  1. sounds heavy... i may have found a bigger one though, 1.5m wide and 7.6m long, roughly 11tons...
  2. me too (proper copper though) what you got against us wiley???
  3. teach them how to tie this one and then tell them to use it if they bugger it up again... .
  4. was that my beech perchance jon???
  5. am i the only one thinking that this could have been used in the slaughter house rather than for any form of forestry???
  6. has the coloured heart of the tree gone soft and punky or is it still good hard wood?
  7. the bark is a bit unusual as i have only experience gleditsia as a more broken up and cracked surface but i have to agree that the leaves are a spot on match. are there any pods on the tree or ground?
  8. looks like a prunus of some sort from the bark???
  9. the nest was a ton but bigger ones would be more as that walnut is sooooooooo stunning...
  10. looks like dead meat to me mate...
  11. could it be a zelkova?
  12. i'm in maidenhead but i'm happy to get a local bandmiller to cut it to size and then get it to me. what's your number?
  13. i had a miller contact in wales so i'll check se where he was. what sort of sizes and length are they?
  14. how long are the rings jon?
  15. here is a close up of the inset disc. it's 40mm wide.
  16. thanks james...
  17. could be good mate, what diameter we talking here?
  18. the balls are turned on a jig which you can see in operation on this video. the stamp you are referring to is not a stamp as such but a disc of birch ply with my website lasered on to it. i recess it into the end of one of my pins just so if a visiting team like what they see they know who to call. it's sealed in with 1-2mm of super glue which i just pool on top of it and let it set. i can put you in touch with the guy who made them for me if you like.
  19. i need sycamore to be milled within a couple of weeks of it being felled. if your rings are 15" along the grain by whatever diameter the tree was and you can cut them up for me then i may be interested... i could use that for 6" pins in theory?
  20. sorry jon but i need fairly freshly felled and milled timber.
  21. still quite busy with my skittles and balls and have done quite a varied batch recently. .
  22. i still need some sycamore cut this year guys as none of the leads have been what i need as yet. if anyone can fulfill my requests as in the first post on this thread then please get in touch ASAP.
  23. here is another nest i did for a customer recently and i love the way the colour changes when placed in sunlight... .
  24. biggest bit i've had was about 10"-12" and around 3' long but it splits like hell so most of it was not suitable for turning in the end.
  25. here's a few more from me over the past week or so. woods include Ipe, genuine lignum, raintree, albizia, movingui and the last two are a big 18" english walnut that i sold for £100 .
