Not sure if people have seen but couple of jobs that have been sent to me by old colleagues and contacts Glendales have a number of vacancies for aborist/climbers at a couple of different locations. Green Service Provider - Glendale Managed Services Treelands are looking for a forest manager in Scotland (Lockerbie) Number of positions available through FCR Jobs again across the UK Arboriculture Jobs | Jobs for tree surgeon, arborist, climber, Surveyor, Permissioner, authorised person, climber, groundsperson - Landscape jobs, garden centre, horticulture, arboriculture & gardening jobs now on FCR-Jobs.com
  2. £120 has to be your minimum thats £15 per hour for an 8 hour day then add on the cost of the things you need, fuel, travel, insurance, Personal Insurance, etc. I started gardening last year and here the going rate for the most basic gardening service is £15 per hour, thats if the gardener turns up on a regular basis. I do much more and turn up on time and when expected after a good and busy first year will be increasing my rate. In answer to your original question are you selling yourself short. If you are a trained and qualified abor my answer would be a most definate yes. I did my CS30/31 &32 back in the day and wish I had carried them on as the rates some of the unqualified tree gangs are charging up here is mental. If your current contract doesn't allow you to negotiate on this, move on. You will always find work.
  3. Ha ha that's superb!
  4. Here you go BBC Two - Gardeners' World, 2011, Episode 16, Wisteria pruning Jan feb prune it back to two buds.
  5. Just a quick post to say thanks to all the pm's re the MTD top handle saw. As advised I've sacked off that idea and gone with the Wolf Garten 4m extendable pole pruner. Bought it from World of Wolf much cheaper than some other sites, should be here tomorrow. Thanks again.
  6. on yola site builder on right hand side of screen is widgets, click on google maps and then type in your location, you can zoom in by moving slider on left of screen and then save.
  7. Took these before the snow arrived, See what you think.
  8. Awesome post well done. One thing you might want to consider is to learn to drive as soon as you can, the cost of insurance will be a ballache but it will pay dividends in the freedom it will give you. Keep posting your updates and enjoy.
  9. Not paid a penny other then my time to pull the site together.
  10. www. macgardensolutions.co.uk but if you simply type in macgardensolutions it will show up. I've also linked it to nearby towns such as Formby, Ormskirk. so that it shows up in local searches for gardening services.
  11. Thats done through your Google webmaster, you update your key words on it a few times and it will show up. Hope that makes sense.
  12. Cheers, glad you liked it.
  13. Have a look at the flexothane. Its extremely light very flexible as it stretches and completely waterproof. I have had gortex and pertex and one day this summer went through 4 jackets because of the rain. Bought the flexothane suit (jacket and bib n brace trousers) and despite the worst of the weather have been completely dry all day.
  14. Yes, once you get into it and understand the google side. Thats where it puts in the links on the servers so that people can find you. But generally very straight forward, it gives you how to do advice as you go through making it easy. I started by looking at the content on other garden service websites and then pulled the text together for mine.
  15. Sorry, mine is at Mac Garden Solutions Formby -Home
  16. Not sure if anyone needs a web site but you can create one free through YOLA putting British Business on line. Its Free for up to two years and needs a UK registered tel no and google gmail, after 2 years its a relatively small fee compared to other hosting sites I've set one up for my gardening work and it took about 4 hours to pull together and go live. Anyone need more info or help let me know.
  17. For really bad wet weather i use Flexothane bib n brace trousers and jacket. £50 for suit, probably ok for groundies but not up in the canopy.
  18. Here's mine, hes a Tibetan (Terrorist). He was a rescue dog that was very badly treated and we managed to collect from a brilliant rescue centre. He's simply a terrific dog with great character. Comes to work with me and loves every minute.
  19. Jotul everytime, clean burn system with very little ash if any when burning seasoned wood. Might be a little expensive but well worth it in the long run.
  20. Thanks, Note what you all say. I have a Silky Zubat and its brilliant, will look at the Silky pole pruner as a safer option.
  21. Thanks Mate will do. Was in dealers yesterday and the MTD was by the till(like sweets in the shop). I'm looking for the smallest lightest saw and this was small. I prefer rear handled but this one had a small bar possibly 6-8 inch.
  22. I'm looking for a small light weight saw mainly for occasional ladder work. I mainly use Stihl but came across a very small very light MTD saw for £110. Are they any good or should I hold out for a Stihl?
  23. Snow is light but blowing out on the moss at Altcar. Wood burners a glowing and expecting delivery of new timber garage.
  24. Does anyone know where I can buy the Silicone or Rubber cones to put on my turned bottle stops? I've seen some in the Axminster store but they only sell them in small quantities. I could do with at least 100+
  25. Rain, drizzle, rain, drizzle. Got 4 gardens to do today. No work no pay! Now where are my Flexothanes.
