  1. You cant beat some gun barrel straight softwood. Just waiting on load myself in the hope we can get it dry for late winter
  2. We do logs on a small scale (300-350 cube per year) We went VAT reg which was great while setting up and buying kit. Now it saves us nothing and cost extra in accountancy.
  3. I started with a Farmi WP36 processor and now 10 years later the same. Good versatile processor with a splitter that can work like a separate

    Queen

Seems there were many people following its path. Flightradar24 Queen Elizabeth II: Flight carrying coffin most tracked plane in history WWW.BBC.CO.UK Nearly six million people tried to follow the plane's route, causing the Flightradar24 site to crash.
  5. We have the Browns but regret getting it. The mechanisme for dropping the weight is not the same as the Wrag and Protec and doesn't seem to be quick enough. We do get the job done but its slow going
  6. Bacteria to save the day? Physiological and genomic characterisation of Luteimonas fraxinea sp. nov., a bacterial species associated with trees tolerant to ash dieback - ScienceDirect WWW.SCIENCEDIRECT.COM A group of isolates of the genus Luteimonas was characterised, which represented a specific component of the healthy core microbiome of Fraxinus excel…
  7. If this is paid for through general taxation the super rich will be paying their fair share. Mind you thats presuming the super rich pay taxes which often isn't the case!
  8. Does it get hot enough? Our wood burner can heat the whole house but due to there being an air duct below the top I would struggle to boil a kettle on it.
  9. No idea. Not on a fixed rate tariff. pay monthly for actual use and no idea what I will earn or use in the form of electricity
  10. Its a mess thats for sure In recent times many homes have been ridiculously hot as mentioned. I remember growing up in the 70s where only one room was heated (the kitchen) so we were often cold and sometimes hungry. I wouldn't wish that on a generation who have never experienced that. The upside to those times is you could buy a house for 3 times the average wage so once dad got the mortgage paid off things were better. Take your band 6 nurse on £32,306 (my better half has been a nurse for 10 years and still band 5) and an average house cost today in England of £304,867 (UK house price index for June). Thats 9.5 x your annual salary on whats been called a good wage and those house prices went up 7.3% this year. We now have the worst of both worlds and help will be needed for many. As Mick points out many of us benefit from what is essentially free heat this winter in the form of logs. We are just trying to work how best to donate some to the most needy this winter
  11. I am not managing pricing and it's been a nightmare for Robin and Geoff as steel costs and manufacturing just keep going up! Just asked Geoff and they are £3900 ex vat.
  12. Short on badgers and bunnies down here. Some bug splatter and a good year for butterflies in our neck of the woods. Even had a regular visits from a hedgehog in our garden which is a first. A few dear but maybe less than normal. We did pick up rain at times when others didn't so might account for our good fortune.
  13. No surprise if thats the case. 4 days as a lot to sett up and logs to cut and spilt for the retorts
  14. Will be there throughout. On the Exeter Charcoal Retort stand with our Dartmoor Dragon retort. Only ever been as a punter so will be interesting to see it from the other side so to speak
  15. Fox news 😂 Dont they burn wood in the US?
  16. I know a harvester who has switched to it and he loves the stuff
  17. Guess it's the same for others but log sales started way earlier this year. We are delivering like it's the depths of winter. It was busy and the then the new price cap was announced and the next few day orders flooded in. We only have limited supples so are only supplying regulars
  18. These guys had a thing or two to say about the ways of our world
  19. That equation is changing pretty rapidly though. When we got our PV on the FITs many moaned about the "ridiculous amount of money we get paid" through the FIT (45p per kWh) Payback was around 7 years Now panels are half the price and electric is soon to hit 50p per kWh from what I hear
  20. It's bonkers. To fair not every house will have a suitable elevation but most will
  21. OK it seems its a spot price that varies day to day. Found the site but not worked out how to get longer term prices yet. Maybe others will have more luck Market Data | EPEX SPOT WWW.EPEXSPOT.COM
  22. Guessing you are in the northern part of Sweden as the wholesale price further south is not far behind the UK or is the government subsiding it?
  23. It would work as you are just talking about a mobile night storage heater but heated with your stove instead of electric. Marcus has pointed out the big problem though and thats the weight of bricks you are going to moving about twice a day. Always fancied a large masonry stove but our place does heat evenly enough without due to having good insulation levels.
  24. Our processor is very fussy about tooth length. Saws far less so
