  1. Thanks Reddog,me thinks the go pro is knackered. I bought a Zippo hand warmer which is awesome. No boiling water simply fill up light and go, mmmm toastie.
  2. Paddy's, Glen fiiddi or Jamieson's for me.
  3. Watched the Countryfile weather before and its gonna blow cold early part of the week. This is great for me as Mon- Weds is when I do gardens and Thurs Fri is whatever comes my way.
  4. Thanks mate, I think we are about to enter the nightmare zone with the Go Pro 3.
  5. Thanks mate, it was a bit of a wtf moment as we paid decent money for his go pro 3 and with him being on tour he can't afford to miss certain shots but did through the faulty equipment. Lower model seems to be working but cost us a fair bit for the two cameras.
  6. Me too Welding Gauntlets have always been best choice or hedging gauntlets from TCV £3 per work well.
  7. Yeah Wee Dee thanks for the post, he's invested a bit in the cards so top spec, and Paul it is in Vid mode that it freezes. He's on tour at the mo so had to go and buy another go pro ( lower model) and drop off off for him. Not sure how we send the pro 3 back though.
  8. Bought one of my boys a Go Pro Hero 3 for a tour he's on as an official photographer and he's just rang to say it keeps freezing on him. He's downloaded a couple of fixes and none seem to work anyone got any ideas or had a similar problem?
  9. Good Luck to you bud, its tough out there but if you can get the quals and hours in fair play. I did 25 years public sector, 10 years private sector, wife's a teacher too. I mainly do landscaping and gardens and the work is out there for a hard worker. I did my CS30,31 and 32 way back and it was worth every penny. Not sure if you fancy the change of scenery but Myerscough College does CS30/31 for around £700
  10. Two calls today one at 6.45 am and one at 7.15, 6.45 said they'd been ringing the mobile but got no answer, checked mobile no missed calls. Both are to be done this week. Yee hah!
  11. Just serviced the stihl strimmer, sharpened the edging shears and edging iron on the grinder and will hopefully collect the ariens mower from service later this week. In the meantime will make do with putting customers off the idea of cutting this week.
  12. Hey Matt Good to see your regular updates, we did the PPG17 site audit for the council back in the day and its great to see the improvements being made. Well done. As to the flytipping post earlier on in your thread the ranger service I managed would simply return the lost property to its rightful owners and i would wait for the phone call from the irate resident.
  13. I was enjoying the calm of having time to thin and prune without the madness of cutting the grass. Just looked at my own lawn and its already going to need 2 cuts just to get it down. Problem with ours is that its still too wet to get a machine on.
  14. Nice project, If you haven't already sectionalise the wood in a simple plan (rough map will do) and mark what you aim to do. Don't worry about the lichen its a clean air indicator and has established because of a lack of air flow in the wood. They are often a sign that the wood through its natural regeneration and long time lack of management is choking itself as the trees all compete for space and light and some start to die back. If you don't like the moss and lichen they will start to die off when you start to open the wood up through management, cutting back pruning out. Do you have any opportunity to create coppice?
  15. Back to it then, was looking forward to a hard but quiet few weeks, pruning back, getting the final bits of winter work sorted but looks like its game on again.
  16. Seriously doesn't it go yellow with the frost. I'll have to get the mower out from service to get started. Has been a funny season this year, trees haven't been dormant for long and the saps risen and now the grass season is almost back on.
  17. I was finishing pruning back in a garden this week when the next door neighbours garden jumps out gets his mower going and cuts the neighbours lawn. Surely its too early as next morning we had a hard frost.
  18. I use a Stihl Kombi with a 1m carbon pole, it has the saw attachment and angle head hedge trimmers, brilliant bit of kit. Mine is the KM130R, light and has enough power for my needs. Mainly a lot of low level lopping branches or trimming hedges. If you buy second hand check the gearing on the kombi attachments they need lubing on a fairly regular basis I also recently invested in a Wolf Garten Pole pruner with lopper and saw heads, reaches upto 4 m and again for me is a brilliant bit of kit that saves me getting the ladders out and using the Silky.
  19. I normally use a dry mix, post crete or a mix of both to give uprights good grounding. If the joists are going on the ground I use a roll of 4"dpc stapled to the timber edge that sits on the ground.
  20. If you can wait a couple of weeks Honda normally offer £100 cash back on their larger mowers at the start of the season.
  21. With Customers you never know what their situation is, might have been on holiday and got back late last night , might have used up all his logs due to the snow. Yes he probably should have realised before Sunday morning that his supply was getting low but he hasn't. Best thing is to smile, take a breath and get paid for delivering logs to a happy customer who might recommend you to his friends.
  22. We keep Bees and your spot on. Flowering Ivy is a life saver during pollen drought. An old saying for bee keepers is that for foraging bees, trees are the supermarkets and flowers are simply the corner shop. Our bees are all tucked up hopefully keeping the hive at the necessary constant temperature. As such we are helping by giving them sugar fondant or sugar solution to help them through till it warms up. Got to be above 10 degrees for them to get out and about. Ours love himalayan balsam- big no no to the enviro bods but for bees its a must.
  23. Poplar, Cherry and Syc all gor buds on up here on the Lancashire Moss. Felled a Pop yesterday and the sap was running like a tap. Not good as I was always taught that if the saps up the saws go down, but we haven't really had much of a closed season.
  24. Thanks Guys, I'm absolutely knackered but feel great. Will take the pics in future.
