  1. I'm not comparing the two, I'm stating both are illegal (one only in the work place) but for those who take a moral high ground against one whilst doing the other, it's hypocritical to pass judgement in such a negative way as to label people, when they are just as guilty of committing an offence, regardless of if the type of offence is a world apart. 2. No, but if you're gonna take a moral high ground on something don't contradict yourself, as for importing and porting, both contravene PUWER, therefore making their use in the work place illegal, I should know, all but 1 saw is modified or unbraked. Drugs are bad, and a definite NO in any work place (this includes alcohol), especially when operating machinery, but to call all users scum and thieves is over the top. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  3. Terry pratchet or j r r Tolkien, have read all but the two newest discworld novels, and have read all tolkiens main books at least once, silmarillion being the hardest read! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  4. I wasn't complaining about the forum, but you always get the few who immediately take a moral high ground and everything else is wrong or illegal, but then on the next thread they're importing and porting chainsaws for work, if you understand what I mean Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  5. Just a little suggestion, buy a tin of coppaslip, stops the bolts seizing, then bladder on wd40 when removing Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  6. Yeah done by a local bloke with a plasma cutter, even managed the oil holes! I just tidied it up with a dremel grind stone to remove the crappy edges, loads of sparks, my work area looked like a firework display! Yeah, you could say an excavator is nearly a saw, it has a chain (tracks) but if you do lose a finger you'll have to develop a really good West Country accent! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. I'm with Alec on this one, your gonna be spinning very sharp bits of metal very quickly, you want hardened bolts, surely there's a fixtures and fastenings place near to where you live? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. Anyway, actually returning to chainsaws! Did the starter cord on the 051, what a PITA, whole assembly needs taking off to fit, and it's a pig to relocate the rewind spring, then you've got to relocate 2 washers, the friction shoes, two more washers, then a spring, another washer then the smallest e-clip I've ever seen. 090 was cutting like a bag of shi.. checked chain, all sharp, checked depth gauges - untouched, so filed them down, and big bar is finally back! need to get a chain after pay day! 9. Windscreen seal Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. Unfortunately with this forum, anyone who has an open mind is wrong! It's getting more and more soap box, if someone new asks about saws, PPE subjects are rammed down their throats, if someone makes a joke, 50% of the users find it offensive. As the forum rules state, don't criticise it unless you've tried it, that can apply for our equipment or anything else that gets mentioned on here! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  11. 'Worlds strongest redneck' he's done a few videos of using various machines to cut a hedge, also search mower on a stick for other videos Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  12. Haha some strong stuff there stubby, no wonder you had that effect Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  13. When have a good many things been legal? You imported your dolmar from the US or Germany didn't you? I think that's covered somewhere under PUWER isn't it? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. Most things make you laugh max but it's a pretty funny ad, I assume he's selling a chinker Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. Yes, that's the ring type starter with the friction shoes, as for aspen, I run my 090, 051, 150t, 200t, hs45, ht75, weedeater blower, and every husky on it, the huskys were designed for aspen, and the A/T carbs run perfect on it Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  16. Not much, £50-100, as for rebuilding it, tilt the saw onto the clutch side if you're removing the cylinder or the big end rollers will fall out, then it's a full strip down to get them back in! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. Just seen one of these in action, beast of a machine! http://www.tempestindustries.co.uk/videos/ Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  18. Nah, apparently they don't wanna pay the £30k to have it relicenced for another few years, that how a lot get banned Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  19. I wouldn't have a problem if they made the parts available in this country, such as the flywheel side seal for the 051 (every other part is available), or the lower AV mount for the 090, silly little things that shouldn't be over-looked when all the other parts are available! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  20. Value for money? No! But an extra £50 could buy a few chains or a new bar, but all of us are guilty of trying to get a better saw for less money, I was just using those as an example where the budget for equipment is negligable Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  21. Was looking for this the other day! Germany should just send them a couple of crates of 090's as aid for the typhoon, soon have the place rebuilt Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. Orange = points White = electronic On the oranges, quickstop chainbrakes were optional, whites were non optional, you got it as standard Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  23. Applying the policy to the consumables and parts is where my main gripe is, why do I need to go to my dealer to be told how to fit a part on something a) they know nothing about, b) they can't work on (as there is no chain brake) and c) they don't have the ability to obtain parts for! As for oil, you gotta be real thick if the dealer has to explain that one! Saws, I agree, but in the case of charitable organisations or governmental bodies such as the rspb, natural England or the wildlife trust, the budgets are on a shoe string, so need the cheapest deal possible, which a local dealer may not offer, either because they're a sub dealer or they just don't want to, after all, they have us all by the balls now regarding stihl products Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  24. You're correct, I am mistaken, the 210 is the same crank as the 230 & 250, the 211 shares the 171/181 crank Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  25. I agree 100%, I just find it frustrating that stihl has adopted this policy but then makes certain parts unavailable in certain countries, it seems counter productive to restrict the market of their equipment and then restrict the parts support further Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
