  2. Hi all, am in the market for a very long/quality pole saw(not a combi system etc). Was at the Arb fair and saw a very long saw-if memory serves me well is was something in the 21 ft region was yellow and possibly a Silky. Any ideas ? it was possibly a "tallboy" or hayate, suggestions/ideas and quality dealer eqs welcome, regards...Nick Pearson, Timberline-Roe Ltd.

    L200 advice

L200 is about the best for your needs. I have the 2003 older model, I only do about 3000 mpy so your milage is fine. I also have family, the twin cab is great aswell as the space in the rear. I had a 4 ton winch fitted to the front end with tow bar as well as a rear tow bar. The engine is very powerfull and great in 4 wheel drive snow/off road etc. If using in very muddy conditions I would advise using big mud tyres. The L200 is a very well made quality machine-I would get it NOW...regards Nick Pearson, Timberline-Roe Ltd.
  7. Which channel BBC ITV SKY ETC ?
  8. Hi Chris, the new premises look smashing-hope theres going to be a coffee machine, be up soon...Nick.
  9. Hi, I recently bought a husky 395 with a 36" bar/chain from forest & arb (advertise on here) have a massive 30% off, cost around £960 including postage. Although its the only big saw I have ever used I must say its got phenominal power and torge. Its not too heavy either. I fitted a full pull handle from stihl as opposed to the T handle as supplied, works like a dream. Done a lot of large tree felling and bucking-each tree trunk all wider than 4 feet diameter, puts the gob and back cut in easily. Its great for bucking up big trunks-especially with a sharp chain-knife through butter. Am chuffed with it and the service from forest & arb was spot on, hope this helps, Nick Pearson...Timberline-Roe Ltd.
  10. Although I have only used the Stihl combi system hedge trimmer and pole saw with extension I can say that I am very impressed with the system, saw has lots of power and the cut on the trimmer is good and adjustable. The engine virtually starts first time every time-although expensive its a good quality bit of kit. I am slowly building up attachments as I need them so the layout/price isnt prohibitive, regards...Nick Pearson, Timberline-Roe Ltd.
  11. I appreciate they are expensive but have you considered a "portable winch", petrol driven, can pull a lot of weight over considerable distance. If you could man handle the logs to the field edge then you would have a straight run with the winch. Maybe you could hire one, downside is that it would take a fair bit of time-its an option open to you and would save a lot of back breaking work. I would gladly help you, I have a large agricultural quad, a stein arbour trolley and my L200 has a powerful winch. The judicious use of ropes etc and your onto a winner. Down side is I live up in Sunderland. Good luck and let us know how you solved this rather large problem, regards...Nick Pearson, Timberline-Roe Ltd.
  12. Thanks Jon, the thief had stepped up using the offside side step and just rove the lamp off snapping the ciggy lighter wire, I could see the scuff marks in the dust on the roof. We had been parked right at the entrance to the car park. Obviously there were no witness,s and no cctv coverage. The type of people at the show appeared quite respectable-not like the usual drunken townie scum that attend fairsv etc-my impression of the show was one of being very well organised and very well presented-a major credit to the industry as a whole. Its cost me another £80 to replacethe lamp-which if I say so myself is a "goodn", courtesy of e bay. Moral of the story-remove the lamp when not in use. Saying that nearly every other 4 x 4 and arb van that was there had amber lights-defo a bit of bad luck...Nick.

  16. Hi all, went to the APF show on saturday, took 3 1/2 hours from Sunderland, the weather was lovely as were all the staff and folk we talked to. Watched the pole climbing, had some lunch, filled a carrier bag full of glossys, got myself a kelly kettle and had a smashing day, got back to the L200-some little S**t had riven off the amber strobe warning beacon off the roof. I reported it to the organisers who said it was the only reported crime throughout the 3 day event, bit of bad luck that. Anyway we still had a good time even though we had a canny drive back home. There is always some one who wants to spoil it for others, some selfish ignorant folk about, anyways, take care...Nick Pearson, Timberline-Roe Ltd.

  19. Average price per ton collected is around £30, that guy is kidding himself, even if some bowl maker turned up the rounds look as if they have been cut too small, clearly xmas is coming ???...Nick.
  20. Had a similar case a couple of years back, a local fencing contractor kept getting his dropside transits tanks syphoned off. Two 25 ltr containers worth were found 100 yds away stashed in a wood. The lads emptied the stolen diesel into other containers and put water into the original containers-the grapevine revealed that a couple of local scallys got a good hiding outside a local club for selling water purporting it to be diesel-hospital job by all accounts. It wasnt red that was stolen hence the water replacement. I would suggest water in the bowser, the thiefs wont be able to tell the difference not at night anyway. Will do lots of harm to any diesel fuel system. They will soon get the message. Prevention being better than cure-I would put the meanest dog on a long trace kenneled next to the fuel-see what happens...Nick.
  21. Well done moose-the system works then-thumbs up to the companies that helped you out...Nick Pearson, Timberline-Roe Ltd.
  22. There a very handy piece of kit. Get a metal fabricator to look at the Stein arb trolly clip by REG C, on the tube-that,ll give him a good idea of what is needed-good luck...Nick.

  25. Log into Youtube, and enter "Tree removal with stihl MS200T",(6.28 minutes long), talk about breaches of HSE/US regs, the list is phenominal. "Give em a chainsaw and after lopping down a couple of trees set up their own illegal outfit). Sorry but I dont know how to upload the link...Nick.
