  1. I've no idea what these limiters are like...pic????...in the past I've used a piece of hacksaw blade to cut the plastic and pliers to pick them off bit by bit.(on other carbs not this one)
  2. Getting those adjusters off and re-tuning the carb would be my no:1 port of call. Not sure how thoroughly you cleaned carb when you changed dias and gaskets???
  3. Is your recoil pulling technique as effective as ever? Somebody once swore to me his mower wouldn't start - the issue was..HE couldn't start his mower - couldn't get a decent spin and spark. I know this is off the diagnostic trail but what's the multimeter telling you about your biceps? 👍
  4. Could you spell that out for dummies pls. What exactly are you looking for and where does it point you?Cheers. I tend to relate colour to fuel air mix??
  5. Hows the connection under/between the plug cap and the HT lead? Dealt with several where the pin has pulled partially out of the lead weakening or making the spark erratic. This wouldnt have caused a backfire but could explain the weak spark.Personally I stick to NGK.
  6. Never knew that! Nice one Barrie.
  7. If its the ignition coil youve replaced what happens sparkwise if you pull it over with kill wire removed from coil?
  8. Is that the tecumseh engine?
  9. Check the valve clearance specs in the engine manual then adjust with a feeler gauge
  10. Starter for 10.Valve adjustments.
  11. Elimination is probably only way to go from now.For info batteries can fail suddenly especially over 3-4 years old.
  12. Battery could have completely failed. Can you substitute a known good battery to eliminate that possibility?
  13. I order mine (along with my climbing ropes, parachutes and shark cages) direct from the Cheapingbitsing factory in the PRC.Apart from a few minor hospitalisations I'm 100% satisfied.
  14. A tenner for a solenoid Felix. This is what they look like.
  15. The easiest.Either through the spark plug hole with a spark plug i modified or carb side with a diy blanking / pumping plate depending on access.
  16. Have you checked the state of the battery? Maybe it wasn't charging properly?
  17. Did the solenoid click/engage when you switched all the way on? Can you test the solenoid?
  18. Thanks Barrie
  19. Solenoid not functioning. Took it apart and resoldered what looked like a weak contact between winding wire and the external energising post.Cleaned internal components and grounding bracket. Still getting extremely low voltage reading across the large copper posts when energised with 12v battery although a continuity test across the posts when energised gives a good continuity beep. It is stamped 1984 -should I throw in the towel with this one?
  20. Thanks Barrie. The alternator PDF looks really useful.
  21. Sit on wiring colour protocol ? Is there one or is it different for each manufacturer ? Also apparently there should be a rectifier diode on the red wire from the alternator??? Mine doesn't have one ' just a frayed end. Is it critical? Can it be bought aftermarket? What amp grade of wire to use?
  22. Did you use any elements of the 'gasket kit' that the oil seals came with?Sounds a little odd?

  24. If you take the caps off theres probably a screw head under. If not cut flat heads with a dremel or hacksaw blade. Sent from my SM-N9005 using Arbtalk mobile app
