  1. When people are charging £60-£80 per tonne for cord delivered, then that felled tree at £102 is a bargain. I've been looking for cord in West Lancs and been let down twice. Had a couple of others prove too expensive.
  2. Sir you are a GENIUS:thumbup: Got mine to work following this advice and still have fingers n thumbs:lol:
  3. Still looking for cord for the log burner in West Lancs! Anyone know who has been clearing behind the church in Halsall?
  4. Wouldn't be without mine for doing larger borders in less time. Stihl have just reissued their version and it has power brushes, Cant get them for my mantis:001_huh:
  5. No worries, if you are dropping any more let me know as Im looking for cord to cut for log burner as we have gone through this years supply so need to replenish wood store for next winter. The price of LPG is ridiculous and so the log burner is a lifesaver in the house.
  6. Has this gone yet?
  7. :thumbup:good luck and hope to see some pics of the finished piece.
  8. Thanks Rob, sent you a message.
  9. Great work so far, there is a book Chainsaw Carving an Eagle: A Complete Step-by-step Guide (Paperback) By (author) Jamie Doeren, That would be worth your while buying it has loads of detail etc, think its about £8 on amazon. Other than that take your time and have a look on youtube etc for how others have got to the next step.
  10. robarb your pm is full
  11. Go on line and see if you can find anyone who has uploaded any similar bid that may have achieved funds. It will give you a flavour of the type of language they are looking for in your bid.
  12. Anyone got 5-6 tonne of fresh cut Cord, hard or softwood. Need about 5-6 tonne for log burner for next winter. House is on LPG and its proving costly too run. I can collect in a couple of trips. Please PM with detail. Many thanks
  13. Have to agree, hired one and it took more time than loading brash onto trailer and taking to tip in 4 or 5 trips. Skips where 6 miles from job. Absolute pants of a machine:thumbdown:
  14. Don't go off on one! But aren't Maccullochs owned by Husqvarna same as Stihl own Nilsfix these days. I was in the suppliers collecting gear and the guy who runs the place was saying, wish I'd known earlier as the nilsfix jet wash( exactly same spec as the Stihl only different colour scheme) was £100 cheaper.
  15. Get into gardening, I'm 50+ started gardening last year as a business after 10 years sat at puter 12 hours a day or driving to meetings that totalled 50k miles a year. Since starting on the gardening and doing 6-7 hours 3 days a week lost 4+ stone, leaner, meaner and fitter than ever. The meaner bit is probably coz I'm past 50 and turning into a grumpy old git. I've also gotta Kona Lava dome, my boys say its vintage as I bought it so long ago.
  16. Is that what the line is cutting across the deck in the first pic? Mighty fine work sir, mighty fine. Big T tip is to take your time and if you get residue on the flags clean it off asap.
  17. :thumbup1:Good work, like the fact the dog is freestanding. Have you seen all the cord and felling on the site out along the A49 towards the m62? Wonder who has been clearing there?
  18. I bought a Jet variable speed from Axminster as my starter, solid lathe that works a treat. I was in the Warrington store today and they have some real decent new kit at very reasonable prices. Machine Mart also have a decent selection at decent prices.
  19. Quality gear onboard, hope you clamp it to prevent the want it, it must be mine brigade. I've got an Iffor and its clamped and chained no matter where it gets parked.
  20. Picked up 2 new customers today, no flyers, recommended by another gardener who is fully booked. i met him when I did one of my early flyer runs and got chatting. Since then had 6 regular customers from him. Couple of bottles of wine as a thanks for each one.
  21. Have to agree with pie eater Pete. Got the early traunch of customers from the flyers then its all been WOM. Wasted £90 advertising in the Go Local not 1 call for 3 month (Mar-MAY) Advert.

Mine has Name General Garden Maintenance Grass Cutting Hedge Trimming Patio &Driveway PowerWash Tree & Shrub Pruning For a friendly reliable local service Please Call Phone no's Web address Got 10,000 a5's then someone told me to include home contact phone no after 6pm so people know your not a traveller. Flyers have brought in 90% of my regular custom
  24. Thanks Dan, good point re cost of hire and client. It's going to lead to other landscaping once stump grinding is finished. I'm using the grindings to mix with compost and top soil tilling the mix back into soil as its heavy clay in the main.
  25. Thanks Mark will do. I had the same problem with a 4'' chipper took ages and would have been quicker to load up the Iffor and take to the tip. Got my money back from the hire shop on that one.
