  1. Tried nu,erous places for a new Husky jacket but being messed about by one company saying they had it in stock and a week later admitting they didn't so gave my money to a forum sponsor for one in the new year. Off for a bottle of laphroig tomorrow and a new rough shooting shotgun. May also have to grab a crate of Hobgoblin too.
  2. Can only congratulate the police on this regarding their response too. No further action to be taken against the farmer. Your mate must have been bricking it to a degree no matter how handy you are. I know if anyone was breaking into my house I'd fire a shot off too. My kids are my life and I won't have any scum put their or my life in danger if I can help it.
  3. :thumbup1:I have a working Border collie. If he doesn't know you he won't be too keen on you coming in...If you do get in....he won't let you leave. Lovely strong dog generally but around strangers I don't trust him unless he's on the lead. He's certainly no coward with bullying things. He moves the pigs and bull at the farm with no effort or backing off. He's had a few boots but just goes back for more. We don't get too many cold callers when he's stood at the window baring his teeth and showing them he's not happy. Now if he could control the cold callers on the phone..........
  4. R5log? Ar$e log? Mitch, that trailer is a serious bit of kit. Really like that! Hope it serves you well.
  5. We have tested the newer range of hilti drills and they blow our makita 18v sds out of the water. The back up from hilti is also excellent. Think we are purchasing two in the new year now. Our makita has been good but batteries last us about a year. Drilling everyday in all weathers. Wouldn't touch newer dewalts with a barge pole. Had a few of the older ones with metal gearbox and they pretty much gave up before a year. The older stuff wasn't too bad.
  6. Oh no! I have some band aids in the van mate if she needs one? If you ever break down/ run out of electrickery we could push her into the back of my sprinter and get her home. ;-)
  7. Just tell them if they have an issue to take it up with the neighbour/ council etc. you're just the contractor that's been brought in by the person who is paying the bill. Apologise with "so without being rude I have a busy day and need to crack on. If you have any trees though that need attention though, I can leave you a card if you like? " if they don't want a card then get started with the work.
  8. Pleased to hear your gears been recovered Jonny and a few scumbags caught. We had 14 units done over in Elland a few weeks ago by thieves. Pulled into the yard on a Saturday late afternoon, cut locks to 14 units and proceeded to take what they could. Our unit got broken into but luckily for us they only took a load of 110v cables before getting disrupted by the landlord. He blocked the gates and they smashed their way out through his van. Certainly wasn't for stopping. Nobody's been caught for it yet sadly.
  9. Rightly soo too! I don't begrudge anybody enjoying what they do but having a bit of respect for those around you goes a long way. If that means not shooting a certain area to save hassle then so be it.
  10. Backstop, backstop, backstop....Something we are always looking at whether we are on rifles or the shotguns. Your shot as said shouldn't leave the area you are shooting in. We have one field on a neighbouring farm that we don't shoot near or towards due to horses and a bungalow next to it with a bunny hugger in. It's not worth the hassle but also not a safe shot. I've had shot rain down on me before as a beater and it's not exactly comfortable when it hits bare skin. Certainly wouldn't want it in my eyes.
  11. You might have missed out for this year with the likes of the council and schools etc as they generally order in advance. Can't harm sending them a mailshot or leaflet or details though. Residential care homes, private nurseries, recreation groups, sports centers, local paper, shopping centres etc etc. Have a look through the yellow pages for various groups and companies. Not sure on price i'm afraid though. 5 seconds on google got this link though....£290 upwards. 15ft - 20ft Christmas Trees from Real Christmas Trees - Free nationwide delivery on our Real Christmas trees
  12. I managed about an hour and half's sleep last night. Got a trapped nerve or something in my lower back which is giving me some grief. Just waiting for the other half to take me to the doctors later this morning. Couldn't even put my socks on without help earlier.
  13. See if there are any mx/enduro clubs near you. They regularly half bury large tyres and use them as extreme sections for the riders to cross.
  14. Dean, When you get sorted if you are definitely interested in secure CCTV and it all sorting out drop me a pm. Good trusted mate of mine fits CCTV for a big company. Decent honest lad who will advise and fit the best for you if you want it.
  15. Someone's surely taking the mick there. Who's that from? Parts? What parts? Reuse the fittings already on it. Do you have the sizes of the glass?
  16. No worries mate. Most balustrade glass is laminated. Average 12mm but various depths available. Hazarding a guess but most companies will bill you for 2-3 hours for that. Travelling etc and fitting plus overheads/ profit etc. we had a panel to replace in Manchester city centre a few weeks back and charged £280 supplied and fitted. Fit it yourself though. It's genuinely easy to do. Provided you have time for running around sorting it out spare. If you were up here I'd have sorted it out for the cost of the glass and a bottle of malt. ;-)
  17. Seriously, first time we started installing glass we assumed it was expensive for toughened and laminated glass. It honestly isn't. Glass is pretty cheap. The stainless posts mind...are not. Fitting is also a doddle. Takes us about 10 minutes to fit the inline panels and square them up. Make sure you get exact dimensions though for the holes and sizes. You'll also know when it's tight when re-fitting. It's hard to over tighten glass fixings. If it's laminated glass just be carefull when handling it and don't touch the edges on the floor. They 'split' and chip if you're not careful. Think we pay a fiver extra per panel for edges bevelling too so again not much. That panel should take two guys, (one to hold the glass, one to do the fixings) about 10-20 mins to replace without any prior experience. Hopefully you'll sleep better tonight. Hardest part of the job is transporting it to site as you tend to drive very carefully and defensively.
  18. Your guess is absolutely miles out mate. I install glass for a major company and most places will do that size for around £60-90. Toughened/ laminated with bevelled edges. Pre drilled provided you detail where you want holes. Average turnaround is two weeks. We paid £60 for these panels. Roughly a meter long and all predrilled. Just pay for it rather than claim.
  19. Not much there Dean, where's that? Looks a bit like Fartown medical centre? Was trying to get over Castle hill earlier today. NO chance. 4 foot drifts covering the road. A local farmer was up there clearing the road. Got through eventually when he had cleared it to one lane. No access to Farnley mind. Completely blocked by drifts. Been a fun day 'playing' out. Towed a green flag transit van out of B&Q car park earlier as he sat polishing the snow.
  20. Swinny, do you mind me asking who you use local? Most of my work is based near Gisburn and I use a local company in Clitheroe. Great service, able to try goods on (clothing) and handle gear prior to buying and good on pricing compared to online once postage is added. Pm if preferred.
  21. Light a fag off it? I'd have a basic frame made to warm a pie and pan of water for a cuppa for lunch off it.
  22. Stihl size pants very bizarrely. I had the same issue. Ordered a 34" waist and couldn't get them above my thighs. Returned them and went and got two sizes bigger just to get them to fit and they are still a tad tight on hot days. You really need to try stihl pants on before ordering.
  23. Cracking pup and pictures.... Couldn't help but add some text to one of you pics....
