  1. " The walking dead" is good.( imo) You have to get over the zombies. I try to explain its not about zombies, but more about how people deal with the world going to muck. (Free on prime until about series 5 I think)
  2. Sorry, I should have said it's vertical feed rollers. Brash doesn't usually catch the lumps which are on the side and behind one of the rollers. Bigger logs just cause it to jam.
  3. Our tp chipper has started to return small lumps of wood, which then cause the feed rollers to jam. Is this the same issue, it is on beech with no leaves. Do I need to teach the guys how to chicken dance
  4. A good physio should be able to help, and show you how to manage the situation yourself. It doesnt make it go away, but you can relieve the stress points, with massage/manipulation in the right place.
  5. What gets my goat, is that you get the reminder thru the post, so you think, I'll do that now while I remember , then you can't do as its too far in advance. Then the letter goes to bottom of pile and forgotten about until it's too late....
  6. The result of late winter storms 2016.
  7. Just wondering if anyone has contracts to cut grass within the solar sites. I do three sites totalling 21mw. One has wild flowers- nightmare and quite woody to cut. One has sheep- and is over run with nettles, but fairly easy to cut with strimmer One is mainly grass and has been hell to cut this year as it thick as hell. I find the constant changing of companies quite trying, never quite sure who and what part they play. But on the whole it's not bad work, and for me makes a change from farming/estate work.
  8. Not a single song, but I am really into the "walking dead playlist" on Spotify (Also really enjoy watching the walking dead - bring it on Negan....)
  9. Tbh I couldn't tell you the weight. But fairly certain I've failed to lift a log , with the screw remaining in the wood, with no damage to the screw ( that I know of ATM) I would only lift with a vertical screw.
  10. I have a lasco cone splitter on a 2.7 ton digger. Can't remember which one, but not the biggest that's recommended for that size of digger. Regretfully I didn't get one with a replaceable tip. The tip has had to have a few touch ups with the grinder, and won't last for ever. I am dreading the day I have to buy a new cone. Flow rate is important. If the digger can't lift the log- the chances are, that its not worth the time spent trying to split it. (but if time/efficiency isn't important- it will break down a fair chunk, with a bit of help from a saw) Small ringed up type wood is a pain, as it tends to spin around a lot. I find about 3 to 4 foot long is about right length I split to billets- then cut and split again using hakki pikke eagle. The logs do tend to be quite splintery (especially oak). And you do get a lot of waste- small bits- but perfect for kindling. A lot of my wood is oak limbs that have come off, and the cone is great as it breaks them all to lift able sizes
  11. I have no experience in this field, but it's possible your body is low/ deficient of something, And it's possible that " a naturopath" (spelling may be way out,) might be able to help.
  12. Instead of all the negative rubbish, How about- real life situation, that appears to have tested the action plans of all involved, and it appears to me to have been a great success, a quick calm evac etc A great show of our emergency services ( and stadium staff )
  13. Global commodities are all taking a hit, coal, beef, energy, timber, steel. Global slow down I guess.
  14. In my opinon- stealing is wrong, wall street banker or old greezer could have been your old nans neckless
  15. My autumn garden clearance
  16. I have a pair of husqi ones. Radio is great and with good batteries lasts ages. It has mp3 socket. The volume from mp3 is less than the radio, and can be hard to hear with the louder machines running. You can have your phone connected and it will cut out the radio to let you know it's ringing.
  17. Just re discovered leftfeild , leftism. Ture awesomeness
  18. Not a bad experience, just 10yrs down the line I still have a stack of milled planks that have been moved from pillar to post.
  19. If you don't have a use for the milled wood- gets shot of it- either as firewood or whole. Milling is great- but for the next five or so years you'll be tripping over a stack of planks, they will always be in the way, they will never be quite the size you want, and when you do find a use for them- they will be either warped, or soo hard you'll wish you had done the job when they were green. P.s WTS stack of warpped- twisted, 10 yr old DRY Oak- enough to make a big kitchen table...........
  20. I am impressed with the new shadow defra minster... I am sure they are gonna support British farmers....
  21. Managed to get the holes done with drills and chisel, didn't turn out too bad. Luckily the rails fill the holes, so it covers the rough bits
  22. I expect my union to be close to the people who make up the rules that effect me. I want them to be in constant touch.
  23. Oh come on,,, Surely having the Farmers union close to the governmental body that regulates farming, makes sense.
