  1. Where did you get it stubby? I need something similar for my 385 Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. If you're going to do that, why not go with a rim sprocket set-up? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  3. Could also be the coil breaking down, so check the plug for a spark too, had that with a 335xpt Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  4. Looks like it needs the big D009 type mount for the studs, what's the diameter of the clutch drum and crankshaft pto side where it enters the bearing for the sprocket Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  5. Today involved servicing a back-pack blower, hedgecutters and modding my 385 to take a 36" stihl bar (off a 660). Then I tripped over and gashed my neck on the 5' bar on the 090 whilst rushing around in the rain, luckily it hasn't had a chain made yet! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  6. And yet so many people like these old stihl saws, niko, but then again the 070/090 is no lightweight. It's a 56cc topper, so it'll pull a 21" bar (stihl only do 15, 17, 21 and up). Most are on points, but they bought out electronic ignition and a chainbrake on the later models Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. Yes mrs b, you're a senior member now, and already better than Steve! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. You not got anywhere with that 070 then? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  9. The cs32 course incorporates cs33 now, 3 days training and 1 day assessment Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. It's been that for at least 4 years Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  11. Sounds like an air leak Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  12. Oregon do a book that lists saw manufacturer, model, chain options and what order numbers they are Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  13. Out of interest, why not just put the .404 sprocket, chain and bar on it? Save faffing around trying to find a chain that hasn't been made since the 70's? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. No worries yours definitely wouldn't be allowed stubby Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. Yes, yes, I'm aware of that, but what if he has a saw with no spark mesh? Does that mean he couldn't use a 372-3120 or an ms880 on site? Or would he have to order USA mufflers? Or would they overlook them? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  16. What if the saw doesn't have a spark mesh? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. That's the granberg mill in operation with an 090 (it's rob d actually), whilst you can't see the dust, it actually builds up quite badly. The ally box rails help to push it out of the way. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  18. Yes, it will be fine Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  19. Chain pitch x number of teeth on sprocket x (rpm / 60) = chain speed (inches/second) (Inches/second x 2.54) / 100 = speed m/s Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

    Oregon chain

Used to supply stihl too, many old posters refer to the 'superior Oregon chain' Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  21. That good advice comes with experience, happened on my saw last summer, noticed all of the ones at work had split yesterday Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. Part number is 00006421240 for 3/8picco 7t rim Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  23. Easiest way to check is look in the holes by the plug, if it's got a big screw in the top hole it's an 051, if it's in the right hole, it's an 075 Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  24. Wiseco, you're a jammy sod! The bar mounts are the difference, otherwise those top ends will slot happily, so you'll have a 13" bar on a 75cc saw! Or you could order the stihl 3/8p rim, drop the bar to 12". Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  25. Turn the oiler up, if you don't when you swap the rim, the excess heat from the chain speed friction will heat the bar, causing the rubber oil gallery to warp and split Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
