  1. Mitsubishi L200, 2.5 TD, the dogs B*ll***s, back end pick up/cab, front & rear tow bars, big power, excellent design/parts availability, easy on the diesel, towing power-phenominal, turbos last a life time, go anywhere motor, good luck...Nick Pearson, Timberline-Roe Ltd.
  2. Which channel is Jimmys wood on and get I view previous episodes on youtube/web ?, thanks...Nick.
  3. Picked up some lovely quality old sheffield files at 10p each-steel is excellent for knife making, had some brikabrak over the years, oh not forgetting a smashing pair of V necked yellow socks...LOL.
  4. As a last resort you could always contact your local allotment associations-the gardeners are always screaming for woodchip for paths and muddy areas, they will have access to a multitude of vehicles and may decend "en mass" with trailers and the like, they might not get rid of it all but may lighten your load. Then therevare the equestrian centres etc. Hope you get things sorted, regards...Nick Pearson, Timberline-Roe Ltd.
  5. Getting fed up with it now, hope its sorted soon...Nick.
  6. Yep, my 03 eml keeps coming on, and when it does the engine flutters a little and loses power, sometimes it goes out and at other times I turn off the engine then re start and everything is fine, I plan on getting it sorted-living in fear its not the turbo on its way out, about 2k worth, hope you get things fixed ok...Nick Pearson, Timberline-Roe Ltd.
  7. Very interesting but will no doubt be very expensive initally just like everything else. I recall the first commercially available DVD players, cost about £150 when they first came out, now you can pick up a brand new one that covers all regions for £25. A big positive all the same...Nick.
  8. Many years ago during marines basic training we had to go 30 ft up vertical ropes as fast as possible, some of us, myself included burst blood vessels , the medical officer said it was quit common due to the strain placed upon the body etc. Although I dont have a problem climbing and I am now 50 my advice would be to slow down, and ideally use a system where you are not required to exert too much effort. Best of luck anyway...Nick Pearson, Timberlineline-Roe Ltd.
  9. Lets just pretend the TPO for a drop goes ahead and the client/customer is in a good position to pay whatever the eventual bill would be. Beech is a heavy wood and I have been offered £30 per ton including the firewood man picking up the wood from the site. Have been informed that £30 is far too cheap and that I could double my money elsewhere. What is the average sale price to firwood merchants of unseasoned beech /hardwood per ton ???, this should be fun...Nick.
  10. True words of experience-priceless, am starting to veer towards the husky big saws as opposed to the 66/880 stihls. Is it me or do stihls saws in general sound slower than huskys. Watched numerous clips on the tube as well as using several of each brand-my new 346 xp is the dogs b******s-am so impressed, as well with my 365 special-I suppose I am just waiting to be nudged a little further -funds permitting...Nick.

    Road Trip

Hope the chipper gets sorted Hodge, enjoy your day...Nick.
  12. I would help out but live many miles away-good luck with the job anyway...Nick.
  13. Sorry-what you want to be pierced for anyway, gets snagged, ripped by agro merchants, risks of infection, and can cost a packet, get some stay ups and suspenders-at least you can wear them concealed ha ha.
  14. Is the neghibour nice-if so, reduce the trees yourself on the promise that she subscribes to at least 6 adult sky channels and that she will invite you in for "tea & scones"...Nick.
  15. Barry-on a serious note do please try and get these vests brought into the uk-they will sell like hotcakes I am sure. I checked loads of websites here in the UK and not a sausage. To the impressionable public the vest does look good and really does stand out, please update this thread with your findings-if successful I will order several from you as soon as they are available. I got the large size which is just about right, I am 5 ft 10" tall and weigh 11 1/4 stone, fits great and actually comes down to the waistline and is a little shorter than the normal hi viz vests available here, regards...Nick.
  16. I recently bought this vest and the equivalent in red/orange, the surveyors vest is very good quality, the cast in "goldrush" on sky all wear this surveyors vest. 2 x vests and a quality pair of socks I ordered from Baileye online-cost something like £40, then there was the customs charge at this end which was around £15, that is a lot of money howeve:r the quality and look really stands out, to me better than the hi viz vests available here, I was a little flush at the time and treated myself, regards...Nick Pearson, Timberline-Roe Ltd.
  17. Tell me moreabout the husky 395 then ???
  18. Hi, I am in the market for a large saw. Firstly it would be used for dropping large/big trees and then dismantling etc. Also I am considering an alaskan mill which the saw would be used for slabbing etc. It would obviously need be be in excess of 100cc and a real workhorse. I have to some degree narrowed things down to either a stihl 880 or a huqvarna 3120, both being the largest saws from two of the main players in the chainsaw industry. I know there is a price difference of arond £3 to £400 between the sthil and the husky brand new. I was hoping that members could advise on the good and bad points of very large saws, the pros and cons, and their personal reccomendations based on their experiences. I must make an informed decision and fast, I know they are a chunk of money and would like to think my decision was the correct one, thanks for your help, regards...Nick Pearson, Timberline-Roe Ltd.
  19. If your quick-there is a decent stihl 880 on ebay just now(note sure about the bar length though)and of course any ripping chain-good luck...Nick, Timberline-Roe Ltd.
  20. Yes-it may be that I will need to get another busines(s) involved...lots of work, would be excellent footage- ground work, tree work, chipping, bucking the lot, we will see...Nick.
  21. Hi Ant, if you are really stuck I can travel from Sunderland, have a transit tipper, t-wolf tracked 150 chipper, saws, ropes and tickets-tel 0191-5282554, best of luck...Nick.
  22. Good luck and sucess with your new venture mark...Nick Pearson, Timberline-Roe Ltd.
  23. I have, but I wouldnt have a clue as to how to upload them-I barely manage with this bloody laptop. I would love to use a crane but the access is on a mega slope, possibly an enormous crane could be used but we would be looking at a definate road closure-which would be even more expense to the client. In truth I very much doubt the tree office would validate any takedown-but we live in hope,I will update the thread with any results...Nick.
  24. Yes Rich you are right, I am, as stated previously the job is a daunting one, but I am sure most of us recall their first big tree, thanks all the same...Nick.
