  1. Basic set of chisels to start with but dont go for the cheap ones, Record are ok to start with moving on to Hamlet,Crown and Robert Sorby. CL3 should come with a drive spur and tail centre for spindle turning. If you're doing bowls you will need a face plate or chuck or both.Thread size for CL3 is 3/4 x 16. Look in firewood pile before you buy any decent blanks, split logs can make good bowls.
  2. The mercury fuse you mention is a flow switch, there will be some terminals at the bottom of this and when the mercury touches these the circuit is made, try turning this at different angles to see if this cures it.
  3. Try Bradshaw groundcare they are on here and about 3 miles from Halifax centre
  4. Have you enough oil in the system? Same problem would be caused by airlock on the return stoke, crack the joint to see if oil or air escapes.
  5. Be careful when soldering the new switch on, its not just a on/off switch, it has components on it that can easily be damaged by too much heat.
  6. Its only doing what it says its doing ie Cleaning, deleting cache and temporary files.
  7. Not the best looking wood but should be dry, does turn up nice though

  9. Got a few large pieces that have been sitting in the garage a year or 2, not branch wood but parts from an 18" dia stump.
  10. Spray gooseberrys with 10% washing up liquid 90% water did this to mine last year and had no sawfly this year. Had first crop for a few years this time

  22. To get the heat upstairs cut a vent in the ceiling above the stove, then make a box around the vent opening beneath the upstairs floorboards and add another vent where you want the hot air to come out, did this with mine and it keeps upstairs very warm.

  24. I'm building up a fair stock of turning wood and don't want any getting woodworm. What's the best way to prevent woodworm ?
  25. Try a carbide tipped cutter, there will be more dust,but it will cut a hell of alot faster.
