And this is the folding knife, but will be made with fire pattern Damascus steel. And now possibly with my wood, other options are sheep horn, buffalo horn, camel bone or bull horn. 3" blade I think

That's the kind of thing I'm looking for. Where abouts is your village? Not a definite at this stage just costing out options. My boards are 2" so would be to be split to get a book match pair.

Looking at getting some custom Damascus knives made in the future when money is available for Xmas presents, and it dawned on me it would be nice to utilise some of my nice spalted Holly,and or the Burr Yew I have. I have found someone on the web, but thought I would ask here as well. Does anyone have experience in this field?

I can't write a full review as I've only had mine since December and was a Xmas present to myself. I picked up a late 2007 auto commercial with 17k on the clock. Having just done a trip to Wales and other long journeys the fuel economy was running around the 34.5 mark, my father's manual gets around 36+. Love the comfort and quietness, torque and general driveability. No towbar at present but have a full Witter to fit. Have had no issues other than a brake calliper issue which was repaired under warranty. Along with my 92 plate defender second best vehicle I have owned, part from my Caterham😂

Sorry Ian, just seen this. Very good for my needs, quick with a good finish but then I've nothing to compare it to! Was practically brand new as the chap had died and his son was clearing out. I paid 360 for it:thumbup:

Never touch the breaks as stated always light acceleration then slow the rig back down when in a stable tow. But I guess unfortunately you know this now. Cars can be replaced, glad you came away relatively unscathed

It was trued up between centres first, then once in a barrel form I changed it over, but yes screws may of needed to of been longer perhaps

So yesterday had some spare time, and whilst reorganising some logs i found some lenghts of cankered ash i had saved, just incase one day i got a lathe! So after an hour i had what resembled a nice piece of wood. I wanted to turn a hole for the bigger candles we have, after making a tennon and fixing the face plate i set to it. Shortly after the wood decided to part company from the screws which was a bit exciting. I tried again and same thing happened it came off of the chuck instead. So decided the easier option was to drill the hole. That started well until the drill pulled the hole off center. Oh well, still useable and looks ok for a first semi serious bash anyway. In my box of goodies was some gloss acrylic spray to finish it off.

Just catching up on this thread again as iam now at the point with my burr Oak table top that before i go any further I need to fill in a crack or two. I have found this, 1.5kg Low Viscosity Ultra-Clear Epoxy Resin [uV Resistant] | eBay is that suitable? And perhaps being blonde but was mix by weight not volume?how should I mix this?

Some of you may recall last year I milled my burr Oak, got the first am small bit out of the shed and have decided upon a nice small side / occasional table. The burr is stunning throughout with only really one largeish crack about 5" long. Table is approximately 20*14" I would like to utilise possibly some bone Oak as legs and have a couple of forked sections I could us. I don't particularly won't to drill and plug the burr, what would your suggestions be for fixing them underneath? Pictures of the burr to follow!

Looks like we got some fun going on, and three pages!! As it turns out, we have got the job. Man in charge was more interested in my "financial interests" rather than quibbling the costing. (Due to other reasons) But I do have an understanding of live stock behaviour having been brought up on farms and worked on them as my wife did on her grandparents farm. And as a matter of interest, the chap who helps with my fencing is a fencer by trade and cut his teeth agricultural stock fencing for sheep in NZ as a kiwi himself so we know how not to do things!! Thanks all for the input

Turned some robinia tonight! Raided my log pile, cut a loose round with my 150 and got stuck in ! Lovely colour, my turning needs some polishing though!

Ok thanks, Just looked back at the quote and it was 1350, which work out at 6.22 but includes gates and furniture etc. So happy with that. Customer asking.......

Would be interested in ideas of price please. I have quoted for a total of 217m to include a 3ft and 10ft gate, single strand of plain wire on top. Due to the ground the straining posts will be of box type construction. £1300 to include materials and labour, what is the going southern rate pm? Thanks
