  1. I really think there should be a big consumer push on 'mystery shopping' -i.e sending s standard fragile item through several courier companies to see what arrives. Couriering is medieval compared to 21st century online shopping. The safest handler would get my business for sure.Ir's something I now ask when I buy.
  2. Nice one what power source did you use slim?
  3. O dear. I"ll miss their service. Good company to deal with.
  4. If Disney ever do 'Mower Story' this is where the inspiration will come from. Have you heard them talk at night? 👍
  5. Anybody know what's going on with them?
  6. Thanks Amf.Will sort the spring out -good to know about the repair.Cheers. What can I say Barrie - baaaa, pass the mint sauce👍👍
  7. Is this happening because the splines on the recoil rope holder seem to be worn down? Is there a way to repair this.Get a pointed burr in the splines? Cant quite get my head round what exactly happens when the recoil is pulled??
  8. Done! Repaired HT lead and new ignition module. Great spark and fired up-after I grounded the module. The spark tells me the coil must have been ok - so issue must have been points or condenser? Points I'd cleaned and filed although gap size was a guess. Is there a test for a condenser? Cheers 2 B's.
  9. Sorry if I'm being a bit dumb.Never done one of these and instructions not very helpful.Cant figure out how the connection is made with the grey cap thing? It has a threaded inside.
  10. Thanks Barrie and cheers for the vid and info Bill - looks like a useful tool. I have one of those sic/atom units. I"ll give it a go as at present I have nothing to lose. Much aprreciated.
  11. Tried with the plug in ice cream cone light type thing and with the jump the gap type thing in the little plastic window and grounding plug to cylinder. Will get spark if i hold lead to body but nothing if plug attached.Like I said strong shock if i hold lead and pull over even slowly. I"ll have to research a kv tester.
  12. Be good to see a vid of how you use that👍
  13. Nice one, thank you.Went for crimped and soldered on spade connectors and several layers of shrink wrap.Different prob now- barely a spark. Cleaned points. It's odd - gives me a real real strong belt if I pull it over and touch the plug connector but no spark with plug.
  14. Apart from what Barrie said which I agree with my first thought on pulling the 'Champion' plug was that it looked fishy. I thought it was a fake - something about the lettering didn't look quite right. Apparently there are plenty of fake NGKs on eeebay.
  15. OK maybe it was a misfire not a backfire I'll have to get to grips with the difference . Anyway I changed the sparkplug from a QJ 19LM to a new BR2LM and it's firing smoothly . Cheers Barrie
  16. Cheers Barrie. Learnt something there.
  17. How did I know that was coming? Lambs to the slaughter 😀😀 Ok cheers for that Barrie - a bit more to go on.
  18. Strimmer running erratically and dying. Flushed fuel tank out - full of jelly like gunk.Wonder if somebody added motor oil. Cleaned out, new fuel line and filter -still running ropey.Opened carb not surprised it was struggling with this jelly blocking the filter.
  19. General question. What are the likely causes of a mower backfiring. SV150 flat head engine on a cheap b &qish mower. Timing? Had the flywheel off - key is fine. Could carb play a role?
  20. +1 on that.God knows why we gamble on THE most important stuff Did it again yesterday.
  21. Blimey the Hayters look immaculate
  22. Thanks Barrie. On order - will give that a whirl.Appreciated. ps not sure what the woodscrew trick is?? Take the head off and sharpen so it's like 2 pointed ends? Then screw in both ht leads to make the join?;cheers.
