  4. that was poor welding on the Westwood - pity when we're in the habit of knocking the Chinese. What's that tractor second from the right Barrie? - love it!
  5. Merry Tiller.unseized the engine.now looking at carb - this is an aspera engine (tecumseh??).fuel line into carb seems to be missing a screw?pin? Anybody know what carb that is?
  6. That makes sense barrie. This is a labour of love, yep gobsmacked at how long it took.am not sure of the mtd model no: its a briggs 11hp engine but at a guess do you think a new deck would even be available?
  7. Excellent wise.didnt understand what grinder you used and how?
  8. MTD ride on.-personal bring back from the dead project.deck off de-rusted and primed.welding 2mm steel sheet over holed areas.new to mig welding. Using. 6mm wire-not sure if. 8mm wire would be better.deck is 2mm patch is 2mm.would you use 2mm or a thinner gauge? Would you patch on top like me or cut out and drop new in (harder to do i imagine) .any deck welding tips?
  9. thanks a lot Bob - contacted them and they're going to get back to me - part no: MSP-962900024.3 called a radial ring on their diagram. cheers
  10. me again - seal arrived - fitted it 12x32x7 - bit of grease on the lip and even a dab of hylomar on the outer edge. as soon as the crank turns the seal also spins? and leaks air around the outside edge when pressure tested. looked online for a bigger diameter - 12 x 33 x7 - doesn't seem to exist? - as i was putting it in i noticed that where it would seat there was like a large thin washer that would also turn - didn't pay much attention to that - not sure of it's purpose. The only other seal i've done was on a TS350 cut off saw and the seal clearly had a metal 'frame/body' that was tapped in snug with a socket - that all worked brill. I'm not sure how without that almost bendy metal exterior it would ever seal??
  11. This is EXCELLENT Barrie - long overdue - only just seen this - been off for a while - really looking forward to reading and contributing to the thread- good luck and cheers!!!
  12. With or without the top dead centre hylomar welch plugs?
  13. Cheers barrie.next week it'll be starter pawls or something equally exciting ( for me:) ).am self taught /self teaching and really do appreciate the support that you and co. give. Cheers.
  14. Cheers egg. Do you know the significance of double or single lip seals??
  15. Think the mix will be the least of your worries with that saw. I'd swap it soon for something else.mechanically / construction wise quite poor.
  16. Bump. Anybody know if you Can just buy a seal of the correct dimensions and it will work? cheers. Because generic seal and bearing suppliers seem much cheaper.
  17. Cheers spud
  18. Muffler Mods Sorry if this is obvious - basic questions 1. if you're brazing in an exhaust tube are you doing this simply to direct flow away from other components not possible with just a hole? 2. what the best technique for making the hole in the muffler to take the tube and presumably you want the inside joint surfaces to be flush with the new tube? cheers
  19. Havent done one yet but have several engines that run beautifully with points. Nova are the modules i've seen used in a few you tube conversion vids. Billsmowers on here has done a few i think.
  20. Thanks all. Have learnt something about seal dimensions - does this mean that any seal with those dimensions (and several ebay sellers do them) will function properly? What's the business about double lip? metal bodies? r23 r21 etc made me more inclined to open up an ancient partner saw too - if i can read the dimensions on the seal i can replace it? right? THANKS ALL
  21. Leaking recoil side crank seal.part no:962 900 060.cant seem to find a uk supplier?any help appreciated.thanks.its a heavy duty strimmer.
  22. Husky 36 oiler worm gear removal. How can i get this off without the husky special puller which threads on then you screw a bolt down against clutch side crank.home made tool?.cheers
  23. And there are basically 3 types of port? Transfer ports (moving the fuel mix up and down?) and the intake and exhaust ports?
  24. Looking forward to getting stuck in to this thread. Excellent move to split it.much appreciated spud.
