  1. I know this is a bit of an old one now but looking at this service manual came across a manometer test for crankcase pressure - that's a new one on me.
  2. Cheers barrie.on a chinese one i made a pigs ear of getting the resin out and damaged the little screw Sent from my GT-N7000 using Arbtalk mobile app
  3. Any idea how to to tune these (at idle or WOT) and how to get to the little screw? Sent from my GT-N7000 using Arbtalk mobile app
  4. A.why are these replacing the h l carbs on so much stuff? Are they better in some way? B. When you finally get to the little brass screw buried under the resin what's the correct tuning procedure? C.They used to have little plugs to pop out covering the screw. How do you get that powdery resin out? Any tips for these carbs? Am finding them mostly on low end domestic stuff and often poorly factory set (for running). Cheers folks. Sent from my GT-N7000 using Arbtalk mobile app
  5. Re this above:.basic check...is the carb screwed on tightly?any loosening of nuts/machine screws will let air in and compromise impulse suction.similarly with any engine casing screws bolts if you can reach them double check theyre tight. Sent from my GT-N7000 using Arbtalk mobile app
  6. Its a general interest really and i have a lovely shindaiwa strimmer with a broken carb that id like to sort sometime. hutzl seems to have biggest selection on ebay.who else do you use Sent from my GT-N7000 using Arbtalk mobile app

  9. Curious about chinese carbs wise.the cost of a set of dias/gaskets can be more than chinese carb from what i remember.where do you buy and do you have a reference table for ie walbro or zama to chink.cheers. Sent from my GT-N7000 using Arbtalk mobile app
  10. Cheers eddie Sent from my GT-N7000 using Arbtalk mobile app
  11. Cheers man Sent from my GT-N7000 using Arbtalk mobile app
  12. Ive got the sealey and for most of what i do its way out of the range -too high.have just invested in a circa 2-24 nm/ft ilbs??(cant remember).anyway its more in the range of small engine work. Sent from my GT-N7000 using Arbtalk mobile app
  13. thanks a lot Barrie. Question answered. Good brake spring tool tip vid btw
  14. Hi Barrie - cheers i can modify the tray to suit - its just that 24Ah upwards which are advertised as sit on batteries all seem around 35-40 quid mark. toolstation do a 12Ah 12 volt for 28 quid - i'm not sure how you measure cranking power in a battery and whether there would be enough oomph in such a battery
  15. Can anybody tell me a basic spec for a sit on 12v battery that'll electric start a briggs 11hp on an mtd. Is there a formula/ratio/connection between Ah's and engine size/hp for the future? Cheers. Sent from my GT-N7000 using Arbtalk mobile app
  16. Have you checked the plugs during these failed hot restarts? Are they wet with petrol/flooded?
  17. Thanks for that barrie.think i,m gonna invest in a ld tester now.cheers. Sent from my GT-N7000 using Arbtalk mobile app
  18. Barrie if you want to be in contention for next years oscars you've gotta keep your production team together and working. Think big Anyway thanks again.didnt realise about locking the blade - how do you do it with blade attached? Ps had an engine on the kitchen table last night for a bit of valve removal practise. Have gone from 2 hrs on sunday to 3 minutes out and in this morning.much appreciated. Sent from my GT-N7000 using Arbtalk mobile app
  19. LEAKDOWN TESTING Who does it? What tool do you use?Technique? How can you find TDC on a mower to ensure valves are closed without removing the head? Do you focus more on what the dial says or what you can hear coming from the mower? Would this technique flag up a failing crank shaft oil seal? Before the oil starts to leak. Don't want to push my luck with Barrie but he sure makes a good vid tutorial. Sent from my GT-N7000 using Arbtalk mobile app
  20. Just read this. All the best rich:thumbup: Sent from my GT-N7000 using Arbtalk mobile app
  21. Could you grind a slot into the heads and then use a big flat head driver. My fave tool for stuck bolts plastic head or steel are a pair of knipex end cutters. i dig the sharp corners in and then grip and turn at a radius to the head with lots of leverage. 22. Nice job.quality:thumbup: Sent from my GT-N7000 using Arbtalk mobile app
  23. You mean the notch on the outside edge of the cap should be facing out of the box? Sent from my GT-N7000 using Arbtalk mobile app
  24. That's really helpful barrie.the notch on the cap i remember from the last briggs valve fumbling job. The tecumseh caps had no notch so will need to mark them and follow your method. I'd like to see how you remove them too Some time- if you're not too busy with the BAFTAs:) Much much appreciated. Sent from my GT-N7000 using Arbtalk mobile app
  25. Cheers rich.have seen that done with cars.never get a socket or hammer in the valve spring case which is about as big as a matchbox on these engines. Sent from my GT-N7000 using Arbtalk mobile app
