Hi Barrie - cheers i can modify the tray to suit - its just that 24Ah upwards which are advertised as sit on batteries all seem around 35-40 quid mark. toolstation do a 12Ah 12 volt for 28 quid - i'm not sure how you measure cranking power in a battery and whether there would be enough oomph in such a battery

Have you checked the plugs during these failed hot restarts? Are they wet with petrol/flooded?

Barrie if you want to be in contention for next years oscars you've gotta keep your production team together and working. Think big Anyway thanks again.didnt realise about locking the blade - how do you do it with blade attached? Ps had an engine on the kitchen table last night for a bit of valve removal practise. LEAKDOWN TESTING Who does it? What tool do you use?Technique? How can you find TDC on a mower to ensure valves are closed without removing the head? Do you focus more on what the dial says or what you can hear coming from the mower? Would this technique flag up a failing crank shaft oil seal? Before the oil starts to leak. Could you grind a slot into the heads and then use a big flat head driver. My fave tool for stuck bolts plastic head or steel are a pair of knipex end cutters. i dig the sharp corners in and then grip and turn at a radius to the head with lots of leverage. That's really helpful barrie.the notch on the cap i remember from the last briggs valve fumbling job. The tecumseh caps had no notch so will need to mark them and follow your method. Video request for Barrie (or tips for use) . Use of Briggs valve spring compressor tool. Spent best part of 2 hrs yesterday trying to remove and re-install the valves on a Tecumseh HS40 horizontal. There's obviously a knack for using these things (or alternative) which i don't have yet. do you compress just spring? spring and 1 or 2 of the end caps? grrr. any home made better tools anyone? cheers

Say I know the Husky ref is 530-019170 for a crank seal. How can I find out (without taking any saw apart) what the size is from the part no:? Are there any on line 'converters'. Makita IPLs seem to include the dimensions for things. cheers
