  1. I read about crime all the time but after 47 years on the planet never been the victim of any crime. Sure it may well be different in the cities but my experience of country living is crime is very rare.
  2. Any thoughts on the MS660 V the 395?
  3. What do you call a long bar Big J? 395 is a fair bit more and it's not going to get a vast amount of work but don't want to chuck money away on a saw thats not up to the job either.
  4. As above really. At present use an MS460 but considering setting that up with a 20" for fast ringing so would then want a gutsy saw for milling and occasional crosscutting. Thanks
  5. Dead here but January is often quiet for us as everyone gets stocked up before Christmas and then need more next month, I hope
  6. Glad they got him. Several of places done over where close by. Did't know they had been robed until now
  7. Think 1.5m3 of tidy roundwood would weigh the best part of a tonne so £50 for that sounds pretty good. Cost that much when you buy by the artic load if decent hardwood.
  8. But then there is the time and other costs of running a truck. I get lot's of requests to deliver to Plymouth but it's 45 mins away with usual traffic. Tempted at times but not sure it really makes sense.
  9. Yes but 4 tonne an hour is pretty impressive. I charge £27 per hour plus travel but at best average just over 2 tonne an hour based on a 8 hour day.
  10. You get 50MPG out of Hiace? My Hilux manages 25mpg doing logs which works out at 22p per mile on just fuel. Keep getting asked to do deliveries 15 mile away but just cant justify it.
  11. Thanks Morten. Will give that a go
  12. Like those especially the one piece end grain one. Never seen that done before but looks great
  13. Might try flipping it around as a test Thanks
  14. Would have thought it's seasonal snow
  15. If they pay tip and legit Do they really expect you to clear their drives? Bloody cheek if they do. Not a problem you get down here. Last measurable snow was 6 years ago!
  16. That's a bugger. Hope tomorrow work out better for you
  17. Sounds similar. Will try slower next time but not forcing and felt good but clearly something wasn't right. Sharpening wise I am using a guide like in the picture but at 10 degrees not 30. Presume the hook angle is the same as a crosscutting chain?
  18. Oregon milling chain. Started off flat after first cut but may of developed a bit of a sag as I went down through the log. It's only for a making a few sheep hurdles so wasn't checking but would like to avoid this in future.
  19. Blade definitely sharp and it is similar to what sometimes happens with a bandsaw but have had that with new blades as well. Was cutting 1" boards. No obvious vibration but wouldn't swear there wasn't.
  20. Milling up a few boards of scotts pine and get these ripples from the chain in patches yet other areas are smooth. Evenish feed speed and feels the same when cutting where it's happened. No difference before and after sharpening
  21. Thanks Stubby There would need to be for me to stump at that much extra not that I am keen to buy online from either of them. Happy to pay extra to support a shop with back up
  22. Two saws that as far as I can tell are identical apart from branding. £150 to have the same machine in orange is never going to happen These are the best prices I can find on them. Makita EA6100P45D 61cc Petrol Chainsaw (45cm) https://www.alternate.co.uk/Dolmar/PS-6100-Chain-Saw/html/product/1087621
  23. Sorry Rob 0.058 Oregon 21 LPX
  24. Good to hear Reading up it seems many have had trouble with the 560. Has yours proved reliable?
