make the magnet 1/4" thicker so you can actually tighten the screw up properly... rather than having about 3 or 4 threads in the magnet at best 🙄
  18. Finally managed to get some proper hours under my belt today on the F2. Really really pleased with the results and ease of use. Sure, there are a few things I need to sort out but overall brilliant bit of kit! I wish I had bought the carriage last year when I bought the mill 🙄 Manage to get the bar magnet setup and finish the Beech that I had problems with and now have boards of even thickness. Also resawn some quater sawnBurr Brown Oak that I cut 8 years ago that had moved in to fire mantles. 11ft of Yew also attacked.
  19. That what I am looking for amd respectable for the type of equipment, and equal tolerance is fine just not all one side 🤣
  20. On my two boards I cut with an 880 and brand spanking new 30" bar i had about 8mm of deflection in the bar, rendering the boards to look like ship lap 🤣 After measuring from the log lifter bed the saw end as a reference point i measureed the outer edge and lifted the bar until what brought measuremenus equal and had the same deflection. That is why instantly I went and bought the support. I cannot and will not tolerate sloppy boards for resale. There was a thread on the logosol users page on fb recently where someone was having significant problems. I spent a lot of time on set with a straight edge and looking forward to the next few cuts.
  21. I think that is top end of the design limitation of the F series. I've a few 28 Oak logs that I wouldn't even consider milling on my f2. Id probably break it in to cants and reprocess. If your doing timber that size everyday than a bandsaw is the way forward. The f series from my limited 2 bad board experience excels at the smaller mod diameter timber that is awkward on an Alaskan.
  22. Hoping that is it now for expenditure! From what I paid for it, and now the sled and support bar I am about 400 under the full current asking price.
  23. Another $$$ spent, Saw carriage built this afternoon and ready to roll. Hopefully some square boards !
